Chapter 63 - Chapter 63 Mr Piggy

A breeze ruffles the branch of Douglas fir above, which shakes silent and slight under the inky sky, the last place you could expect astonishing things to happen.

Solar shares his experience without reading his book.

His book of life is not written on notebook, it is written on his mind.

Not knowing his story was told outside the forbidden forest;

not knowing he was famous in the magic world;

not knowing he would be the most respectful teacher at the Dark Church;

nor that he would save his students back to the right path.

His students meeting at reunion party were holding up their glasses and saying in hushed voices: To Mr Valois, the teacher who lit the dark path.

Nearly three years had passed since Solar Valois had walked out the forbidden forest, but the forbidden forest had hardly changed at all.

The moon rose from the same bubbling brook and casted its reflection in the surface;

it crept into the forbidden forest, which was almost exactly the same as it had been on the first night when Solar Valois had sneaked in this forbidden forest.

Only his experiences on his mind show how much time had passed.

Three years later,

there had been a lot of experiences of what he had been through at the Dark Church, but he was no longer a student.

He was taught what is dark art, and now he is teaching what is dark art, and what are the common problems faced by students.

He shares his experience with Lunar, speaking of unhealthy lifestyle.

Solar: Speaking of unhealthy lifestyle, the first thought comes up my mind is staying up late. It seems that we both have an unhealthy habit, don't we?

Staying up late is a kind of unhealthy habit, of course, Lunar couldn't deny that.

Lunar: We both are night persons, aren't we? Night persons are allowed to stay up late, aren't they? As night persons, we are allowed to stay up late.

Solar: We should remember the consequence of lack of sleep, shouldn't we?

Lunar: About four consequences that I am absolutely positive.

Firstly, for academic consequence, students without enough sleeping can't remember what was studied;

secondly, for mental consequence, it can increase stress, anxiety and irritability;

thirdly, for physical health consequence, it can weaken their immune systems;

fourthly, for safety consequence, it can cause drowsy driving.

Solar: Staying up late causes lack of sleep, and lack of sleep causes four consequences. You think staying up late doesn't matter, don't you?

Lunar: I don't think staying up late doesn't matter to the others, but just think it doesn't matter to night persons like us.

Let's talk about what is considered unhealthy lifestyle to students?

Solar: About five areas involved with unhealthy lifestyle that I am absolutely positive.

Firstly, they have poor dietary habits, which are skipping meals, high consumption of junk food and irregular eating patterns;

secondly, they have sleep deprivation and poor sleep hygiene, which are inconsistent sleep schedule, insufficient sleep and using screens before bed;

thirdly, they have physical inactivity and sedentary behavior, which are prolonged sitting and lack of exercise;

fourthly, they have chronic stress and poor mental health management, which are academic pressure, burnout, social stress and unmanaged anxiety;

fifthly, they have substance use as a coping mechanism, which are high caffeine intale and alcohol and other substances.

Lunar: Each unhealthy key area can cause different consequences.

Poor dietary habits alone can cause many consequences.

Skipping meal leads to low energy and poor concentration;

high consumption of junk food results in weight fluctuations, energy crashes, and brain fog;

irregular eating patterns disrupt metabolism and sleep.

Sleep deprivation alone can cause four consequences, that we have discussed before.

How many consequences are caused by unhealthy lifestyle?

We don't know.

But one thing is certain that there's nothing good to live an unhealthy lifestyle.

Solar: About five key areas involved with unhealthy lifestyle, we have relative solutiona.

Firstly, they are taught to reclaim their nutrition,

never skipping breakfast is the solution to skipping meals;

smart snacking is the solution to high consumption of junk food;

plan ahead is the solution to irregular eating patterns.

Lunar: Students are taught not to get involved with unhealthy lifestyle, but I wonder how many of them would listen to what was told?

Solar: All of them.

They would listen to what was told,

it is not because what was told is right, it is because what was experienced was bad.

Until they had experienced the consequences, they would listen to what was told.

Lunar: What kind of essay did you assign for students?

Solar: It's an essay about old habit involved with unhealthy lifestyle.

Ask yourself what was your old habit involved with unhealthy lifestyle? What was the consequence caused by old habit? How did you change your old habit?

Lunar: Tell me your students' works, please.

Solar: My old unhealthy habit was chronic sleep deprivation.

Due to early school start times, I was required to wake up before six o'clock, but I frequently went to bed after twelve o'clock.

Chronic sleep deprivation had caused me three consequences,

it made me forget what was studied, it got me in sickness, it brought me irritability.

To change, I advocated later school start times, and prioritized 7-8 hours of sleep.

Sleepy Beauty.

Lunar: Sleepy Beauty had an unhealthy habit of staying up late, didn't she?

Solar: Yes. Staying up late had caused her three consequences. If she was driving car, she would have experienced one more consequence called drowsy driving.

Lunar: The next, please.

Solar: My unhealthy habit was surviving on energy drink and coffee.

When I felt thirsty, I would drink a glass of energy drink or coffee instead of a glass of water. Energy drink and coffee overlord gave me anxiety and jitters.

My sleep was terrible, because both could keep me staying awake.

To change, I started to carry a bottle of water instead of a glass of energy drink or coffee. Drinking water allowed me to sleep through the night. Mr Piggy.

Lunar: Mr Piggy had an unhealthy habit of high consumption of junk food, didn't he?

Solar: Yes. Drinking energy drink or coffee couldn't replace drinking water. Or else it'd lead to chronic sleep deprivation.
