Chapter146: The Symphony of the Ashen Pulse

[Visual: The screen glitches. The colors of the world bleed out until only grey, black, and the pulsating crimson of Diari's mark remain. The sound of a distorted heartbeat thumps rhythmically—thump, thump... crack. The Grandmother's face is hidden by a veil of living shadows, her eyes glowing like dying stars.]

The air in the courtyard solidified into a tomb. This was no longer a battle of swords; it was the Metamorphosis of Despair. Diari's grandmother, the weaver of blood-magic, stepped forward. She didn't use a curse of fire or ice. She used something far more sinister—The Echo of Perception.

"Behold, my silent beggar," she hissed. Her voice felt like rusted needles stitching through Diari's eardrums. "You hold your breath to save them, but your very existence is the poison. Every time your heart beats, it is a crime against their peace. I have rewritten the laws of this house. To Rina, you are not a husband; you are the physical manifestation of her every failure."

Suddenly, the ground beneath Diari turned into a mirror of liquid obsidian. He looked down and didn't see himself. He saw a monster—a creature with skin made of cracked dry mud, eyes like hollow pits of ash, and hands that turned everything they touched into rot. This was the image the Grandmother had projected into Rina's soul.

[Dialogue: The screen shakes with every word Rina speaks. Her voice is layered with a thousand echoes of disgust.]

Rina: "Why... why won't you just disappear? Look at you. You aren't even human anymore. You are a stain on the floor of my life. Every time I look at you, I feel like I am drowning in filth. You claim to be 'faithful'? Your faith is a cage! Your love is a sickness! You are the 'Ugly One,' the 'Brainless One' who thinks a beggar's silence can buy back a queen's heart. Get out... or die. Just stop being."

The weight of her words was physical. Diari felt his ribs cracking under the pressure of her hatred. He looked at the child in Rina's arms. The infant's skin was turning translucent, showing the veins underneath, which were pulsing with the same black rhythm as the mark on Diari's back.

The Grandmother: "Here is the twist, Diari. I have linked your vitality to his pain. Every time you try to be 'brave,' every time you try to stand up, the child feels a thousand stabs of ice. Your strength is his agony. Your resilience is his slow death. Will you continue to be the 'Hero' while your son pays the price in blood?"

Diari's silence became a scream trapped in a void. He wanted to reach out, to touch the child's small hand, but he saw his own fingers turning into grey ash, crumbling into the wind before they could even move. He was fading. He was becoming a ghost in his own home.

Diari (Internal Monologue - The Void): "I am broken. My mind is a shattered glass where every piece reflects a different version of my failure. One mistake... one single moment of weakness, and now my entire life is a debt I can never pay. They call me 'Ugly.' They call me 'Lacking in Manners.' But they don't see the fire I am walking through just to stand near them. If my heartbeat hurts him... then I must stop my heart. But how can I stop my heart when it only beats for her?"

The Grandmother laughed, a sound that cracked the frozen rain in the air. She leaned down, her cold, dead breath hitting Diari's ear.

"Die in silence, Diari. Become the dust you are meant to be. This is the fate of those who dare to love more than they are allowed."
