# CHAPTER 14: The Executioner of the Rift
Inside the suffocating dome of the Tier-4 anomaly, the northern reef had become a slaughterhouse.
The jagged volcanic rocks were slick with dark blood and purple acidic slime. Veer knelt on one knee, his massive steel broadsword driven deep into the stone just to keep himself upright. His heavy leather tactical rig was shredded, his chest heaving as he spat a mouthful of crimson into the boiling seawater.
Around him, the remains of his high-tier expedition party were in a desperate, defensive circle. Out of the twelve elite Hunters who had sailed out, only four were left standing, their energy reserves entirely depleted.
"Commander Veer..." a female Hunter gasped, her arm hanging limply by a broken tendon. "The barrier... it's completely locked down. The Association isn't coming. We're sealed in."
Veer didn't answer. His eyes were locked on the monstrosity looming at the center of the reef.
It was a Tier-4 Calamity Beast—a *Void-Abyss Kraken*. The creature's massive, armored bulk rose forty feet above the water, its flesh a sickening mosaic of chattering teeth and blinking, detached eyes. It was a textbook **King (Level 6)** existence. Every time its massive, trunk-like tentacles slammed into the reef, the very space around it buckled, releasing a localized gravitational pulse that crushed the Hunters' defensive barriers like cheap glass.
*Watch the rhythm of the waves. The earth beneath the reef is shifting.*
Krishak's cryptic warning from three days ago flashed through Veer's mind. A bitter, tragic smile touched the commander's lips. *My boy... you saw it, didn't you? You knew this wasn't a standard outbreak.*
"Fall back behind me!" Veer roared, forcing his trembling legs to straighten as he pulled his broadsword from the stone. His Level 5 Grandmaster aura flared one last time, a brilliant but desperate gold. "If we're going to die in this damn hole, we take as many of these bastards with us as we can!"
The Void-Abyss Kraken let out a telepathic screech that shattered the eardrums of the remaining Hunters. It raised three colossal, spiked tentacles, aiming to flatten the last pocket of human resistance into a paste.
Veer braced for impact, closing his eyes.
But the blow never came.
Instead, a sudden, absolute silence fell over the entire reef. The howling wind died instantly. The boiling, chaotic waves froze mid-air, locking into static, glassy sculptures. Even the Kraken's massive tentacles halted over Veer's head, trembling as if hitting an invisible, immovable wall.
Veer opened his eyes, his breath catching in his throat.
The sickly purple fog at the edge of the barrier was parting. Walking calmly across the frozen, vertical crest of a twenty-foot wave was a figure clad entirely in a tattered, light-absorbing cloak of black mist.
The entity was tall and slender, its presence radiating a cold, majestic authority that made the Level 6 Kraken look like a common street pet. But the most terrifying part was its face—or lack thereof. Where features should have been, there was only a swirling, pitch-black void of gravitational distortion, eating the very light of the glowing purple rift above.
"What... what is that?" the female Hunter whispered, falling to her knees under the sheer, unmitigated weight of the newcomer's passive pressure.
The faceless entity didn't spare the humans a single glance. Its distorted, void-like gaze locked onto the Kraken.
The beast, sensing an existential threat it could not comprehend, panicked. It abandoned the humans entirely, whipping all eight of its colossal tentacles toward the cloaked figure in a frantic, desperate strike meant to pulverize a mountain range.
The faceless sovereign didn't dodge. He simply took one slow, deliberate step forward.
*Universe Origin Body Art: Absolute Anchor.*
Krishak didn't raise a hand. He merely shifted the internal density of his **Martial Warrior (Level 2)** vessel, aligning his personal mass with the absolute center of Earth's gravitational grid.
*BOOM!*
The moment the Kraken's tentacles slammed into the black mist around Krishak, they didn't crush him. Instead, the sheer kinetic rebound shattered the beast's own armored flesh. The tentacles imploded upon impact, exploding into a rain of blue blood and severed bone as if they had struck an indestructible, celestial anvil.
The Kraken screamed, a sound of pure agony.
"Noisy," a voice resonated through the dome. It was a dual-toned, terrifying grind of tectonic plates that made Veer's soul tremble.
The faceless figure raised a single, slender arm from beneath the tattered cloak. The fingers were obscured by the black mist, but as they curled into a loose fist, a microscopic wisp of the sealed universe-ash inside Krishak's spirit was pulled into the physical world through the *Primordial Origin Art*.
The world's laws went completely rigid. Because Earth was an isolated world with an absolute ceiling of **Early Saint (Level 7)**, the introduction of even a sub-atomic shred of pure Origin energy caused the local space to scream in protest. The space around Krishak's fist began to crack like dry porcelain.
"Restruction," the entity commanded.
With a simple, casual downward stroke of his hand, Krishak unleashed a concentrated blade of pure gravitational compression.
There was no flashing light. No grand explosion.
The line of compressed space simply cut through the air. The forty-foot Void-Abyss Kraken, along with the massive, King-level spatial dome it had erected, was neatly halved. The clean, mathematical line of the cut sliced through the beast, through the boiling sea, and cleaved the bedrock of the reef itself, opening a perfectly straight, bottomless abyss in the ocean floor.
The Level 6 Calamity Beast didn't even have time to bleed. The spatial friction instantly vaporized its cells, reducing the massive entity to fine, grey dust that scattered into the wind.
Silence returned to the reef.
Veer sat paralyzed, his knuckles white against the hilt of his sword. He was a high-tier Hunter, a man who had seen the apex powerhouses of Earth. But what he had just witnessed wasn't human strength. It wasn't even the power of an Awakener. It was the detached, effortless execution of a god.
The faceless figure slowly lowered his hand. The tattered cloak of mist billowed as he turned toward the surviving Hunters.
For a terrifying second, Veer thought the entity was going to erase them next to keep its secret. He instinctively crawled forward, placing his battered body between the faceless god and his remaining crew.
"My lord..." Veer choked out, his voice raw. "Thank you for the salvation. If... if you require a sacrifice for entering your domain, take me. Let my people go."
Within the swirling void of the entity's face, Krishak stared at the bloodied, broken form of his father. A strange, unfamiliar warmth tugged at the frozen edges of his ancient soul. This mortal man, utterly powerless against him, was still trying to shield others.
The dual-toned, grinding voice echoed one last time, softer now, echoing with a faint hint of an island breeze.
"Take your dead, Grandmaster. Return to your home. This sea is no longer yours to bleed in."
Before Veer could utter another word, the faceless entity stepped backward into the fog. The black mist flared, and in a fraction of a millisecond, the figure vanished completely from their senses, leaving behind only a cleared reef, a dead calamity, and the quiet, natural rhythm of the morning waves.
