Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 : {Talent: Unity}

Talent Name: Unity

Motto: "We are more than a miracle."

Effect One: Mutual Bond

The body and spirit share a subtle connection, each influencing the other. As the body endures trials, it strengthens, and with it, the spirit sharpens, unlocking new potential. The clarity of the spirit accelerates the body's growth, and in turn, the body's resilience feeds the spirit. This mutual bond forms a cycle of continuous improvement—one that thrives only when in perfect harmony. Disturb this balance, and both the body and spirit begin to falter, leaving the user vulnerable to weakness.

Quote: "Lift me up, and I will carry you to the sky."

Effect Two: Help from the Other Side

In moments of need, the bond between body and spirit briefly transforms into a conduit for raw energy. The resulting surge amplifies strength, speed, and endurance beyond natural limits, turning the user into a force of pure vitality. This power, however, is fleeting. The more it is called upon, the more it risks depleting the spirit, leaving the user dangerously close to burnout.

The floating orb of light, shifting through shades of contrasting colors, darted toward his chest in a sudden burst.

Before Ren could react, it blurred into a streak, too fast for him to even track.

"W-what?"

He stumbled back, instinctively bracing himself. But as the warmth began to spread through his chest, his pulse slowed. The initial shock faded as he realized he wasn't in any immediate danger.

A comforting warmth spread outward, like the earth soaking in the first drops of rain after a long drought. His body absorbed it, and the ache in his head, the tightness in his muscles, melted away. It was as though he'd woken from a restful sleep, his body rejuvenated, full of vitality he hadn't felt in years.

In his mind, a vision took shape: a dry, desolate forest beneath a grey sky. A single beam of light pierced the clouds, casting rays over the barren earth, stirring the soil beneath. A bent sunflower reached for the light, its fragile stem straightening as if drawn by an unseen force. It was a simple, hopeful gesture—a quiet promise of renewal.

The vision brought with it an overwhelming sense of comfort, like being embraced by something maternal, tender.

Ren's body felt different now—lighter, younger. His movements were fluid, easy, like a child free from fatigue, able to run and play for hours without wear.

Whoosh.

His hand sliced through the air instinctively. His reflexes had sharpened, his movements faster and more precise. Every sense felt heightened, every detail sharper. The world around him seemed more vivid, more alive.

He looked down at the bathtub cover. It should've taken both hands to lift it, but when his palm touched the smooth surface, it felt impossibly light. He wrapped his fingers around it, lifting it with ease, as though it weighed nothing.

"Whoa."

The word escaped his lips before he could stop it. The power surged through him so suddenly, so completely, that his body almost seemed to forget its own limitations.

But as he stood there, still reeling from the sensation, a creeping unease settled over him. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was watching him.

"Huh?"

He turned, scanning the room slowly. The familiar decor, the smooth, clean surfaces of the room—nothing seemed out of place. The soft glow of the ocean light filtered through the glass, bathing the room in a serene, private ambiance.

But still, the sensation of being observed pressed on the edges of his awareness, subtle but undeniable.

"Am I hallucinating?" he muttered. "Or is this... part of the power?"

He clenched his fist, feeling the slight pressure of his fingers sinking into his palm.

Then, suddenly—wait.

A chill ran down his spine. His instincts flared. His heart raced, and the hairs on his neck stood up.

Ren jerked his head toward the glass. The floor-to-ceiling pane reflected only his own image, but there—just at the edge of his vision—was a faint outline. A shadow, or something else? It clung to the outside of the glass, nearly invisible, blending into the surroundings like a wisp of smoke.

Ren squinted, his pulse quickening. Was he seeing things?

It moved.

His breath caught in his throat. It was real. Something was watching him.

But then, as his pulse slowed, he realized it wasn't a threat. The creature—some sort of marine life—was so close to the glass that it had nearly gone unnoticed. Its form was fluid, almost ethereal, like an underwater jellyfish, though it had no tendrils or sharp edges. It rippled in an unnatural way, as if caught in a current that only it could sense.

Ren stared, still unsure of what he was seeing. There were no eyes, no visible face, but the feeling of being watched was unmistakable.

After a few long moments, the creature remained still, not moving further. Ren exhaled slowly, his mind relaxing.

"So, it's just a false alarm," he muttered, shaking off the lingering tension. "I'm such a scaredy-cat."

But even as he joked to himself, the unease lingered, the pressure on his mind easing just a little.

He couldn't help but wonder: If he hadn't been so attuned to his senses, would he have noticed the creature at all? It had been so close to him—was there more to this place than he realized? Perhaps something was watching him, not just in this room, but in ways he couldn't yet understand. Maybe even from angles he hadn't considered.

He glanced around again. No visible cameras, but that didn't necessarily mean there weren't any. The thought made him uneasy, but he quickly pushed it aside.

His goal had been accomplished—he had completed what he set out to do. It was time to rejoin the others.

Suddenly, Ren stopped in his tracks. His body felt lighter than before, his thoughts clearer. He needed to relieve himself.

The door clicked shut behind him.

Moments later, the room went still, and the blue light on the wall flickered back on, casting a quiet glow into the room once more.
