Chapter 39: The Sleep of the Demons and the Secret Prayer

The Sleep of the Wicked

The night became deeper and darker; the heat within the cemetery turned into a coldness that bit into the bones. Morgana said to Liva's mother, "It is time to rest and sleep. Let these prey stay here, tied up like dogs. Let's go to sleep." Morgana, Liva's mother, and Liva—with arrogance from torturing their prey—fell into a very deep, demonic sleep under the black fire. They thought the prey were so weak they couldn't even move. But in that silence, Rina opened her eyes; she hadn't slept, she was still awake, fighting her pains. Suddenly, she saw something strange—a very faint white light glowing from beneath the black soil, moving slowly like a hidden path.

Diari's Suffering and the Father's Tears

At that exact moment, as Rina tried to understand this light, Diari's condition suddenly worsened. His body began to shake violently, and his breath became short; he wasn't giving up, but his heartbeat was becoming very faint, slowly fading. The purple chain was glowing brightly, trying to take his last breath. Rina's father, seeing his daughter's pain and Diari's struggle between life and death, could no longer bear to see the children suffering. He couldn't hold back; his heart was full of tears, and in a low, broken voice, he began to pray to the Great God: "O Creator of light and darkness, save these innocent souls... do not let the wicked win." His tears fell onto the cold ground, mixing with the dust of the cemetery.

Rina's Struggle for Diari

Despite her weakness and broken body, Rina quickly crawled toward Diari. She held his cold face with her trembling hands and whispered: "Diari, stay with us, don't leave us. We have come so far." Rina spoke to Diari with tears, trying to make him feel better and return to himself. "Diari, wake up! We promised each other to stay together, to make trouble like the old days. Diari, please stand up!" Diari was lying on the ground, looking at Rina. Despite his weakness, he raised his hands and brushed them through Rina's hair, smiling at her as if to say, "We will be saved, I am with you, I love you." She began to rub her wounded hand against the purple chain, trying to give him the little warmth left in her. She didn't care about her own pain; her only goal was to see Diari breathe again. The white light she saw earlier became a little brighter, as if responding to her kindness.

The Awakening of the Demons

Just then, as Rina felt hope returning, the demons suddenly startled awake. Morgana stood up first, opening her snake-like eyes. Liva and her mother followed. Morgana stood up and gave a demonic smile, saying: "What is this? Are you still trying to live? Truly brainless! No one escapes from our hands. What is wrong with you, trying to save each other?" Liva laughed mockingly and said: "Look at them, mother! They are like strong birds in a cage. Should we end their misery now, or wait for the second day?" The atmosphere became heavy again as the demons prepared for a new day of torture.
