Chapter 37 - The Manager Brings His Wife

The store had barely recovered from Leroy's Blue Bull fiasco when Feria's sharp gaze caught movement near the front entrance. The bell above the door jingled softly, and in walked a tall man with a calm, authoritative presence, followed closely by a petite woman with a warm smile and keen eyes.

"This is my wife," the manager announced, puffing slightly. "Everyone, meet Marla. She's here to observe our operations."

Nyx immediately spun around, eyes wide. "Ooooh, a visitor! I wonder if she likes chaos… or brainrot!"

Bella arched an eyebrow, leaning against a shelf. "Observation, huh? That's code for 'I'm judging your incompetence'."

Vario, wings folded neatly, gave a small nod. "Stay calm. This is a routine inspection. Let's not give them any reason to intervene drastically."

Yuwen flicked her tail, scanning the new arrival. "Interesting. I sense no magical interference… yet. But humans are unpredictable in their own ways."

The manager stepped forward. "Marla and I came to see how well you're running the store." His eyes swept over the chaotic aisles, crooked labels, and half-spilled instant noodles. "I trust you've all been keeping things under control?"

Nyx bounced. "Under control? Ha! More like… barely surviving, but in the most fun way possible!"

Marla smiled warmly, looking around. "So this is where all the excitement happens. It looks… lively."

Bella crossed her arms, smirking. "Lively? You mean chaotic, dangerous, and on the brink of disaster."

Leroy shuffled awkwardly, holding another can of Blue Bull. "Uh… it's mostly harmless, I swear."

Marla's gaze fell on Vario. "And who is this?" she asked.

"This is Vario, one of our protectors and enforcers of order," the manager explained. "He keeps the chaos in check—most of the time."

Nyx gasped dramatically. "Enforcer of order?! That's so Vario! He's like… a shadowy brainrot guardian!"

Vario gave a small nod, letting the comment slide.

Marla stepped further in, examining the shelves. "I've heard of unconventional workplaces," she said thoughtfully. "But this… this is something else."

Feria rolled her eyes. "Tell me about it. You have no idea what happens here on a daily basis."

Nyx spun dramatically, pointing to Leroy. "Like today! Leroy stole the Blue Bull shipment!"

Leroy groaned, covering his face. "I already apologized!"

Marla laughed softly. "I can see why my husband needed to bring me here. This place… it's a mix of chaos and charm."

Bella smirked. "Charm? If by charm you mean almost getting killed by brainrot every day, then yes."

Vario allowed a small smirk. "It's not as dangerous as it seems. Mostly."

Nyx bounced. "Mostly?! That's perfect! We'll show you the fun parts next!"

Marla chuckled again, her smile warm enough to calm even Nyx's hyperactive energy. The manager sighed, looking at the team with a mix of pride and resignation. "Alright… let's see how well you all handle a proper inspection."

And just like that, the convenience store, already teetering on chaos, gained another witness to the madness—one who might just survive it with a sense of humor intact.
