"NO!" Sofía screamed, thrashing wildly in his grip, twisting her body in desperate attempts to break free. But the truth mocked her even as she struggled his man wasn't human. How could she possibly escape something like him?

His shoulder dug painfully into her stomach as he carried her away in long, powerful strides, toward God-knew-where. The terror of being held like this trapped, helpless was suffocating.

Rain slammed down relentlessly, leaves thrashing violently around them as the forest raged. Twigs snapped sharply beneath his boots with every step.

She beat her small fists against his back again and again, but it was useless. All she earned was aching hands and mounting despair.

Her sobs were swallowed by the storm, tears streaming down her face and blending with the rain. Blood rushed to her head from the way she was slung over his shoulder, dizziness creeping in, thick and disorienting.
