Chapter 56 - Seasoned with Love

Seasoned With Love

Season 4 – Episode 1: "New Doors"

Amara's POV

Three weeks after the building drama…

The restaurant had never been busier.

Not even close.

Marcus spun around the kitchen holding a tray like a victory trophy.

"Table six wants to know if Luke Bennett signs autographs with their dessert."

Rose didn't even look up.

"No."

Marcus sighed.

"Missed branding opportunity."

Carl leaned against the counter reviewing construction plans.

"You're impossible."

Marcus grinned.

"Yet somehow essential."

The truth was the article clearing Luke's name had done more than change the narrative.

It had changed the city's attitude.

Customers who once whispered about Luke now came in curious.

Investors who once avoided him now respected him.

And the restaurant had become something bigger than a place to eat.

It had become a symbol.

Luke walked out of the office carrying a clipboard.

"Morning."

Marcus saluted him with a coffee mug.

"Morning, local legend."

Luke shook his head.

"Please don't start that again."

Rose handed him the morning numbers.

"You should look at this."

Luke studied the report.

His eyebrows lifted slightly.

"Reservations are up again."

Carl nodded.

"You're turning people away every night."

Marcus leaned forward.

"Which brings us to the exciting conversation we've been avoiding."

Luke looked at him.

"What conversation?"

Marcus pointed dramatically toward Carl's papers.

"Expansion."

Carl smiled.

"Finally."

Rose crossed her arms.

"He's right."

Luke leaned against the counter.

"You're serious."

Rose nodded.

"You're outgrowing this space."

Marcus raised a finger.

"And I personally refuse to turn away people who want my legendary espresso."

Carl slid the construction plans across the counter.

"I've already looked at a few nearby properties."

Luke looked surprised.

"You've been planning this."

Carl shrugged.

"I plan things."

Rose added,

"And the numbers support it."

Luke studied the sketches carefully.

A second restaurant.

Larger dining room.

Open kitchen design.

Marcus leaned over his shoulder.

"Picture this… double the tables, double the food, double the compliments."

Luke looked thoughtful.

Amara—me—finally spoke.

"You're not just building another restaurant."

Everyone looked at me.

"What do you mean?" Luke asked.

"You're building something that represents what you believe."

Marcus pointed at me.

"That was deep."

Rose nodded slowly.

"She's right."

Luke looked down at the plans again.

Then he said quietly,

"Let's find the right place."

Marcus jumped.

"YES!"

Carl grinned.

"Thought you'd say that."

Rose smiled.

"Expansion it is."

But just as excitement filled the room—

The door opened.

Marcus turned automatically.

"Welcome to—"

He stopped mid-sentence.

A sharply dressed woman walked in.

Tall.

Confident.

Very corporate energy.

She walked directly toward the counter.

"Luke Bennett?"

Luke stepped forward.

"Yes."

She handed him a business card.

"My name is Victoria Hale."

Marcus whispered to Carl,

"That name sounds expensive."

Carl whispered back,

"Very."

Luke read the card.

Then his expression changed slightly.

"What company is this?" Rose asked.

Luke answered quietly.

"Hale Urban Developments."

Marcus blinked.

"Should I know that?"

Carl leaned closer.

"They build luxury restaurant chains."

Victoria spoke calmly.

"We've been following your story closely."

Marcus muttered,

"That never ends well."

Victoria smiled politely.

"You've built something impressive."

Luke stayed neutral.

"Thank you."

Victoria continued.

"Our company is expanding into this city."

Marcus whispered,

"I knew it."

Victoria folded her hands on the counter.

"We'd like to offer you a partnership."

Rose's eyes narrowed slightly.

"What kind of partnership?"

Victoria answered smoothly.

"A restaurant group."

Carl frowned.

"You mean a chain."

Victoria nodded.

"Yes."

Marcus made a face.

"Chains are suspicious."

Luke asked calmly,

"What role would I play?"

Victoria met his gaze.

"You would be the face."

Marcus whispered loudly,

"Ah. There it is."

Rose crossed her arms.

"What about control?"

Victoria answered without hesitation.

"Our company would handle operations."

Marcus laughed.

"Meaning they run everything."

Victoria continued as if he hadn't spoken.

"In return you would receive significant financial backing."

Carl looked at Luke.

"This is big money."

Luke placed the card on the counter.

"And why me?"

Victoria smiled slightly.

"Because people trust you."

Marcus leaned toward Rose.

"Flattery detected."

Victoria continued.

"Your story has credibility."

Luke studied her carefully.

"And if I say no?"

Victoria shrugged lightly.

"We'll simply open our own restaurant nearby."

Marcus whispered,

"Oh that's bold."

Rose didn't like the tone.

"Are you threatening competition?"

Victoria smiled calmly.

"I'm offering collaboration."

The restaurant had grown quiet again.

Customers were definitely listening now.

Luke looked at the card again.

Then he asked the question that mattered.

"What kind of restaurant would you build?"

Victoria answered confidently.

"Efficient. Scalable. Profitable."

Marcus whispered,

"That sounds like airport food."

Carl chuckled quietly.

Luke looked around his restaurant.

At the tables filled with people laughing.

At the staff working like family.

Then he looked back at Victoria.

"I'll think about it."

Victoria nodded.

"I expected that."

She turned to leave.

But just before walking out, she added one more sentence.

"Our first location opens in six months."

Marcus called after her,

"Good luck with the airport food!"

Rose sighed.

"Marcus."

Victoria walked out without reacting.

The door closed.

Carl looked at Luke.

"That's serious competition."

Marcus shrugged.

"Or serious temptation."

Rose asked quietly,

"What are you thinking?"

Luke looked back at the construction plans for their second restaurant.

Then toward the door where Victoria had left.

Finally he said something that made Marcus grin.

"We build our own future."

Marcus raised both hands.

"That's the spirit."

Carl nodded.

"Then let's start scouting locations."

Rose smiled.

"This season just got interesting."

And I had a feeling she was right.

Because Victoria Hale hadn't walked into our lives by accident.

She had walked in with a plan.

And something told me…

The next battle wouldn't just be about a restaurant.

It would be about what kind of business wins in the end.
