Chapter 89 - Chapter: The Fatal Strike and the Guardian

The battle raged across the shattered landscape, the air thick with magic and destruction. Nyx darted through the void-torn sky, staff crackling with energy as she unleashed a torrent of attacks at Kira. But the Legendary World Destroyer was relentless.

A massive surge of dark energy erupted from Kira, forming a spear of pure destruction aimed directly at Nyx's chest. Her eyes widened as she felt the raw power of the attack—faster than anything she had faced before, stronger than she had anticipated.

"No!" she shouted, raising her staff to conjure a shield—but the energy was too fast, too dense, too deadly. Time seemed to slow as the tip of Kira's spear grazed her magical barrier.

Then, in an instant, a protective aura flashed between them.

Vario had appeared. His hands glowed with concentrated majiv energy, a shimmering wall of light erupting in a perfect arc in front of Nyx. The spear slammed into Vario's shield with a deafening explosion of energy, scattering fragments of rock and magical residue across the battlefield.

Nyx stumbled back, shocked. "V-Vario?"

He gritted his teeth, his robes whipping in the wind as his eyes burned with determination. "I told you… no one hits you while I'm here."

Kira's dark aura recoiled for the first time. "Impossible… You—are not strong enough!"

Vario tightened his grip, pouring every ounce of majiv into the protective barrier. Sparks of blue and gold shot out in all directions as his magic absorbed the fatal strike, shielding Nyx completely. "Strength isn't always measured by power alone… sometimes it's measured by what you protect."

Nyx blinked, her breath catching. "You… saved me…"

Vario didn't speak. He just glared at Kira, the energy around him humming louder than before. "This ends now."

Kira roared, attempting another strike, but Nyx, now recovered, joined Vario. Together, their combined magic created a counterforce that surged against the Legendary World Destroyer. Nyx unleashed her Celestial Prism while Vario channeled Majiv Convergence, their powers intertwining in a dazzling display of light and energy.

The collision sent a shockwave through the floating mountains, leaving trails of sparkling energy in the sky. Kira staggered, momentarily stunned by the combined onslaught.

Nyx turned to Vario, her eyes filled with gratitude and awe. "I… I wouldn't have survived that without you."

Vario's expression softened, just for a moment, before he refocused on Kira. "Don't make me repeat it."

With a final surge, Nyx and Vario struck together, forcing Kira to retreat—wounded, humbled, and shocked. The sky calmed slightly, the world around them still fractured but no longer trembling from imminent destruction.

Nyx exhaled, her staff dimming. "You… really are incredible."

Vario shrugged, tired but proud. "I just can't let anyone hurt my friends."

For the first time in the battle, Nyx felt truly safe. And she knew, no matter what came next in this chaotic fantasy world, she would never face it alone.
