RAZE.
The walls of the cave would not stay quiet. They kept whispering, and I could swear I heard thousands of voices trapped inside them. The words were old and strange, a language I did not know, but I did not need anyone to explain it to me. I know what a cry sounds like. I know pain when I hear it.
Something terrible happened here many years ago. I could feel it in my chest like a weight pressing down on my lungs. I just did not know what it was.
"What do you think happened here, Raze?" Kael asked as he leaned against the wall.
"I have no idea. The dragons used to live here with some of the dragon shifters."
"The dragons are dead except for one. But what happened to the shifters?"
"I was never told about them. Maybe they left too," I said, though the words did not even convince me.
A cool breeze brushed over my skin as I leaned back. When I looked down into the hole beside us, darkness stared back at me. It was so deep that it felt alive. A cold shiver ran down my spine.
