The Ability User Organization's missions were meticulously divided into six levels: S, A, B, C, D, E. S-level was the highest, E-level the lowest. In principle, Ability Users could only accept missions of their corresponding level or lower.
Also, although the highest mission level was defined as S, in reality, S-level missions had never appeared. Even A-level missions had only occurred twice, and Takeru had personally participated in both.
Besides that, the highest was B-level. There weren't many B-level missions either. The majority were defined as C or D-level missions. E-level missions were basically investigation missions or simple subjugation tasks.
So-called investigation missions were usually reports of monster-like existences appearing in certain areas. The person accepting the mission only needed to investigate.
Of course, if they discovered a threatening existence and thought they could handle it, they could also hunt it. Afterwards, submitting the mission with proof would allow the mission level to be raised based on the monster.
Generally speaking, the most dangerous weren't the high-level missions, but the inconspicuous E-level investigation missions.
However, for those with special talents who wouldn't force themselves to show off, investigation missions were quite simple.
After reviewing them, Takeru found the highest available was an A-level cleanup mission. The mission location was quite far from Chiba Prefecture, very similar to the previous Monster Island.
However, compared to the previous Monster Island, this discovered island was somewhat distant from human living areas, relatively less urgent. That was probably why Risa hadn't directly told Takeru about it.
"I'll accept this mission. And these two C-level cleanup missions near the island as well. Can I directly accept these three missions?" Pulling out three mission sheets, Takeru directly said.
"You're accepting an A-level mission alone?" Looking at the mission sheets in Takeru's hand, the girl asked nervously.
"What? Is it not allowed?" Hearing her surprised tone, Takeru asked, puzzled.
"N-no, it's not that... But A-level missions usually face large numbers of mutated animals, possibly including B-level ones, and even A-level monsters might exist..." Hearing Takeru, the girl said nervously.
"Oh that. Don't worry, I'm very strong." Seeing her nervous, hesitant expression, Takeru said with a light laugh.
"I... I understand. I'll process the procedures for you right away. May I ask when you plan to depart? I'll arrange a helicopter for you." Looking at Takeru, the girl directly said.
"Now." Takeru said without hesitation.
"I understand. Please wait a moment. I'll arrange it immediately." Hearing Takeru, the girl said respectfully.
Takeru waited calmly. Although helicopters were much slower than his own flight, he didn't know the way, so having a helicopter take him was quite convenient.
Mai, curious, had stayed behind to see what mission Takeru would accept. Seeing him accept an A-level mission alone, she was stunned.
"You're the only A-Rank Ability User?" Looking at Takeru, Mai said blankly.
"Yes. What's wrong?" Facing her shocked expression, Takeru was very calm.
"Rather than what's wrong, it's more like it's just too surprising!" Looking at Takeru's calm demeanor, Mai helplessly held her head, her expression full of complexity.
She had imagined what the so-called A-Rank Ability User would be like, at the very least, surrounded by numerous attendants, using the most luxurious transportation, exuding authority. But Takeru didn't seem to possess any of that.
On the contrary, he was very... ordinary? And remembering their first meeting in the mission world, where he appeared as an elderly man, Mai felt Takeru was probably a rather sly person...
"But, you're planning to complete an A-level mission alone? That should be a very large-scale mission, right? Even a team would probably need two or three days or more." Looking at Takeru, Mai asked again.
"Not that long." Hearing her, Takeru said confidently.
Seeing Takeru's confident expression, Mai opened her mouth but couldn't say anything. After all, she had only barely passed the C-Rank assessment and was still far from A-Rank. She didn't know what level of strength was required to be called A-Rank.
Noticing Takeru showed no intention of inviting her along, Mai chatted briefly before taking her leave. Takeru smiled and nodded to her, then continued waiting calmly in the lounge.
It didn't take long. A helicopter landed directly beside the courtyard. Several military officers quickly arrived and, learning Takeru had accepted the mission, respectfully saluted him.
Although the mutated animals on the island rarely came out, substantial military forces were still deployed nearby to guard the island, needing to continuously eliminate creatures attempting to land. Takeru going to eliminate this threat would also free up considerable military resources...
"Um, Nara-san, are you going alone?" Seeing Takeru by himself, the officer asked again.
"Yes, just me." Hearing his question, Takeru nodded seriously.
"Is that so? I understand." Seeing Takeru's serious expression, the officer nodded understandingly.
"Nara-san, this way please." Then, the two respectfully led Takeru out the back of the Ability User Organization, through a passage, to a large courtyard where two helicopters were waiting.
Since Takeru was alone, only one helicopter was needed. The pilot was already waiting. As Takeru and one officer boarded, the pilot quickly started the helicopter...
With the helicopter underway, Takeru calmly trained Chakra to pass the time, waiting for their destination.
This mission was a pleasant surprise for Takeru. New mutated animals meant new materials he could use to create new Pokémon.
As time passed, about three hours later, Takeru sensed the helicopter had arrived at the edge of a city and stopped.
"Nara-san, I apologize. The target island is about ten kilometers ahead. However, entering recklessly by helicopter risks attacks from numerous flying monsters. We'll need to switch to a speedboat." After stopping, the officer said seriously to Takeru.
"Directly ahead?" Hearing him, Takeru calmly asked.
"Yes."
"I understand. I'll go alone from here." Hearing him, Takeru directly said.
"Huh? You're going alone?" Hearing Takeru, the officer was startled.
"Yes." Saying this, Takeru flew directly into the air, rapidly heading in the direction indicated, disappearing from sight.
Only after Takeru left did the officer react. He realized that the circulating video was indeed Takeru himself. Perhaps only Takeru, as the A-Rank Ability User, possessed such power.
…
In less than five minutes, under Takeru's super speed movement, a giant island appeared within his perception range. What most concerned Takeru was the large number of powerful life forms inhabiting the island. This was clearly the target island.
As he approached, several mutated Steller's sea eagles locked onto Takeru. Seeing these eagle-type animals, basically four to five meters in size, Takeru showed a smile.
"How enthusiastic."
Although the sea eagles didn't understand why Takeru could fly without wings, they clearly knew he wasn't one of them. So they immediately regarded Takeru as prey.
Seeing one attacking with its sharp beak, Takeru showed no mercy. The instant it flew at him, he sidestepped and landed on its back.
Before the sea eagle could react, powerful electric current surged from Takeru, instantly paralyzing the eagle beneath him. Shortly after, it lost its life...
The moment it died, Takeru directly stored it in his inventory. He repeated the process with the remaining three, easily killing them.
After killing the sea eagles, Takeru slowly descended into the forest below. He casually manifested a large box, stuffed the eagle corpses inside, then stored the box in his inventory. This allowed more efficient use of his inventory space.
