**Day 27 Noon Omui Guild**
I got woken up. Even though I was sleepy. Dragged to the guild. Even though I'm not guilty. Unjust verdict.
Got yelled at even after getting back.
This time it's so obviously, naturally, goes-without-saying true that I'm not guilty.
And yet somehow I still get yelled at?
I passionately appealed that just steadily whacking monsters shouldn't be a crime, but got yelled at?
I mean, I didn't hear anything about a monster surge? Nobody mentioned a massive raid? Yeah, the gobs didn't say a word either.
How was I supposed to know? The kobolds didn't tell me "Hey, we're in the middle of a super huge stampede right now!" or anything!
And then they hit me with "Why didn't you report it immediately?" Busy whacking nonstop—how was I supposed to go report? I was extremely busy, super occupied with whacking!
That's like telling villagers getting attacked "Report while you're being attacked!" Super harsh, right? Are the villagers supposed to run to report with kobolds chomping their heads?
And yet I got yelled at?
The grilled fish—I only sold it because people kept asking!
I felt bad seeing them hungry so I grilled some fish... Well, I made a profit, though.
And still got yelled at?
Then the class rep confiscated it!? That's downright sleazy. Sleazier than poachers in Akogi Bay. Definitely not nice!
Anyway, they kept coming one after another! Only thing to do was keep whacking! Beat after beat, maniac style, nonstop pounding! When that many go don-doko don-doko, anyone would think "Monster Master level!" right? You'd whack them, yeah? Normal? How come nobody gets that? And why am I the one getting yelled at?
"Um, Haruka-kun. As guild master, let me at least thank you for stopping the monster surge. Thank you. That number... this town would've been in serious trouble. Adventurers and soldiers would've taken heavy casualties. Honestly, we were saved... in the end."
The guild master looked super troubled and the conversation wasn't going anywhere, so I asked the passing loose-lipped, smooth-talking, gonna-get-yelled-at-later receptionist onee-san.
Apparently, normally when a big raid happens and the guild + soldiers repel it, all the magic stones and weapons from the defeated monsters get bought up first. Then half gets distributed to the adventurers based on rank, and the rest is split between the guild and the town. Town uses the money for wall repairs, guild distributes to families of the injured or dead and covers interception costs.
But this time they waited all day and no monsters came. Yeah, perfect—no prizes... There weren't any. I got scammed, so I'm the victim!
So the adventurers didn't fight, but they can't go unpaid. Makes sense—they shelled out 500 ele each for fish?
Plus the town walls didn't get a single scratch. Well, obviously—no monsters showed up. Unfortunately, the town didn't become monster-famous.
Guild took almost no damage. They lit bonfires and stuff, so maybe a tiny expense?
And I'm not an adventurer, wasn't summoned, so no share. Yeah, I don't remember getting called?
What's the problem?
In the end, I soloed the whole thing, so confiscating is weird, but rules say they have to. But if they confiscate, they can't distribute to me—even though I did the killing.
The town said they'd give me a reward separately, and I've already got the most valuable stuff on hand. Once I cash it in, big money. The rest I gave up on anyway, and I made a killing on grilled fish, so whatever. But the guild master isn't satisfied... apparently. So I said I don't need it, let the lord and guild decide, and ran away. Conversation was too long.
Received 100 gold coins as the second payment for the previous magic stones sold. 10 million ele. Yesterday's confiscation got turned into 5x profit.
They bowed deeply and promised to figure out some allocation for this surge too, but I just got 10 million ele—money's whatever?
I mean, they still can't even pay out the previous stones fully. If I take more guild money now, magic stone sales will stop again. I've got a crazy pile building up that I can't cash in.
But they agreed to a special exception for buying this batch too. Went straight to the buy counter—receptionist onee-san's face is twitching? Facial neuralgia?
Appraisal for the surge stones is backed up; overtime again today.
Of course I mercilessly dumped a mountain of stones on the table. She glared teary-eyed, so I said "My share can wait anytime. This'll mean another bonus for you—I'll tell the guild master~!" She instantly cheered up and took them. Yeah, for a bonus she'll probably work super hard.
And that massive pile of clubs—even if distributed, no way they can sell them all! Impossible! Everyone already has multiple! If they actually moved that many, this town is seriously doomed. Citizens would end up equipping like ten clubs each. Full club-heavy armament.
Even gobs would run from a town like that. Guaranteed. The day this place gets renamed "Club Town" is coming soon. When it does, I'm outta here. Yeah, that town would definitely be way more dangerous than the forest!
**Day 27 ended**
