Chapter 48 - Chapter 47 — Promises, Power, and Quiet Hearts

Month: Late October

Year: X775

Location: Magnolia → Outskirts Road

Ages: Kaito, Erza, Mirajane, Juvia — 10 | Lucy — 8 | Elfman — 9 | Lysanna — 8

---

Morning came softer than usual.

The guild was awake, but subdued—like it knew something was ending today.

Lucy stood near the entrance, small bag clutched to her chest, golden hair tied neatly. She tried to smile. It wobbled anyway.

"So… this is goodbye?" she asked, forcing lightness.

"For now," Kaito said gently, kneeling to her height. "Not forever."

Erza crossed her arms. "You still have time to train. Rushing will only get you hurt."

Mirajane leaned down, smirking. "But when you come back, you better be strong. I don't go easy."

Lucy laughed, eyes shiny. "I wouldn't expect you to."

Juvia stepped forward last, holding out a small blue ribbon. "For luck. And… courage."

Lucy took it carefully. "I'll treasure it."

She looked at them—really looked.

"I promise," Lucy said, voice firm despite the tremble, "I'll become a mage. And when I do… I'll join Fairy Tail."

Makarov chuckled from behind. "Guild'll still be standing, kid."

Kaito ruffled her hair. "We'll be waiting."

Lucy nodded hard, turned, and ran—waving until the road curved out of sight.

Silence lingered.

"…She'll come back," Lysanna said softly.

"Yes," Erza agreed. "She will."

Training Grounds — Noon

Mirajane stood alone in the clearing.

No smirk. No teasing grin.

Her hands trembled.

"I can feel it," she muttered. "It's… all there."

Erza stepped opposite her, armor light, sword ready. "Then stop holding back."

Mirajane inhaled.

Deep.

Demon magic surged—not wild, not fractured.

It aligned.

Her entire body shifted in a smooth, overwhelming wave of power. Horns, wings, musculature—no distortion, no instability.

Full Body Take Over.

The ground cracked under her feet.

Elfman stared. "…That's manly."

Lysanna's eyes sparkled.

Kaito's gaze sharpened. Synchronization achieved. Power output stabilized. Control—complete.

Mirajane grinned. Not cocky. Certain.

"Round two, knight."

Erza smiled.

They collided.

Steel and demon force clashed evenly—shockwaves tearing through the clearing. Erza's requips snapped faster than ever. Mirajane adapted, matched, countered.

No dominance.

No restraint.

When they finally separated, breathing hard—

They were smiling.

"…You caught up," Erza said.

Mirajane wiped sweat from her brow. "Told you I would."

Rivalry—complete.

Evening — Magnolia Streets

Juvia walked beside Kaito, quiet.

Too quiet.

Rain clouds gathered faintly overhead—not falling, just thinking.

"You've been spiraling," Kaito said casually, hands in pockets.

Juvia stiffened. "…Juvia is not."

He stopped.

Turned.

Looked at her—not analyzing, not fixing. Just seeing.

"Come with me."

They spent the evening slow.

Street food. Warm drinks. A small park bench under lantern light.

No training.

No pressure.

Juvia talked—halting at first, then spilling fears she hadn't meant to say aloud. About being left behind. About Lucy. About not being enough.

Kaito listened.

Then he reached out, brushing rain from her hair.

"You're not a burden," he said quietly. "You're here because you chose to be. And because we want you here."

Juvia's chest tightened.

"…Is this a date?"

He smiled. "Yeah."

Rain never fell.

---

Back at the guild, Erza and Mirajane argued over dinner like nothing had changed.

But everything had.
