Chapter 1 - Fresher

Celian City, Military Academy.

Today was the first day for the Freshman Students. The Celian Military Academy was known for its high-class education and its top-class resources, giving students an excess of high-level skills and monster material, at a very low price.

A huge crowd of people were gathered at the gate of the academy, and amidst this crowd was a young boy dressed in a student uniform of the Celian Military Academy, who was running through the crowd in haste, trying to catch the black dog.

"Blacky!" Lukas called for the dog in frustration, panting from the continuous chase.

"Woof! Woof!" The Black dog, listening to his words, paused and barked at him with excitement.

Lukas grabbed the old-looking gourd from his backpack and drank a few long gulps of the water.

"Huff... huff... Blacky come here!" He shouted. In reply, Blacky barked back at him, running into the Military Academy.

"No…"

Seeing Blacky enter the Military academy, he quickly went after him at full speed.

As he entered through the main gate, Blacky was nowhere to be found.

"Not again, where am I gonna look for him now?"

Lukas grabbed his head in frustration and started to look for Blacky, who had vanished in the crowd.

After looking for almost half an hour, he found Blacky, playing on a mountain behind the Military Academy. He was chasing after a fat white rabbit.

"Caught You, where will you run now?" Lukas grabbed Blacky from behind, stopping this unruly dog. While the rabbit quickly ran away, Blacky stared back at Lukas with his ear dropping sheepishly, panting with his tongue out.

He stared at his mischievous dog with helplessness.

"What should I do now? I am already late for class because of you."

"Awoo…"

"I have to skip this class because of you," Lukas said in a low voice, and carried Blacky back home with him.

This journey cost him another half an hour, though he tried his best to come back as fast as possible, and luckily, he arrived just in time for the second class.

When he entered the class, he found almost every seat occupied, but he spotted a hand waving at him.

The owner of the hand was his childhood friend, Rayan. They had been in the same kindergarten, graduated from the same high school, and even attended the same college.

Lukas quickly went to him, sitting on the last-second bench with his old mate.

"Skipping lectures from the first day, are you trying to compete with me?" Rayan said, jokingly.

"What was the first lecture about?" Ignoring Rayan's questions, he asked, taking out his notebook.

It's not like he was serious with his studies; it was just his habit to draw some random line on notebook while talking in the middle of the class.

"Just a simple introduction, and some unimportant rules," Rayan replied in a lazy voice.

"Anything else?" Lukas asked while opening his notebook.

"Oh, she also told us that those free monster skills will be given to us a week later, because there were some problems on the way, so the cargo got delayed."

"A week later… could it be that some monsters have invaded the main highway, and are causing trouble?" Lukas said while sketching a random line on the blank page of his notebook.

"Um, does that mean these monsters are gonna invade the Celian City soon, and it's almost the same time as we joined the military academy?" Rayan added.

"All of this is happening at the exact time we joined the college," Lukas.

"Maybe, we really are the chosen ones. The world's future is in our hands," Rayan.

"Hm, we should make a plan for our future moves before the Celian City falls."

"Hey, you two idiots, can't you talk in a low voice?" At this moment, a slightly fat boy, who was almost double the size of these two, interjected in the midst of their world-saving plan.

"Sorry, bro, hehe…" Rayan smiled at the fat boy, laughing awkwardly in embarrassment.

"Hmph," The fat boy snorted and said nothing else.

Slowly after a teacher came into the class. This teacher looked quite young, dressed in a tight-fitting shirt, his muscles peaking out from the thin fabric of his shirt, catching a lot of attention from girls.

"Hello, students, my name is Ethan, and I will be your physical and combat instructor, but before that, all of you need to learn some basic traits of monsters. Can anyone tell me how many types of monsters there are?"

Ethan looked at every student with a serious gaze.

Lukas was also looking around in confusion. What type of monster? Aren't they just monster, at best they can be classified: the flying ones, the aquatic ones, the ground ones.

Just as Lukas was wondering, a boy stood up and gave the same answer as him.

But Ethan still didn't look satisfied with the answer and said, "Anyone else?"

This time, a tall girl with long straight hair, dressed in a denim jacket and jeans, stood up from her seat and said, "The Monsters are divided into several different categories, and the most common amongst them are mutants, which are again divided into three categories: Aquatic, Aerial, and Terrestrial, as that boy said earlier."

"Good, do you know what other type of monsters are?" Ethan praised the girl with another question.

"Other types are: Undead and Demons." The girl replied with confidence.

"Good, anything else?" Ethan.

"…" The Girl.

"Ok, sit down, for your age, you really know a lot." Ethan praised the girl one more time before turning to the other students.

"Among the monsters, the most common ones are the Mutant, which are mutated from the already existing creatures. These types of monsters can be extremely weak to extremely strong, depending on the mutated species."

Ethan started to explain with patience, looking at every student in class, his eyes acting as a surveillance camera.

"The second type of monsters are Undead, they are born from the dead one, for this reason, after killing the monster, burning their body is a must. You will just be waiting for another monster birth, and these Undead are a bit hard to deal with, because they are basically dead ones, but they are still manageable."

"At last come's Demons, which are really hard to deal with because they are no longer any monster, they are entirely different species, and these Demons are actually part of the Special Categories of monsters, which are entirely different races like Demons, Dragons, Phoenix and many more."

"Hey, Rayan, didn't you want a pet dragon? You got some hope now." Lukas whispered in a low voice while looking at the podium.

"Nah, not just pet dragon, I will become the dragon slayer, hunt dragons until I have all the dragon's skills, and I will be the official Dragon King. Bro, imagine…"

Rayan quickly became excited, but his excitement didn't last long as his gaze met with Ethan's.

Ethan gave him a long stare before continuing his lecture.

"You guys know that the skills college will provide you are a mix of Undead and Mutants. As for special categories, they are something reserved for higher-ups. Even if you're lucky enough to get a monster core of these special categories' beast, you will have to hand it over to the government, and even the weakest one usually goes in 100's of millions."

Just like this, an hour passed, Ethan explained many things about the battlefield, and how things actually work there, and a few survival tips.

After the class was over, every student started to leave the class one after another, while Lukas and Rayan sat there discussing their world-saving master plan.

"Gr... gr…"

At this moment, some noise came from the outside.

"You stupid dog."

"Gr…"

"What is happening outside?" Rayan asked with confusion.

"Let's take a look." Lukas quickly picked up his bag and went out, followed by Rayan.

"Ah… fuck… You son of bitch!"

When they came outside, Lukas was shocked to find the Blacky was already there, and biting the Fat boy, the one who was sitting behind them in the class.

Lukas quickly grabbed Blacky, but he continued to growl at the fat boy, threatening him with wide-open jaws.

"You mf! How dare you…" The fat boy roared in anger, but was quickly pulled back by two boys behind him. As they whispered something into his ears in a low voice. Hearing their words, the fat boy quickly calmed down and went away with them, but they left a threat behind for them, "I will be waiting for you outside."

"Bro, you are cooked," Rayan said, looking at him with some sympathy.

"What do you mean by me? You are also coming with me." Lukas said while dangling Blacky in the air.

"Hell nah, it got nothing to do with me." Rayan stepped back, making a bit of distance from him.

"Woof! Woof!"

"Shut up! It all happened because of you." Lukas looked at Blacky with anger, wanting to beat him up, but couldn't bring himself to do it, and could only sigh out loud.
