Chapter 30 - The Song Family Kidnapping

A few days later.

Quinn Ye went down the mountain to walk the dog.

Big Fuzz walked leisurely in front.

Quinn followed leisurely behind.

The Rabbit lay in Quinn's arms, looking lazy and sleepy.

Ever since this rabbit followed Quinn, it did nothing but eat and sleep every day.

In just a short time, it had grown a layer of fat.

It had turned into a round, chubby rabbit.

Its fur had also grown back fully.

However, for some reason... originally it was a white rabbit.

But now, its fur had turned grey.

This puzzled Quinn a bit.

They walked all the way to the market at the foot of the mountain.

But upon arriving, they heard faint crying and commotion coming from the market.

Quinn immediately approached.

He saw many people gathered together, looking anxious. Some women were weeping.

Quinn frowned and asked a person nearby, "What happened?"

The man sighed. "Children from three families have gone missing. They've been searching for days with no trace. I'm afraid they've already met a terrible end."

Hearing this, Quinn immediately thought of what Bella Bai had said a few days ago.

A group of Evil Cultivators had appeared within the Heavenly Martial Empire, specifically targeting children.

Multiple cases had already occurred.

For this reason, the Three Great Sects had even sent disciples to assist the Empire in capturing these Evil Cultivators.

"Could it be the work of those Evil Cultivators?"

Quinn muttered to himself.

Looking at the weeping parents, he felt quite heavy-hearted.

Who wouldn't be anxious if their child went missing?

Children are the flesh and blood of their parents.

It was a pity that Quinn couldn't help them much. He could only silently pray for the children's safe return.

Seeing these tragic events, Quinn lost the mood to walk the dog.

He was about to return up the mountain.

Suddenly.

Quinn saw the Little Beggar standing not far away. He was dirty and unkempt, staring straight at Quinn.

Quinn paused.

He recognized him.

This was the little guy who tried to steal pears from his yard not long ago.

Quinn immediately walked toward him.

The boy seemed to have something to say and also walked toward Quinn.

"This is for you."

The Little Beggar spoke first, holding something with both hands.

Quinn looked closely and couldn't help but smile.

It was a steaming hot Steamed Bun.

The Little Beggar's hands were washed very clean, without a speck of dirt, as if he feared Quinn would be disgusted by him.

"You stole it?"

Quinn asked, squinting his eyes.

The Little Beggar huffed, dissatisfied. "I bought it."

He pointed to the bun shop nearby.

Quinn was curious.

"Where did you get the money?"

"I picked a bundle of herbs in the mountains and sold them to the pharmacy for money," the Little Beggar said somewhat proudly.

Quinn nodded.

"That's the right way. Self-reliance is much better than stealing."

Quinn took the bun from the Little Beggar and took a bite.

"Not bad. Delicious."

Quinn smiled.

Seeing that Quinn didn't dislike him at all, the Little Beggar felt excited and smiled too.

"I took twenty pears from you. I will return twenty buns. This is the first one."

The Little Beggar said seriously.

Quinn was amused.

This guy knows gratitude.

"No need to repay me. Keep the money to buy food for yourself."

But the Little Beggar shook his head stubbornly.

"I see you living on the mountain, having to farm the land yourself. You probably don't have an easy life either, so I can't owe you."

Quinn: "..."

Okay then.

I have actually been pitied by a beggar.

Who asked me, Quinn Ye, to be a mere farmer?

"Alright then. I'll wait for you to buy me buns."

"Mm!"

Quinn finished the bun and was about to turn and leave.

Suddenly, the Little Beggar followed him.

"What is your name?"

He asked innocently.

"Quinn Ye."

The Little Beggar paused. "Your name sounds so nice."

Then he lowered his head.

"Unlike me. I don't even have a name."

Quinn stopped.

"Do you want a name?"

The Little Beggar froze, then nodded repeatedly, his eyes full of longing.

"I don't want people to call me Little Bastard forever."

Quinn patted his head.

Although his hair was messy, Quinn showed no sign of disgust.

On the contrary.

He really liked this little beggar.

At least, this little guy had a backbone.

This was what Quinn appreciated the most.

"How about I give you a name?"

The Little Beggar looked eager but also cautious.

"Really?"

"Of course. I remember you said your father's surname was Guo, right?"

The Little Beggar nodded.

Regarding his memories of his parents, he only remembered that his father seemed to be named Guo. He wasn't even entirely sure.

"Alright. How about... Bob Guo?"

The Little Beggar curled his lip.

"Sounds like a kid's name. Or a random passerby."

Quinn didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Aren't you a kid?

"Then let's change it. How about Finn Guo?"

Quinn smiled. "Finn rhymes with my name, Quinn. It means you are related to me by fate. And in legends, Finn is the name of a great hero."

The Little Beggar tilted his head and thought about it.

"Finn Guo..."

"That name isn't bad."

"Thank you for giving me a name."

"From now on, I am Finn Guo!"

Finn Guo waved his hand and ran cheerfully into the distance.

There, several other little beggars of similar age were waving at Finn.

Quinn suddenly remembered something.

"Be careful! It's not safe around here recently."

"I know!"

Quinn left the market, intending to go back up the mountain.

Suddenly, a squad of men and horses came charging toward him.

"Right here!"

The leader, a Black-armored Man, pointed at Quinn and shouted loudly.

Quinn looked blank.

What's the situation?

The horses roared over, and soon Quinn was surrounded.

Quinn was wary.

"What do you want? I don't have any money."

The Black-armored Man stared at Quinn for a while, then laughed disdainfully.

"Turns out he is a mortal with zero cultivation. I thought this so-called 'Expert' was powerful?"

"Take him away."

Several burly men jumped out from behind the Black-armored Man, tied Quinn up directly, and threw him onto a horse.

Then they galloped away.

Only Big Fuzz remained standing there. He yawned and watched as Quinn was taken away.

"Little Rabbit, Master is in your hands."

He shook his head and walked leisurely up the mountain, showing no worry for Quinn's safety at all.

Quinn rode on the horse, his hands tied, unable to move easily.

However, the Rabbit was still in his arms (tied up with him).

"Who are you people? Why are you kidnapping me?"

Quinn asked in confusion.

The Black-armored Man sneered. "We are from the Song Family. We heard there was some 'Hidden Expert' on Cloud-Drifting Mountain, so we came to capture you."

"Song Family?"

Quinn paused.

Could it be the Song Family of West Ridge that Princess Tiffany mentioned before?
