Chapter 79 - Chapter 79

Larvitar's body glowed faint blue as it continued its Dragon Dance.

Luna's expression changed.

It had to be interrupted.

She still remembered the last match clearly—after two Dragon Dances, Larvitar had shattered the battlefield with a single stomp.

"If you think you're setting up again, think again!"

She pointed forward sharply.

"Dratini, Aqua Jet!"

"Mi!"

Water surged over Dratini's body in an instant. In the blink of an eye, it launched forward like a living torpedo.

It was fast.

Miya's eyes widened.

"That speed—"

Ren nodded calmly from the side.

"Aqua Jet. It always moves first. Same principle as Quick Attack."

Lucas's expression tightened.

"Larvitar, dodge!"

Larvitar barely had time to cancel its dance. It stepped sharply to the side—

—but Aqua Jet still clipped its shoulder.

Splash!

Larvitar slid backward across the dirt.

Lucas clicked his tongue softly.

Water-type. Four times effective.

"Rock Throw!"

Larvitar steadied itself and roared. A large rock formed above Dratini and dropped rapidly.

"Dratini, Twister!"

A spiraling gust formed instantly, expanding outward. The falling rock smashed into the twisting wind—

CRACK!

The rock shattered midair.

Lucy blinked.

"Okay… that was cool."

Lucas didn't hesitate.

"Stomp!"

Larvitar slammed its foot down.

The ground fractured outward in a shockwave.

Dratini's body wobbled violently as the earth trembled beneath it.

Luna's heart tightened—but Lucas didn't press with another attack.

Instead—

"Dragon Dance."

Larvitar began moving again.

Blue light wrapped around its body as its power and speed rose further.

This time, Dratini couldn't interrupt in time.

Lucy folded her arms.

"That rhythm control is clean…"

Ren nodded slightly.

"Lucas is playing for scaling. Larvitar doesn't have many ranged options. Boosting first makes sense."

Luna bit her lip.

If she let Larvitar stack further, it would become overwhelming.

No more waiting.

"Dratini—Dragon Rush!"

A deep, resonant roar echoed across the field.

Green energy exploded outward from Dratini's body. The aura twisted, condensing into the shape of a roaring dragon around it.

The pressure changed instantly.

Lucy's mouth fell open.

"Whoa…"

Even Miya stared.

"That's… intense."

Dratini launched upward—

then dove.

Like a meteor wrapped in dragon-shaped energy.

Lucas felt the pressure hit him physically.

"Rock Throw! Full power!"

Larvitar roared and formed the largest rock yet, hurling it forward.

BOOM!

Dragon Rush collided head-on with Rock Throw.

For half a second, they held—

Then the rock shattered.

Dragon Rush smashed straight through.

CRASH!

Larvitar was engulfed in smoke and thrown backward.

The ground shook.

Luna's face lit up.

"Yes!"

But—

"Larvitar! Payback!"

From within the smoke, a dark glow erupted.

Larvitar lunged forward suddenly—

It had endured the hit just long enough.

Its claws locked around Dratini's tail.

"What?!" Luna gasped.

Payback triggered after taking damage.

Dark energy surged around Larvitar's body as it swung Dratini in a brutal arc—

—and slammed it into the ground.

BOOM!

Dratini cried out in pain.

Ren's eyes sharpened slightly.

"Because Larvitar moved second, Payback's power doubled."

Lucy winced.

"That looked bad…"

Lucas didn't let the momentum drop.

"Stomp!"

Larvitar lifted its foot high.

If that connected cleanly, it might decide the match.

"Dratini, Aqua Jet—now!"

Water burst over Dratini's body again. It twisted its serpentine form sharply and launched upward at point-blank range.

BAM!

Larvitar was blasted backward before the stomp could fall.

Lucas clenched his jaw.

That priority move was annoying.

Luna saw her opening.

"Dragon Rush! Finish it!"

Dratini roared again, dragon aura flaring violently.

Lucas made a split-second decision.

"Rock Throw—straight up!"

A rock formed above Larvitar and hovered.

Luna's eyes widened.

He couldn't dodge—so he was trading.

Dratini dove.

BOOM!

Dragon Rush hit Larvitar directly.

At the same moment—

The rock fell.

CRASH!

It struck both of them in the explosion of dust and debris.

Silence fell.

Everyone stared into the smoke.

Seconds passed.

Then—

Dratini slowly slithered out, breathing heavily.

Bruised. Exhausted.

But standing.

Behind it, Larvitar lay motionless beneath the cracked rock.

Lucas exhaled slowly.

Ren raised his hand.

"Larvitar is unable to battle. Dratini wins."

Luna froze for half a second.

Then she exploded.

"Yes!!"

She rushed forward, scooping Dratini into her arms.

"You were amazing! Absolutely amazing!"

"Mi…"

Dratini nuzzled weakly against her cheek.

Lucas recalled Larvitar and applied a healing spray calmly.

"No exc

uses," he said with a small smile. "That was well played."

He glanced toward Luna.

"Next time, though."

Luna grinned.

"I'll still win."

Larvitar, newly conscious, stared at Dratini stubbornly.

Its small claws clenched.

This wasn't over.

Not even close.
