The forest seemed unnaturally quiet as I walked, searching for the meteoroid. A picture of what the stone looked like had been sent to the class group Zane added me to that morning.
I tapped on the photo and studied the image on my phone screen. It showed the small side of a muddy-brown stone—ordinary at first glance, but according to Mr. Frost, far from it.
From the explanation he gave, the rock had formed during the lab explosion when different substances mixed together. Instead of producing one of the twin flux stones—either pink or green—it created a combination of both.
The good part was that this one was harmless, unlike the twin flux.
Still, I couldn't help but wonder—if it was harmless, why send us into the forest to retrieve it? It felt like a complete waste of time… unless there was something they weren't telling us.
