Chapter 1 - 1 Sea Baby

Slamet Lara is a fisherman from Iwaklelet Village. He could be called a true fisherman. Born at sea, he remained at sea until old age.

His father was a skilled sailor, respected and renowned, but he belonged to the sandal-less class.

In the communities of several fishing villages directly adjacent to the Parasemiris Coastline, society is divided into two groups based on footwear. The lower-middle class are often called the "sandalless class," while the upper-class are popularly called the "sandaled people."

Tambang Sugi named his second son Slamet, hoping that his son, born while his mother was at sea, would live safely in a world rife with crime and danger.

However, during his childhood, Slamet frequently suffered from fevers. Because of these frequent bouts, the name "Lara" stuck to his name. Eventually, the two names merged to form Slamet Lara.

Slamet Lara has an older brother named Tripang Sewu. Since childhood, he aspired to become a powerful figure after witnessing a fierce battle between two warriors on the beach.

Two years later, he ran away from home to wander in search of supernatural powers.

However, for twenty-five years, Tripang Sewu never returned to his village, let alone his home.

Slamet Lara developed his character as a hardworking fisherman, accepting his fate with sincerity, and dreaming of a safe and peaceful life until he grew old without a breath.

He was destined to marry a fisherman girl named Muniwengi, the most beautiful girl in the world, according to him. Although Muniwengi was as thin as a stick, when she snored while sleeping, it made her a sexy woman.

It wasn't until Slamet Lara and Muniwengi were married for fifteen years that they had a child: a baby girl they named Anjengan, hoping she would grow up to be as beautiful as the moon.

However, their hopes were just that: Anjengan grew up a plump girl in her teens, a stark contrast to her parents, who were both thin and commoners. Then one day, a shocking incident occurred, but Slamet Lara and his wife attributed it to a stroke of good fortune: finding a baby.

While Slamet Lara and his beloved wife were pushing a boat, the boat suddenly struck a wooden crate. When they took it out and opened it to investigate, they were shocked to find a beautiful and adorable baby girl.

The entire village was in a frenzy, trying to find out who the birth parents were. However, no story of an abandoned baby was ever heard from any village.

Mystical stories soon spread, stating that the baby was not human, but the child of an ocean ghost, abandoned as the result of an unholy relationship.

However, Slamet ignored such stories. He and his wife determined to raise the baby with great enthusiasm. Having a beautiful daughter was a long-cherished dream. He even paid a wet nurse, as his wife's milk supply had long since run out.

The sea baby was named Alma Fatara. Slamet said he received divine inspiration. He didn't know what "alma" meant. Perhaps Alma stands for "sweet and spoiled child of the sea." Meanwhile, Fatara is the name of a type of fish found in legend.

According to her great-great-great-grandparents, there was a fish that sailors loved but also frightened them. Fatara was the name of the fish they mentioned.

Legend has it that the Fatara fish takes the form of a beautiful woman, but its feet, from calf to toe, are orange fishtails. Fatara fish should never be angered, as they transform into dangerous creatures.

Initially, Alma Fatara grew into a delightful toddler. Beautiful, fair, clean, and incredibly adorable. If she were left alone for even a moment, she was always missed. Not only were Slamet and his family happy, but the entire village rejoiced as well.

However, as Alma Fatara grew older, she became increasingly annoying. Although she grew into a beautiful and cheerful child, she was also mischievous and mischievous, causing many people a headache.

She grew into an unusual little girl. She wasn't like most weak and spoiled little girls. She even became a leader of the village children, from infancy to adulthood. Her father even once saw Alma unscathed by a weapon.

"Do you want to see my magical powers?" Alma asked her friends, about ten of whom were there.

Alma hid her right hand behind her back.

Slamet, who was working on patching the bottom of his boat on the beach, simply smiled as he watched his daughter hide her hand behind her back.

"I want to!" Alma's friends shouted in unison.

"The Kitchen Smoke Spell!" Alma shouted solemnly, holding her hand out from behind her back in front of her friends.

From within Alma's right hand, a thin stream of smoke emerged through her fingers.

"Wow! Amazing!" Alma's friends shouted, amazed by the phenomenon in the teenage girl's hand.

"Hahaha!" Alma laughed out loud, like a father's laugh.

Alma then pulled her hand back and hid it behind her back.

"Whoever grabs the rock last will be a turtle!" Alma shouted suddenly.

Hearing that, Alma's ten friends immediately turned and ran towards the rock on the beach.

Meanwhile, Alma threw away something she was holding. Slamet caught Alma's eye.

"Hahaha!" Laughing heartily, Alma ran to catch up with her friends. She would be the last to reach the rock.

"Alma, you're a turtle!" shouted the tallest, but thin, boy. His name was Iwak Ngasin. He was already standing on the rock with his friends.

"I grabbed the rock first!" Alma said, showing the rock in her hand.

"Wow, you cheated!" accused Anjengan, Alma's older sister. She was big and plump.

"Who cheated? I said holding the rock, not stepping on it!" Alma argued.

The children began arguing excitedly over Alma's playful tricks.

Meanwhile, Slamet, curious about his adopted daughter's magical games, walked over to where Alma had first played.

On the sandy ground, there was an object emitting a thin smoke, which was quickly dispersed by the sea breeze. Slamet was surprised, because the object Alma had thrown away was actually a smoldering ember.

Slamet looked in surprise at Alma. However, he was shocked to see Alma and her adopted older sister fighting on the beach sand.

"Alma is mighty! Alma is mighty!" shouted some of Alma Fatara's playmates.

"Fight me, Anjengan! You're stronger and bigger!" shouted others, supporting Anjengan, Alma's adopted older sister.

However, in reality, Anjengan was now lying face down on the sand. Her legs were bent and locked by Alma, who was sitting on them. Meanwhile, Anjengan's chin was being pulled back hard by Alma Fatara's hands. Alma Fatara was forcing Anjengan's body to arch backward. The SmackDown-style choke left Anjengan helpless and in pain.

Anjengan winced in pain. She couldn't scream because her mouth was forced shut. Unable to hold on, she patted the sand in surrender.

"Alma! Stop it!" Slamet shouted, running to his two daughters.

Laughing, Alma Fatara released her sister's chin and climbed down from her fat back.

"Alma! What are you doing? You're siblings, why are you fighting?!" Slamet scolded, arriving between them.

"It was Anjengan who asked me to fight!" Alma argued with a smile.

"I challenged you to a fight, not asked you to fight!" Anjengan retorted.

"You too, Anjengan! You never learn from losing fights with your sister!" Slamet scolded his daughter.

"That's exactly what it is, Dad. Because I never win, I have to keep challenging her to fights," Anjengan argued, her cheeks like warm steamed buns.

"Hahaha!" laughed their other nine friends. (RH)
