Lorenzo paced the length of his bedroom like a man on the verge of losing his sanity. He was unsettled, curious, and a little concerned that Xanthe might be causing havoc wherever she was.
He'd honestly expected her to come barging into his room right after they parted ways. But she hadn't.
And hours had passed. Long, agonizing hours.
He needed answers. Needed to know what that woman was plotting. And the longer he waited, the more anxious he became.
When she finally popped into his suite—using magic instead of the door like a normal person—Lorenzo immediately stormed out of the bedroom to meet her in the sitting area.
"What took you so long?" he snapped.
Xanthe's lips curved slowly into an infuriating smile. "Why?" she said lazily. "Were you dying to see me?"
Normally, he'd have fired back with something snarky, but tonight he wasn't in the mood to joke around with her.
"I want answers," he demanded firmly. "Now."
