Chapter 16 - CHAPTER 16: THE UNMOVABLE FORTRESS

The oppressive pressure that had blanketed the stadium slowly dissipated as the artificial ceiling grid stabilized. Overhead, heavy mechanical repair arms extended from the upper rim of the containment dome, humming as they deployed automated nano-welding drones. Red emergency strobes gave way to steady gold lights, signaling that the structural integrity of the grand arena had been restored to safe operational parameters.

In the center of the pit, medical droids hovered around the fallen form of Leomord, gently loading the broken knight and his exhausted Triceratops onto anti-gravity stretchers.

The main stadium speakers crackled to life, breaking the tense silence with a booming automated announcement:

"ATTENTION SPECTATORS. EMERGENCY INTERVENTION HAS BEEN LOGGED AND REVIEWED BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE. LEOMORD HAS BEEN DECLARED INCAPACITATED AND UNABLE TO CONTINUE. THEREFORE, THE VICTOR OF MATCH ONE IS... THUNDER!"

A tentative murmur rippled through the crowd before escalating into a roar of mixed applause and nervous excitement.

***

Back at Team Thunder's designated bench area, Thunder sat on a padded bench, blinking groggily. The purple glow in his eyes was entirely gone, replaced by his usual clear gaze. He rubbed the back of his neck, looking around at his companions with a blank expression.

"My head feels like it was hit by a falling anvil..." Thunder muttered, shaking his head to clear the fog. He looked up at the team. "Wait... guys? What happened? Did the match start yet? Did I lose?"

Mark, Ninten, Gic, Fi, and Dent all stared at him in utter disbelief.

"Are you serious right now?" Gic blurted out, throwing his hands in the air. "Did you lose?! You nearly wiped out the entire containment zone!"

"Thunder, you don't remember anything?" Fi asked, stepping forward with his arms crossed, his tone deep and full of concern. "You completely went black. Your Destruction Sakti awakened into some kind of high-frequency purple storm. You absorbed Leomord's spatial blade directly into your chest like it was nothing!"

"I... I did?" Thunder blinked, staring at his hands. "I remember stepping onto the platform, and then... total darkness."

"It was terrifying, man," Ninten added, leaning against the bench railing. "You literally turned into pure plasma and disintegrated the whole floor. The arena guards tried to stop you, and you blew thirty of them away with a single wave of your hand!"

Mark adjusted his cybernetic visor, analyzing Thunder's vital readings. "His neural logs show a complete memory gap during the awakening. But the most insane part wasn't your power, Thunder... it was who stopped you."

"Who?" Thunder asked, frowning.

"The Honoured 8th Hidden Maliqun King, Khandker Al Khalid himself," Fi explained quietly. "He caught your Lightning Cutter with his bare hand, neutralized your Sakti instantly, and whispered something to you before you passed out."

Thunder pressed his knuckles against his temples, frustration evident on his face. "The 8th King? I can't remember a single word... It's all a total blank."

Dent clapped a heavy hand onto Thunder's shoulder, his grip firm and steady. "Don't force it now, Thunder. Whatever that power was, you're back in control. Now rest up." Dent turned toward the arena entrance, adjusting the heavy metallic vambraces on his forearms. "It's my turn to step onto that field."

***

The automated speakers resonated across the arena once more:

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! PREPARE YOURSELVES FOR MATCH TWO OF THE SECOND ROUND! REPRESENTING TEAM THUNDER, THE UNYIELDING DEFENDER—DENT! AND REPRESENTING TEAM ASTRAL, THE MULTI-ELEMENTAL MASTER—ABHA-STTAR!"

The crowd cheered as the floating metal platforms in the ring reassembled, forming a fresh, pristine combat ring constructed from high-density titan-steel alloy.

From the opposite tunnel, Abha-sttar stepped into the light. He wore elaborate, layered robes adorned with glowing celestial runes that constantly shifted color—from crimson red to absolute ice-blue, and finally to a shimmering purple hue. His eyes burned with an eerie, dual-colored radiance, and the air around him warped continuously, creating visible distortions in space.

On the other side stood Dent. Standing tall and broad, Dent radiated a quiet, immovable presence. As the **Qadirun Maliqun of Defense**, his very posture suggested an impenetrable mountain that no tide could ever erode. He carried no weapons, keeping his heavy, armored hands loose at his sides as he stepped onto the center platform.

"Begin the match!" the official referee signal echoed.

*SWOOSH!*

Without a single word of greeting or warning, Abha-sttar opened the battle at full lethal output. He raised his right hand, his fingers igniting with a blinding, white-hot solar brilliance.

**Thermal Type: Corona Beam!**

A concentrated column of superheated thermal energy, exceeding tens of thousands of degrees, erupted from Abha-sttar's palm. The beam cleaved across the titan-steel floor, instantly liquidating the metal path in its wake as it surged straight toward Dent's chest.

Dent didn't dodge. He didn't even shift his footing.

As the Corona Beam struck him, a subtle, golden-grey barrier materialized a millimeter above Dent's skin. The superheated plasma slammed into the barrier with a deafening screech, but instead of burning through or pushing Dent backward, the thermal energy flattened against the golden-grey surface.

*ZZZZT!*

The blinding light of the beam began to dim rapidly. The intense heat didn't dissipate into the surrounding atmosphere; rather, it was forcibly drawn inward, spiraling into Dent's barrier like water pouring down a drain. Dent's eyes remained calm as he absorbed the entire thermal output without taking a single scratch.

Abha-sttar's eyes narrowed slightly, but his expression remained cold and calculated. "Thermal energy conversion? Then let us see how your absolute defense handles thermal negation!"

With a flick of his left wrist, the glowing runes on Abha-sttar's robes shifted from brilliant crimson to an icy, dead blue. The ambient temperature around Dent plummeted instantaneously toward absolute zero.

**Inthermal Type: Absolute Zero Compression!**

The air surrounding Dent froze solid into dense, blue-tinted crystalline ice. Moisture, atmospheric gases, and ambient thermal vibration were completely removed from the space around Dent, attempting to freeze his cellular structure instantly and shatter his body under extreme cryogenic pressure.

*CRACKLE!*

The ice encapsulated Dent entirely, forming a twenty-foot-tall block of absolute-zero crystal. The crowd held its breath, wondering if the sudden transition from extreme heat to extreme cold would crack Dent's defense.

However, inside the ice block, the golden-grey glow of Dent's defensive mantle did not flicker. Instead, the freezing Inthermal energy was drawn toward his body, meeting the previously absorbed Thermal energy inside his defensive core. Dent's technique—the true authority of the **Qadirun Maliqun of Defense**—did not merely block incoming forces; it neutralized and stored kinetic, elemental, and atmospheric energy within a dense, internal storage lattice.

*BOOM!*

The giant ice block exploded into harmless frost mist. Dent stepped out of the freezing cloud completely unaffected, his boots clicking softly against the floor.

"Impressive," Abha-sttar murmured, his voice echoing with spatial resonance. "You absorb energy types through direct contact. But what happens when the attack doesn't touch your defense at all, but rather originates *inside* your spatial coordinates?"

Abha-sttar folded his hands into a complex seal. Shimmering purple spatial rings expanded around his elbows.

**Space Type: Dimensional Shearing!**

Space itself around Dent began to twist violently. Abha-sttar was attempting to bypass Dent's outer barrier entirely by folding the physical coordinates of the air *inside* Dent's body, slicing his internal organs using pure spatial compression.

*VRRRRR!*

Space folded, cracking like broken glass directly where Dent stood. But the moment the spatial shear attempted to manifest within Dent's coordinates, it ran directly into the dense, absolute domain of the **Qadirun Maliqun of Defense**. Dent's defensive Sakti was not merely an outer shield; it was an absolute personal domain that anchored his physical coordinates to the bedrock of reality. The spatial tear couldn't form inside him—it was forcibly pushed outward, flattening against his outer golden-grey aura just like the Thermal and Inthermal attacks before it.

*BZZZZT!*

The spatial energy, too, was drawn into Dent's defensive lattice, absorbed and stored alongside the heat and the frost.

"Is that all?" Dent spoke for the first time, his voice deep, grounded, and echoing across the entire arena. "Thermal, Inthermal, and Space... a versatile combination, Abha-sttar. But against the shield of the Qadirun Maliqun, all attacks are merely fuel."

Abha-sttar's expression darkened. "Fuel? You think you can hold infinite energy within that frail body of yours?!"

Abha-sttar extended both arms, his eyes flashing violently as he blended all three energy types simultaneously. Crimson fire, blue frost, and purple spatial tears began to weave together into a colossal, spiraling trident of pure multi-elemental destruction.

**Tri-Elemental Calamity: Void Piercer!**

The massive attack tore through the air, shattering the physical floor, freezing the air around it, and scorching the surrounding space as it accelerated toward Dent at hypersonic speed.

Dent took one solid step forward, planting his back foot into the floor. A golden-grey crest—the ancient symbol of the Defender—manifested behind his back.

"I don't just hold it," Dent said calmly. "I return it."

Dent thrust his open palm forward to meet the incoming Tri-Elemental Calamity head-on.

*PAK!*

The massive, spiraling trident slammed directly into Dent's palm. The impact generated a shockwave that cracked the containment dome's upper reinforcement beams, but Dent didn't yield an inch. His golden-grey aura flared with blinding intensity as it swallowed the combined Thermal, Inthermal, and Space Type energies, compressing them into a singular, ultra-dense orb of light within his palm.

"Now... take your own strength back!" Dent roared.

**Defensive Authority: Reflective Calamity!**

Dent unleashed the entire stored combination of Abha-sttar's previous attacks back at him in a singular, devastating counter-beam. The combined Thermal heat, Inthermal cold, and Spatial compression erupted from Dent's palm in a blinding cascade of golden, crimson, and purple destruction, tearing across the arena straight toward Abha-sttar.

Abha-sttar's eyes widened in genuine shock. He rapidly deployed three layered spatial barriers in front of himself to block his own reflected power.

*BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!*

The reflected beam shattered Abha-sttar's first two spatial barriers instantly, detonating against the third and hurling Abha-sttar backward across the ring. Abha-sttar tumbled through the air, his pristine robes scorched and torn, before slamming his heels into the edge of the platform to halt his momentum.

Abha-sttar breathed heavily, wiping a line of dust from his jaw as he looked across the ruined platform at Dent, who remained standing in the exact same spot, calm, unbothered, and completely unyielding.

"This fight... is far from over!" Abha-sttar hissed, his aura flaring with insane intensity as he prepared to escalate his multi-elemental techniques to an even higher level.

Dent raised his hands into a guard position, his golden-grey aura shining bright and firm. "Whenever you are ready."
