Chapter 2 - The Start (2)

Emi... Yes, that might her. Maybe. I need evidence, a possibility for her to be the same soul as mine.

If so, she's possibly seen to be an orphan since she's from another world. An orphan who doesn't belong to this world, is clearly not hiding her identity.

"A loser for sure." I thought, I could feel like smirking at how stupid she looks.

Since we're one soul in different body, she might be an important character for me. If she's in the same mindset as mine though…

From the stupid looks of it, she seemed to be around... Five years old? Vulnerable, stupidly educated.

I reached out a hand for her, to pick her up from her ground.

"Come with me."

"Oh uh, okay…!"

She said as she tried catching up to me as I guided her out of the alley to a safer place, of course I would say it's my house.

"Please don't go easy on me..."

And you should stay homeless but I'm afraid you might be useful for future events, mayhap and perhaps… A distraction?

I, myself. Admit I'm naive enough to give people a chance to fool me.

Although, I'd say that it was to avoid having my real image shown? More of a coping mechanism.

"You're disgusting, I hope you die soon enough. Unfortunately for the sake of my lovely life, don't" I pondered, walking as goosebumps went in my body, feeling the water stained on the ground of the alley.

"Ugh... Ew." From the slight of the water from my shoe, disgust spread quickly to my face. Being uncomfortable could make my body become autism.

Autism? Is what my mom would assume the disorder I have.

"Alright, focus." I thought, shaking the discomfort off of my brain, going straight back to my usual look.

An usual look that's as a basic as my life.

While on our way to my house, we suddenly stumbled upon a guy with the paper bag and he turned to us, with a genuine smile appearing on his face before coming up to me and handing it over to me.

Emi was confused, she looked up towards us like a middle child, she is. Ugly and stupid.

"Here, it is nice to meet you."

A small thin smile on my face as my hand slowly went to grab the paper bag from his hand.

"Pleasure to meet you too, sorry for my rude action earlier…"

I replied, holding on to the paper bag gently as we looked at each other, like buddies. After he had heard my reply, he immediately chuckled, shook his head as he replied back,

"No need to apologize, it was quite awesome, to me."

"If it wasn't for your appearance, she would've been doomed over by those guys."

Right, if it wasn't for me… She would've been dead, and I can't get any of the information about this world without her.

"Ah, and what's your name?"

What's my name? Which name should I use…?

Xiao Liu or San San?

Sansan or San San, whatever. It just means "Three Umbrella" to represent my personalities or I don't know. Based of my books???

It was firstly written as "Saehyun Anto" in the files. I just can't keep my names for long, I would change it over and over until I feel comfortable with it.

And "Anto" was just another way to say my dad's name, or just ".A".

"..."

"Endrick" I said introducing myself. "... Endrick Weiss"

Do not question me on how I did it, they suddenly appeared in my head like a saviour. It is to hide my identity from this world.

His smirk grew bigger and said,

"Interesting name…"

"Just call me… Daniel."

"Pleasure to meet you, Daniel."

I said, taking out a bread from the paper bag before handing it to him as a "thanks" of giving it back to me.

At first glance, he was off-guard to see my sudden offer, taking a quick notice towards me before taking it.

"Thanks..."

He muttered, his eyes lowered to the bread in his hand. Seeing the way I gave him a bread, Emi looked up at me in plea for one, too.

"Can I have one... Too?"

Her tone had a hint of nervousness in it, but her eyes were definitely lit up from the sight of a bread.

Couldn't say less, I admire the texture and taste of bread. The sight of a bread could easily drawn you to look at it and imagined just how it feels to touch.

One look from a far, even from a window. You could tell just how hard or soft it is.

"Here." I said, giving one to her. Her small hands gripping on the bread firmly to not fall, staring at it for a few seconds.

"Thank you..."

Giving a smile that's seemingly genuine to her as a reply.

"Ah, are you guys on your way home?" He asked, biting the last bit of the remaining bread.

"If so, let me go with you guys."

Silence went on between us for seconds, I thought. "Did I hear that right?" I blinked a few times. "Huh?" I said.

An awkward smile appeared on my face, saying.

"Sure…?" I answered, slowly. Instantly regretting it, clenching my hands to fists, anxious.

"What if has Qiu Jing Wu??"

Walking down towards the way to my house, I still feel stupid for accepting him.

"Oh lord of harmony..." I pondered, my words were as if I was praying for him. In plea for someone to save me and take me back.

Emi quietly looked around, observing our surroundings as we walked down the crowded street.

Where people were promoting their product and selling. A glimpse of bread and she will go down for it.

"Sir..."

I froze at the sound of it, "sir?" I thought, looking down at her, confusion filled my face.

She was still chewing on to the bread, darting up to me like a lost puppy.

"What?" I asked, raising my eyebrow. "How old are you?"—silence. I thought for a moment before answering,

"I'm... Uhh—30 years old."

"Ooo"

Curiosity have gotten the best of her, ready to question lots of unnecessary questions. She paused for a moment.

Her look went back to the ground. I assumed she had shaken the thought of it.

"So... Mr Endrick? I assume you probably live in the woods, no?" He asked, sound as he's mocking. I felt uneasy with the smirk on his face.

"You could say that." I replied, my hand reached out to stroke the back of my neck with my head tilted to the side. "Aha..." Slowly muttering.

"..."

"Sir...?"

"Hm?"

I calmly replied to her muttering sound, she was tugging my sleeve as she called. Tilting my head as I waited for her to speak, she seemed uneasy.

"What is it, Emi?" I spoke, again. "..." She remained silent, before mumbling something.

"... Nothing, sir." Though she had said it, her expression didn't change.

She continued to chew on the bread, whom in her small hands. I took my chance to stroke the back of her head with my hand, gently., a thin smile slowly appears on my face as I looked down at her.

I still feel uncomfortable knowing that I'm now a male, in one of my characters' body. It stings me a little.

Turning my focus to the path, "Damn." I thought.

It was still quite a long way to go as we just arrived at the woods, Daniel sighed before walking in the woods first.

"..." I had no interest in getting along with him throughout the story.

I followed him along thorough in the woods, it wasn't really dark as light comes down from the trees, with the bushes from the sides seemed to have dried off after the rain.

They were still as mesmerizing to look at, switching my focus back to the pathway. "I feel tired already" I pondered, my eyes flickered as I tried keeping myself awake.

For a few seconds, I eventually giving up, I closed my eyes for a moment.

"Hey, you are already asleep?" He chuckled, clearly mocking as he looked at me.

My eyes were now unshut by him.

"Ah, my apologies." I apologized, looking at him back. He had a smirk on his face.

We merely continued to walk until we finally reached to my house. It wasn't dusty nor crusty, just a house that's as familiar as the other houses from the town.

We simply walked in after I had opened the door for them, I gestured her towards me.

"you can take the bread from the paper bag if you want." I said, placing the paper bag on the table in the kitchen.

Her eyes slightly lit up at me. "Really? Thanks…" She replied, in a soft tone. her hands slowly reached out to the paper bag, grabbing one bread out.

She stood there beside the table as she chewed the bread, muttering something while chewing. " Thanks." She thanked me, again.

I exchanged a smile with her, seemingly generous. Emi, whenever you feel alone..., please, go after me—I wouldn't admit it, never.

I glanced at Daniel, he was leaning beside the door with his arms crossed, distracted by thoughts as he watched over us.

"Don't you have anything to do here?" He suddenly spoked, taking me off-guard.

"No...?" I replied, nervously yet confused of his sudden question.

"I usually walk out during the day." I added, my expression had calmed. "That's boring." He said, a smile on his face.

"Well, I'd rather have a peaceful life than having to deal with some non-existent monsters." I said, jokingly about the last part.

Giggling at my own joke. There's no way monsters exist in this world, right? It doesn't look like a fantasy world either!

As I was about to speak again, he replied. "Good point, there is. I heard it is spreading around right now." I was surprised, froze. "... There is?"

I almost panicked, "Seriously? i was just joking..." He smirked, pushing off of the wall as he walked towards me. "Sad to hear that." He said, standing right in front of me now.

"What do you mean there is?" I asked, simply worried. He giggled at my expression, replying.

"There is. It is quite..., spreading around right now." He said, his smirk slowly turning to frown.

His eyes drifted to Emi, muttering. "How ignorant."—silence. We stared at each other for seconds until he decided to break the silence and said, with a smile.

"Why don't we make a team together? Since the "life saviors" aren't helping, perhaps we could?"

"No need, we should just mind our own—" I was interrupted as he argued. "No. They're way too slow." He spoke.

Sensing the thick air around us, Emi casually spoke. "Maybe we could try first?"

How nice of you to be accurate. I pondered.

We turned to her, thinking—I nodded in agreement. "Right." I said, looking back at him.

"Hm, nice one." He said, nodding as well.

"Then we're going to discuss—" he said. "No, I'm tired." I said, interrupting him.

"eh?"
