Chapter 28 - Chapter 0028 - Gojo Ruined the Plan

The smile lasted only two seconds before twisting. "Heh, little Megumi finally sees how great I am. Come on, jump into my arms."

"I refuse," Megumi Fushiguro snapped.

Veins popped on his forehead. What was wrong with him to ever expect anything from this guy. "Don't be so cold, I'm your guardian, basically your dad," Satoru Gojo said, spreading his arms and lunging forward.

"My dad is dead. Don't come any closer." Megumi Fushiguro turned and ran, but his short legs were no match for Satoru Gojo's long stride. He was quickly caught and could only struggle uselessly.

Akira pulled out his phone in time and recorded the precious scene. "Makoto really is peace."

Because of Satoru Gojo and his chaotic way of doing things, the path Megumi Fushiguro had finally chosen toward Tokyo Jujutsu High fell back into doubt. It had taken him a lot of effort to make that decision, only for it to wobble again after a few careless words. He stood there, clearly torn, unable to settle his thoughts.

Before, you were in Tokyo and I was in Saitama, and meeting once a week was manageable, like a change of pace. But if they had to live on the same campus, Megumi Fushiguro felt he might collapse before his sister ever woke up. Just imagining it made his head spin.

In the end, Akira stepped in with the presence of a "Makoto-like teacher." He first chased off the "fake teacher," then calmly explained in detail how that "fake teacher" loved being late, slacked off whenever possible, and was rarely seen, with actual teaching handled by others. Only then did he manage to pull Megumi Fushiguro back from backing out.

After some thought, Megumi Fushiguro reluctantly agreed to try auditing first. His student registration would stay in Saitama, and he would go to Tokyo Jujutsu High to sit in on classes when he had time. It was a compromise that left him uneasy but willing to move forward.

To be honest, Megumi Fushiguro was not really that bothered by Satoru Gojo. That was just the surface reason, while the deeper reason was his hope to transition and clean things up as smoothly as possible. He did not want to leave behind loose ends.

Megumi Fushiguro and his sister Tsumiki Fushiguro had been well known at their school, the kind of students people remembered. With his sister suddenly in a coma and him transferring schools, things could easily go wrong if handled poorly. Rumors and pressure were the last things he wanted.

Although Satoru Gojo could smooth things over with a few connections, Megumi Fushiguro had grown up being very independent. Unless it was absolutely necessary, he did not want to trouble others, even his own guardian. That habit was carved deep into him.

All of the siblings' living expenses so far had come from subsidies provided by Tokyo Jujutsu High. In exchange, Megumi Fushiguro was expected to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer in the future, essentially a form of scholarship. It was not that Satoru Gojo refused to give him more, but that Megumi Fushiguro did not want to take it.

His sister's care, the Curse Removal, and the handling of the culprit were all already in Satoru Gojo's hands. Handing over even these smaller matters made Megumi Fushiguro uncomfortable. There were lines he did not want to cross.

Satoru Gojo did not say much about this. After nearly ten years together, they understood each other well enough. He simply patted Megumi Fushiguro on the shoulder, then turned to Akira.

"I'll leave him to you," he said. "With you, even the 'Ten Shadows Technique' can definitely be taught properly."

Akira caught the meaning behind his words and replied quietly, "You've already checked my background?"

"With that many obvious hints, if I still couldn't figure it out, the Gojo Clan might as well be removed from the Three Great Clans," Satoru Gojo said with a confident smile. "Heh, the Three Great Clans. Maybe my ideal Makoto can be realized through you."

"I'll pass," Akira replied. "I've never planned to do anything to the Kamo Clan."

"It's all the same," Satoru Gojo said. "Your existence alone is the trigger for change."

With that, Satoru Gojo turned and left, continuing to act as the hands-off supervisor he liked to be.

"Akira-senpai?" Megumi Fushiguro asked.

Watching two men who both felt unfathomable whisper to each other, it would have been a lie to say Megumi Fushiguro was not curious. Still, Akira had no intention of satisfying that curiosity.

"It's nothing," Akira said. "Gojo-sensei has his own business. We just need to do what we should be doing. What do you think we should do now?"

"Training?" Megumi Fushiguro answered at once.

"No," Akira said, shaking his head. "I told you to calm down, not to swing from one extreme to the other."

Students who went overboard made Akira sigh. Being unhinged in battle could be a good thing, but in daily life he hoped their minds would stay functional.

"You haven't eaten dinner and you're injured," he continued. "If you don't want a short life, stop here. Eat first, take a shower, then sleep. Tomorrow, go ask for leave from your school. You don't need me to teach you how to do that, right?"

"No, thank you, Akira-senpai," Megumi Fushiguro replied.

He lowered his posture naturally. Once Megumi Fushiguro acknowledged someone, he sincerely treated them as a teacher and showed respect. Akira had clearly earned that respect.

His strength was solid, and his words were easier to listen to than most. Compared to others who spoke in an irritating way, he was far better. That alone made a difference.

After Megumi Fushiguro left, Akira turned to Maki Zenin. "So, what's next for us?"

"Of course we keep fighting," she said without hesitation. "Using Megumi as an opponent was not satisfying at all, so please accompany me until the end." The fighting spirit on her face had never faded.

"Weren't we supposed to be on vacation to relax?" Akira asked.

"This is my vacation," she replied. "There's no better way to relax. At most, we can soak in a hot spring afterward."

"I've never heard of any hot spring inns nearby," Akira said helplessly.

Judging by her attitude, unless he knocked her down, it would be hard to get away. He silently thought she might as well stay honestly in a hospital bed tonight and stop ruining his nighttime stroll around Saitama with Little Sha.

On the other side, Maki Zenin also decided to hit harder. Maybe because her five-senses training plan had started to show results, she felt that Akira was not entirely well intentioned. That suspicion pushed her further.

The result was that Maki Zenin really did end up lying in a hospital bed. Akira's plan to roam around Saitama at night also fell through, as he was injured badly as well, especially his legs, which took several solid hits.

Without tricks and relying purely on raw ability, Akira did not have a clear advantage over Maki Zenin. Even though she was injured, the more hurt she got, the crazier she became. In the end, she felt satisfied, while Akira was the one left unhappy.

Fortunately, the well-behaved and considerate Gardevoir stayed with him the whole time. Since they could not roam around Saitama, the two of them found a nice viewing platform nearby and watched the night scenery together. At least the vacation trip was not completely wasted.
