Chapter 141 - One Kingdom Under the Moon.

The journey to Ironfall took most of the day.

Three riders cut across the vast plains beneath a clear blue sky.

At the front rode Queen Nyxara Veilbourne upon her silver-coated direwolf steed.

Beside her was Eryx Nocturne.

A short distance behind them rode Riven.

The wind rushed through his newly cut ear-length hair as his horse galloped steadily along the ancient road.

For most of the journey...

No one spoke.

Eventually...

Ironfall came into view.

Massive stone walls rose proudly against the horizon.

Scars of war still covered them.

Collapsed towers had been rebuilt with newer stone.

Sections of the walls still bore claw marks left by the battle that ended the Second Order.

Smoke drifted from blacksmith forges.

Builders hammered away at shattered homes.

Merchants filled the streets.

At first glance...

The city looked alive again.

But as they passed through the gates...

Riven immediately sensed something was wrong.

People weren't mixing.

One side of the market belonged entirely to former citizens of the Second Order.

The other side belonged to those sent from the Third.

Children played separately.

Shopkeepers ignored one another.

Even the guards stood in divided patrols.

The war was over.

Yet the people still lived as enemies.

Eryx sighed.

"...Worse than I expected."

Nyxara silently observed everything.

She said nothing.

The three continued deeper into the city.

Then

CRASH!

A wooden cart overturned nearby.

Fruit scattered across the street.

"You people are thieves!"

A burly former Second Order merchant shoved a young Third Order builder.

"We're rebuilding your city!"

the builder shouted back.

"Our city!"

the merchant roared.

"You invaded us!"

Within seconds...

Dozens gathered.

Voices rose.

Old hatred resurfaced.

"My brother died fighting your Order!"

"And my father died defending this city!"

"You call yourselves liberators!"

"You call yourselves victims!"

Weapons slowly began leaving their sheaths.

Riven frowned.

"This is bad..."

One furious young warrior lunged.

Another answered.

Before steel could meet steel

BOOM!

A blur shot between them.

Two hands caught two wrists simultaneously.

The force cracked the stone beneath his feet.

Riven.

Without transforming.

Without releasing his aura.

He simply stood between them.

His grip was firm.

Neither warrior could move.

"Enough."

His voice wasn't loud.

Yet somehow...

The entire square fell silent.

The two warriors looked at him.

"...The Fracture..."

Whispers spread through the crowd.

"It's Riven Thorn..."

"The hero of the Third..."

"The one who fought Aurelion..."

Riven slowly released both men.

"I didn't come here to fight."

He looked around.

"I came to understand."

Silence.

Finally...

An elderly man stepped forward.

His beard was streaked with grey.

The faded crest of the Second Order remained sewn into his cloak.

He looked directly at Riven.

"You wish to understand?"

"Then listen."

He pointed around the square.

"This was our home."

"Our Alpha is dead."

"Our Order no longer exists."

"Our children grow beneath another banner."

"Our traditions..."

"Our pride..."

"Our history..."

"They disappeared the day your army entered these gates."

His voice cracked.

"And now we're expected to smile?"

Several former Second citizens nodded.

Then a blacksmith from the Third stepped forward.

His hands were scarred from months of rebuilding.

"And what about us?"

"My son died taking these walls."

"My wife spent every day treating wounded soldiers."

"We rebuilt your homes."

"We shared our food."

"We buried your dead alongside ours."

He clenched his fists.

"And all we've received is hatred."

The square became silent once more.

Riven listened.

Neither side lied.

Neither side was entirely right.

Neither side was entirely wrong.

Everyone...

Had lost something.

He slowly walked to the center of the square.

For a long moment...

He simply stared at the ground.

Then...

He spoke.

"I understand."

Several people frowned.

"You can't."

An old woman shook her head.

"You weren't one of us."

Riven looked up.

"No."

"I wasn't."

"I was from Threxa."

The name alone caused murmurs.

"I watched my home burn."

"I watched my mother die."

"I died alongside my village."

His voice remained calm.

"I lost my humanity."

"When I became a werewolf....

"Werewolves called me an abomination."

"I belonged nowhere."

His eyes swept across both crowds.

"For a long time..."

"I thought I had lost everything."

Silence.

"But I was wrong."

He smiled faintly.

"I found something again."

"My family."

He thought of Eryx.

Diana.

Fenrick.

Soren.

Roran.

Lyra.

Marlis.

Nyss.

Even Queen Nyxara.

"They gave me a place to stand."

"They didn't erase my past."

"They gave me a future."

He looked toward the former Second citizens.

"You lost your kingdom."

Then toward the Third.

"You lost your loved ones."

He spread his arms.

"So tell me..."

"Why are you competing over whose pain is greater?"

Nobody answered.

"If this hatred continues..."

"If your children inherit your resentment..."

"If every generation continues this cycle..."

"Then what exactly did everyone who died protect?"

The question hung heavily over the square.

Riven's voice softened.

"They gave their lives hoping tomorrow would be better."

"So don't dishonor them..."

"...by making tomorrow look exactly like yesterday."

Silence.

Complete silence.

Then...

The elderly man who had spoken first slowly stepped forward.

He stopped before the Third Order blacksmith.

His weathered hands trembled.

"I..."

He swallowed.

"...I'm tired."

The blacksmith stared.

"So am I."

For a moment...

Neither moved.

Then...

The old man slowly extended his hand.

The blacksmith looked at it.

Then smiled.

He took it.

Their hands clasped firmly.

The square erupted into quiet murmurs.

A merchant stepped forward.

Then another.

Builders and craftsmen exchanged hesitant greetings.

Not everyone.

Not yet.

But enough.

Enough for hope to appear.

Queen Nyxara finally stepped forward.

Her silver cloak fluttered behind her.

Everyone instinctively bowed.

She raised one hand.

"Look at me."

Hundreds lifted their heads.

"I have heard your pain."

"I have seen your losses."

"You have every right to mourn."

She paused.

"But hear me clearly."

Her voice echoed through every street.

"You were conquered."

The words struck like thunder.

Some lowered their eyes.

Then Nyxara continued.

"But you were never abandoned."

She pointed toward the city around them.

"These walls..."

"These homes..."

"These streets..."

"They are now the responsibility of the Third Order."

"So are you."

"You are not prisoners."

"You are not lesser citizens."

"You are not second-class wolves."

"You are my people."

A tear rolled down one woman's face.

"From this day onward..."

"There are no citizens of the former Second."

"There are no citizens born within the Third."

"There is only one kingdom."

"One people."

"One future."

"And beneath the Moon..."

"You all stand equal."

For several heartbeats...

Nobody moved.

Then, one by one...

The people knelt.

Not out of fear.

Not because they had been ordered.

But because...

For the first time...

They believed.

Riven scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Um..."

"Could everyone please stop bowing because of me?"

A little girl giggled.

"He looks embarrassed."

The crowd laughed.

Even the old merchant smiled.

The heavy atmosphere finally broke.

As evening approached...

Construction resumed.

Builders from both sides lifted stones together.

Children chased each other through the streets without caring which Order they had been born into.

Merchants reopened their stalls.

The sound of hammers once again echoed through Ironfall.

This time...

Not as enemies.

But as neighbors.

As the three riders departed beneath the orange glow of sunset, Eryx glanced toward Riven.

"I spent months teaching you how to win with your fists."

A proud smile appeared beneath his beard.

"But today..."

"You won without throwing a single punch."

Nyxara looked ahead at the road.

"The strongest kingdoms are not built by warriors alone."

She glanced briefly toward Riven.

"They are built by people who can give others a reason to believe."

Riven remained silent.

Behind them...

Ironfall continued rebuilding.

For the first time since the war...

It no longer felt like a conquered city.

It felt...

Like home.
