That night, Dennis sat on the living room sofa with the television on, opening his laptop to type an email to his mother to ask about his own identity. Daisy, sitting beside him while watching a movie on TV, glanced at what he was writing. After reading a bit of his draft, she turned her head and began reading his screen quite openly.
"Honey, why are you asking Mom who your biological parents are?" Daisy asked.
"I need to know the truth. Sorry if I startled you," Dennis answered, not wanting to hide anything from her.
Seeing Dennis's serious expression and his clenched jaw, Daisy leaned against his arm and read in silence, though she occasionally stole a glance at his face.
