Fairy Tail Guild — Morning

Makarov didn't raise his voice.

Which was how everyone knew it was serious.

"They're watching," he said, pipe resting against the bar. "Magic Council. No orders. No inspectors. Just… eyes."

The guild quieted—not fearful, just attentive.

"They won't interfere," Makarov continued. "Not unless something forces their hand. Which means we don't give them a reason."

Erza straightened. "Understood."

Mirajane cracked her knuckles. "So we behave?"

Makarov shot her a look.

"…Mostly," she amended with a grin.

The doors creaked open.

A presence filled the room before the man did.

"Yo."

Gildarts Clive walked in like a storm that had decided to be human—scarred, relaxed, terrifyingly casual. His eye swept the room once.

"…Huh," he muttered. "They're small."

The pressure spiked.

Erza and Mirajane felt it at the same time.

Gildarts smiled. "Let's see if they're real."

Training Field — Minutes Later

No crowd.

Makarov waved a hand. "Don't break the town."

Gildarts laughed. "No promises."

Erza moved first—no hesitation, blade already in motion, telekinesis reinforcing the strike. Mirajane followed half a step behind, demon form snapping fully into place.

They attacked together.

Gildarts didn't dodge.

He broke the space between them.

Crash Magic detonated—not outward, but inward, collapsing their combined assault into harmless fragments. Erza adjusted instantly, requipping mid-fall, slashing from a new angle.

Mirajane adapted—muscle density surging, lightning crawling over her arm as she struck.

Gildarts grinned wider.

"Good instincts."

He stepped through their attacks, tapped Erza's blade aside with two fingers, and caught Mirajane's punch—crushing the impact without hurting her.

"Strong," he said. "Both of you."

Then the pressure vanished.

Gildarts stepped back, hands up. "That's enough."

Erza panted, eyes blazing—not discouraged.

Mirajane laughed breathlessly. "You're ridiculous."

"Yep," Gildarts agreed. He glanced upward—toward nothing visible. "And that's the point."

He turned back to Makarov. "Tell the Council this guild doesn't need babysitting."

Makarov smirked. "I think they heard you."

Far away, scrying glass cracked.

Guild Hall — Afternoon

Lucy's letter arrived folded neatly, edges worn.

Kaito read it silently.

> Dear Fairy Tail,

I'm training every day. I fall a lot. But I get up more.

The food helps. A lot.

I can almost hold the stance for a full minute now!

I won't be late when I come back.

— Lucy

He smiled, folded it carefully, and tucked it away.

Across the room, Cana watched Gildarts with an expression she tried—and failed—to hide.

Longing.

Hope.

Fear.

Kaito noticed.

Great Sage whispered.

> Great Sage: Emotional resonance detected.

Probability of familial connection: high.

He approached her quietly. "You want to talk?"

Cana hesitated… then nodded.

---

Quiet Corner — Cana's Story

"He doesn't know," Cana said, staring into her drink. "Never did."

Kaito listened. Didn't interrupt.

"She joined to find him," he realized aloud—not accusing, just understanding.

Cana's grip tightened. "If he looks at me like I'm nothing… I don't know if I can handle that."

Kaito thought for a moment.

Then stood.

"Come with me."

---

Guild Hall — Reunion

"Gildarts," Kaito said calmly. "There's something you should know."

The guild stilled.

Cana stepped forward, heart pounding.

"…I'm your daughter."

Silence.

Gildarts froze.

Then—slowly—his expression shattered.

"…What?"

Makarov sighed. "About time."

Gildarts dropped to one knee, eyes searching Cana's face like he was afraid she'd disappear.

"…I'm sorry," he said hoarsely. "I didn't know. I swear—I didn't know."

Cana swallowed hard.

"…I'm here now."

Gildarts pulled her into a hug—clumsy, fierce, real.

The guild erupted.

Cheers. Whistles. Tears.

Juvia smiled softly.

Erza looked away, giving them space.

Kaito leaned back against the wall, relief settling in his chest.

Sometimes strength wasn't about fighting.

Sometimes it was about not letting people stay broken.
