Chapter 10: Storm of the Mind and Peace of the Heart

A deep, dark struggle haunted Rina's mind late into the night. Lying in bed, her eyes were lost in the shadows of her thoughts, caught in a battle between law and emotion. She replayed her mother's words about trust, valuing them like pure gold. A terrifying thought crossed her mind: "What if I lose my mother? I can't survive without her." She loved her mother more than her own soul, fearing the day death might separate them, even though she knew it was in God's hands.

On one side, she saw the broken image of Liva in prison—shattered and transformed. On the other, she saw the grieving face of Mr. Diari. She realized that those who laugh the most often carry the heaviest burdens. Mr. Diari, who brought joy to everyone, was now a man of broken spirit. Rina questioned her purpose: "Am I just a lawyer bound by law, or should I be the person my mother taught me to be—kind and respectful?" Her mind felt like a storm on a dark sea, seeking a way to balance her professional dignity with her duty to heal broken hearts.

As dawn broke, Rina's mother was already awake, washing the courtyard. Her old neighbor, Aunt Roselle, appeared at the wall. They shared a long, sweet conversation. Roselle said, "Sister, your daughter Rina has become the pride of our neighborhood. Everyone talks about how intellectual and respectful she is. I love her like my own." Rina's mother smiled with hope. "I always tell her that beauty lies in character. Respect others so they respect you, and never lose trust. Rina is more than my daughter; she is the reward for all the pain we endured in the past." They talked about the old days when trust between neighbors was as essential as bread and water. Her mother emphasized that being loyal to others is vital, provided it has boundaries, and that neighbors should always be each other's support.

Rina kissed her mother's head and headed to the office. On her way, she saw an elderly man struggling with a heavy load, nearly falling. Rina's kindness shone again as she stepped in to help. The old man looked into her eyes and said, "My child, your face is full of mercy. Bless your mother for raising you this way." This felt like a surge of new strength for Rina. Despite being late, she realized that helping others outside the office was exactly the kind of respect her mother had described.

When she entered the office, a heavy, dark silence hung in the air. She found Mr. Diari sitting in a corner, isolated and devastated. Gone were the theatrical costumes and the water gun. Rina approached him gently. "What happened, Mr. Diari? Why are you so withdrawn?"

With a voice trembling with grief, he replied, "Rina, I don't know what to do. My heart is breaking. My mother is very ill; she is dying. I told her so much about you—I described you as an angel—and she wants to see you before she passes." Rina's heart ached for him, and she decided they must go immediately.

As they traveled, Mr. Diari spoke at length about his mother—how she raised him alone and her only wish was for him to become a good man. Rina listened silently, feeling the weight of the burden on his shoulders. When they arrived at a small, peaceful home filled with the scent of memories, Rina was shocked. "Oh! This is the same lady I helped and drove home in my car!" she exclaimed. With tearful eyes, Mr. Diari's mother said, "I knew you would come back one day. Kindness is never lost. You are a bright future for my son."

Meanwhile, Liva remained in the darkness of her cell, feeling the world was against her. She was the embodiment of how one can destroy their own trust by their own hands. She wondered, "Will Rina ever forgive me? Or must I live in this darkness forever?"

Conclusion:

Humanity is not just a word in books; it is a silent action that shines in the darkest moments. Rina understood that respect and trust do not just open the doors of a courtroom—they open the doors to broken hearts.
