Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – The Heir of the Ravenwolves

The night Leon Ashford was born, the wolves howled. Not one. Not two.The entire mountain range behind Ravenwolf Keep echoed with long, echoing cries that rolled like thunder through the valleys.

Inside the ancestral hall, dozens of clan members fell to one knee.

Because the one holding the newborn wasn't just a father.

He was Darius Ashford — Patriarch of the Ravenwolf Clan. One of the strongest men in the kingdom. A warrior whose blade had once split a canyon in half. And right now…He looked terrified."…He's too quiet," Darius muttered.

The midwife panicked. "M-My lord, that's normal—"

Before she could finish, the baby opened his eyes.

Deep. Clear. Unnaturally focused.

Not the unfocused gaze of a newborn.

Darius froze.

The baby didn't cry.

He just stared.

At the ceiling.

At the candles.

At the world.

…What the hell…?

Because inside that tiny body…

Leon was awake.

Not fully. Not clearly. His thoughts were like fragments of dreams slipping through water.

Light. Cold air. Voices.

…I was… crossing the street…?

The memories slipped away before he could hold them.

All he knew was this:

I'm… alive?

Warmth wrapped around him. Strong arms. A steady heartbeat.

Darius let out a shaky breath and pulled his son closer.

"Welcome to the world… Leon."

And outside—

The howling stopped all at once.

As if the mountain itself had acknowledged him.

Six Years Later…

Leon sat on the stone wall overlooking the clan's training grounds, chin resting on his hands.

Below him, grown warriors clashed with swords, spears, and axes. Sparks flew. Shockwaves rippled across the courtyard.

He sighed.

"…Still boring."

At six years old, Leon Ashford had already figured out two things:

He lived in a world where people could punch through boulders.

He was the son of a man who could probably punch through a mountain.

No pressure.

Behind him, heavy footsteps approached.

"You're supposed to be practicing footwork."

Leon didn't turn around. "I did."

Darius Ashford loomed behind him, arms crossed. Even relaxed, the man felt like a walking storm.

"You did ten minutes."

"I did focused ten minutes," Leon corrected. "Efficiency matters."

Darius tried to stay stern.

He failed.

A laugh rumbled out of him. "You talk like a retired general, not a child."

Leon grinned slightly.

Because mentally…

He wasn't just a child.

Fragments of another life still drifted in his dreams — strange buildings, glowing screens, metal carriages that moved without horses.

He didn't understand it.

But he knew one thing for sure.

I was older before.

And that meant he refused to waste this life.

Darius ruffled his hair. "Your affinity ceremony is in four years. Until then, your job is to build your foundation. Body first. Power later."

Leon nodded. He understood. In this world, everyone awakened their elemental affinities at age 10. Most people got one, talents got two and Legends… got three.

His father had two.

The king had three.

Leon planned to break the scale.

That night, Leon couldn't sleep.

Moonlight spilled across his room.

He stared at the ceiling.

"…There's something weird about me."

Not talent.

Not status.

Something deeper. Like a door in his mind that had never opened.

As that thought formed—

A soft chime echoed in the darkness.

[Ding.]

Leon bolted upright.

"…Hello?"

A faint shimmer appeared in the air in front of him. Almost invisible. Like heat distortion.

Words formed slowly, like the system itself was waking up.

Leon stared.

The words stayed.

More lines appeared.

A new panel opened.

"…Okay. Sure. Why not."

He scrolled back up.

Then froze.

He selected it.

Pain exploded in his chest.

Leon bit down on his blanket to stop from crying out.

Light burst from his body — silent, invisible to the outside world.

Inside his soul…

A sword formed.

Black as the night sky. Veins of silver light running through the blade like constellations.

A voice whispered faintly.

"At last… my wielder."

Leon's breathing shook.

"…You can talk?!"

No response.

But he felt it.

The sword was alive.

And bound only to him.

Then another notification appeared.

Beasts contracted in the future may share affinities with the host.

Host Affinities: Locked until Age 10 Awakening Ceremony

Leon lay back down, staring at the ceiling, heart racing.

A sword in his soul.

A shop with monsters and machines.

And a future where the world thought he'd be normal until age ten.

He grinned in the dark.

"Yeah… I'm definitely not normal."

Outside, far beyond the walls of Ravenwolf Keep…

Something howled at the moon.

And this time—

Leon felt it answer him.
