Chapter 19 - King of the Greenskins VS Demon King. (3)

Aku's plan wasn't centered solely on confusing the ogre. It was much more complex.

First, Aku ran some tests to confirm that the protection spell changed according to the attack employed.

Aku supposed it was because it was protecting against a specific element.

Knowing that, Aku acted intelligently. First he created a veil of darkness to block the ogre's vision, then attacked.

The light arrows were a distraction. Aku couldn't be sure if the ogre could see in the dark, so he fired those arrows as a distraction to shoot the truly lethal ones.

That worked. He distracted the ogre and managed to hit it with three sonic explosions, enough to take it out of combat, at least the part that cast spells.

Then he employed the second deception.

He made the enemy believe that the bow only allowed choosing the number of arrows and their element.

He did this by firing multiple arrows with the same power instead of using just one more powerful one.

He made the enemy believe they should only worry if there were multiple arrows.

But that wasn't the case, something he proved with the fire arrow.

The ogre underestimated it, protecting itself with its hand, believing that was enough to defend against the arrow.

However, that fire arrow was at maximum power and the explosion it released was enough to make Gerald fall.

With that, Aku sought to interrupt Gerald's spell and have him die from the fall.

However, Gerald acted in time and managed to have his hobgoblin ninja squad save him at the last moment.

Still, that didn't make his strategy completely useless.

The ogre had been distracted by its master's fall.

Aku knew that ogres had immense regenerative power, so the damage he had done wouldn't be enough to finish it.

That's why, now that it was distracted and couldn't defend itself, Aku tensed all the strings using all his strength.

As he did, his bow was tinged with a chromatic aberration as hundreds of multicolored glows shone around it.

Upon releasing the strings, an immense roar was heard.

Multiple concentrated rays of each element were fired in unison, which twisted until forming a single shot.

Upon impacting the ogre, it not only exploded, but a multicolored energy was released in a burst that, in an instant, transformed into a black implosion.

As if it were a black hole, all the matter that entered the explosion's area was erased, leaving the ogre with only its extremities that fell to the ground.

Gerald clenched his jaw, feeling frustrated and annoyed.

His best summon had been destroyed in one blow.

Was he really that insignificant?

No, the battle hadn't ended yet.

"Attack!" he ordered as he pointed at Aku with his staff.

Gerald still remembered how horrible his old life was.

He gained weight easily, was hungrier than others.

He was born into a family where everyone was overweight, where that was normal.

At least for his family. At school, it was very different.

There, if you were ugly or fat, you'd be victim to the cruelest mockery.

Gerald tried to change, exercise and eat healthier.

But his family didn't want him to. They told him he couldn't, to stop with silly dreams, belittling him for trying to be better.

He tried to keep going, even if at school they mocked him and at home they belittled him.

However, that day was the last straw.

When he was going out for a run, he encountered a girl being harassed by bullies.

Trying to be kind, the boy decided to intervene, though he only got a beating.

However, that wasn't the worst part.

The worst was her disgusted reaction seeing that her savior looked like a pig.

She accused him of wanting to show off in front of her, when he only wanted to help.

But it didn't end there.

A few days later the police came to his house. Apparently, the girl had defamed him saying he had been the aggressor.

That made the harassment against Gerald increase, both at home and at school, even on the street.

He was just a virgin pig who had tried to overstep himself with a beautiful woman.

Society turned its back on him.

Gerald didn't leave home from that day on. He gave up trying to improve his body, gave up trying to defend his reputation.

He simply waited for his death to arrive.

It was then that he received a notification.

[Do you want to be a hero?]

Gerald accepted, excited.

He believed things would finally go well for him in life.

However, he was wrong.

The goddess who received him insulted him for being very ugly and granted him a useless ability to summon goblins.

Upon arriving in the kingdom of the other world, it was much worse.

Despised for his ugliness and useless ability, he was banished from the kingdom and they practically asked him to die at the demon king's hands.

But he didn't give up. He made an effort and became stronger, seeking to defeat the demon king to shut the mouths of all those who once insulted him.

But he failed, failed pathetically.

How are you going to face dragons with goblins?

No matter how hard he tried, life never made it easy for him.

And now it was no different.

But Gerald wasn't planning to give up.

If he was going to lose, it would be using 100%.

His determination hadn't broken yet.

The battle hadn't ended yet.
