Rachel clearly did not expect Fabian to react so dramatically. She stared at him in surprise, but after a moment she sighed as if she understood his feelings.
"I know, right?" she said softly. "I was just as shocked when I heard Vivian married Finnick. Sigh… where were you back then, Fabian?"
Fabian could no longer continue the conversation.
Without another word, he turned and rushed out of the ward. His footsteps echoed down the hallway as he hurried out of the hospital and drove straight back to his office.
Meanwhile, back at the magazine company, Sarah and I were sitting in the pantry eating the sandwiches we had bought for lunch.
While chewing slowly, I scrolled through my phone, searching for new recipes to cook for Finnick later.
Across from me, Sarah kept glancing at me from time to time while biting into her sandwich. Her expression looked strange, as if she wanted to say something but didn't know how.
