Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: The First Poké Ball

"In fact, our store has only been open for a few days, so the number of customers is still relatively small," Ren said calmly.

"But if you want to battle, you can just ask them out."

"The backyard of our store is a free battle venue. If you want to battle elsewhere, it's best to choose a relatively safe location."

"One more thing—Pokémon moves usually leave quite a lot of 'marks' on the battlefield. If you battle outside, you'll still need to deal with the aftermath properly."

Ren reminded Ava seriously. Although the Pokémon owned by the current customers weren't very strong yet, their attacks could still cause visible damage.

If it was inside a private space, that was fine. But public places were another matter.

"Okay~"

Ava replied with a sweet smile.

Then she lowered her head and looked at the chat group on her phone. After thinking for a moment, she happily took a photo of Bulbasaur eating energy cubes.

LittleBirdIrene: Newcomer checking in! Please take care of me, seniors ☕📷

Actually a Male Fox: New trainer's Pokémon photo!

LittleBirdIrene: Umm~ Mine is this one. It's called Bulbasaur.

This Lady Is a Campus Goddess: Wow~ It's so cute! And it's green. What type is it?

LittleBirdIrene: The Pokédex says Grass and Poison.

LarvitarOnlyEatsTables: That's a very healthy-looking green… and yet it's poisonous. How devious.

From Childhood to Adulthood: Huh? Brother, why are you back already? Didn't Larvitar cause trouble again?

LarvitarOnlyEatsTables: Damn it—forget it. I just bought a new desk and this little guy chewed it again. I'm stepping out to cry. JPG

LarvitarOnlyEatsTables: (Picture) (Video)

Actually a Male Fox: Hahahaha! I'm dying. Cousin, you finally got karma.

This Lady Is a Campus Goddess: Larvitar is so cute!, can you really bear such a talented house-destroyer? I suggest you sell it to me!

LarvitarOnlyEatsTables: Dream on.

...

"Pfft—"

Ava burst out laughing when she saw the photo sent in the group.

Originally, it was a very elegant and expensive desk. Now, the corners were covered in neat little bite marks.

She also finally saw Larvitar in the video.

In the footage, a handsome young man in a suit stood helplessly beside the desk, pointing at the gnawed corners while lecturing Larvitar.

Larvitar sat obediently on the floor, nodding seriously, wearing an innocent expression like it already knew it was wrong.

So cute…

Ava thought to herself.

But then the camera angle changed.

In another corner of the office, an entirely ruined desk appeared in view. Judging by the bite marks, it was obviously also Larvitar's handiwork.

What the—?!

"Boss… Bulbasaur won't tear the house apart too, right?"

Ava's heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly turned to Ren, who was also watching the video.

This was even worse than a husky.

If Bulbasaur was like this, wouldn't her father absolutely explode?

"Ah? No, no," Ren said quickly, blinking before smiling.

"Bulbasaur has a very gentle temperament. Pokémon like Larvitar are just… special cases. They're energetic and like chewing on things."

"Phew—thank goodness."

Ava let out a long breath and patted her chest.

"That scared me to death."

"By the way," Ren added, as if suddenly remembering something, "this is a Poké Ball."

He took out two specially designed balls from the cabinet at the front desk and handed them to Ava.

"You're among the first ten customers to purchase a Pokémon, so this is a commemorative edition. Think of it as a thank-you gift from the store."

"This is…?"

Ava looked at it in confusion.

"This is a Poké Ball—a necessary item for capturing Pokémon. Only after Bulbasaur enters it will it officially belong to you."

"Just throw it at Bulbasaur like this."

Under Ren's guidance, Ava hesitantly tossed the commemorative ball toward Bulbasaur.

In her widened eyes, Bulbasaur instantly turned into a red beam of light and was drawn into the open Poké Ball.

"This… what is this?"

When the Poké Ball landed on the ground and completely stopped moving, Ava stared at it in shock.

Magical creatures were one thing, but this kind of spatial technology was completely outrageous.

Liam, standing nearby, had already gone numb, staring blankly at the Poké Ball.

"It's hard to explain," Ren said, shaking his head. "Even if I did, you probably wouldn't understand."

He was far too lazy to explain where Poké Balls came from.

After all, people in the group had already suspected he was an alien.

Even if he explained, no one would really believe him.

Fortunately, under the system's subtle influence, no one cared too much about his "identity."

As long as it wasn't dangerous, it was fine.

"…Hey!"

Ava glared at Ren angrily.

That look of 'you wouldn't understand anyway' was seriously irritating!

"One of the Poké Ball's functions is allowing trainers to carry Pokémon with them at all times," Ren continued calmly.

"This will make things much more convenient for you."

"Yes!" Ava suddenly lit up.

"With this, Dad won't be able to discover Bulbasaur at all!"

She picked up the Poké Ball, released Bulbasaur again, and her whole body practically radiated excitement.

Seeing this, Liam finally couldn't hold back anymore.

"Boss," he said seriously, "I want to draw a Pokémon too."

With something like this…

What was he still afraid of?
