A few days later, Dennis, his seven wives, and Destiny had finally had their fill of Ruby City. Even though it was still summer break, they were heading back to Emerald City. William, Elenor, and Martha dropped them off at the station. After the goodbyes—specifically the farewells between the grandfather, the two grandmothers, and their grandchild—Dennis, Daisy, Diana (who was carrying Destiny), Dahlia, Donna, Deborah, Dulcia, and Daphne boarded the high-speed train. With a final wave to William, Elenor, and Martha, the train began its journey toward Emerald City.
There was a hint of sadness in leaving their parents again, but they had to get back to enjoy the rest of their vacation; by next week, they were expected at the stadium for the inter-school competition. As Dennis watched the dark scenery rushing by outside, Daisy suddenly leaned her head on his shoulder. He turned to look at her.
"Are you sleepy?" Dennis asked.
