Dennis stared at Brad, who was looking back at him with an uneasy expression. Then Brad looked down at his feet, as if wishing they would just move and carry him away from there. Dennis folded his arms across his chest, and Daisy, standing beside him, put her hands on her hips; both of them waited for what Brad was going to say. Then, with a shaky voice,
"Sorry. All this time I thought you were the one she was seeing behind my back because she always used your name and claimed she was busy being your emotional support," Brad said.
"Now it's clear it wasn't me, right?" Dennis said, sounding slightly annoyed.
"So you were always a jerk to Dennis just because of a misunderstanding? And you're not going to apologize?" Daisy asked, shooting straight from the hip while handing Brad back his smartphone.
Brad went quiet instantly. He ran a hand through his hair and looked away, then took a deep breath and let it out. He turned back to Dennis and reached out his hand.
