The Woman Who Chose Her
The convoy left the Palace just after dawn.
Only two vehicles. No sirens. No media.
No unnecessary security.
Sebastian sat in the back seat with Vivian beside him. Sophia sat opposite them.
Nobody spoke for several minutes.
The road toward the northern edge of Valenridge was almost empty.
Sophia kept thinking about Helena.
Twenty years. That number wouldn't leave her mind. Twenty years ago, she had been a child.
Helena had been one of the few adults who had ever truly believed in her. Or so she had thought.
Sebastian broke the silence.
"Tell me about her." Sophia looked at him.
"Helena?"
"Yes."Sophia took a breath.
"She was my mentor."
"For how long?" "Almost ten years."
Vivian listened quietly.
Sophia continued.
"She found me when I was still studying medicine. I was struggling financially. My brother was already sick, and I was working almost every hour I could."
"What did she do?""She helped me."
Sophia looked out the window.
