Chapter 82 - Crisis in the Flower Fields: Team Galactic · Charon?!

"Huh?!"

Peter spun around sharply.

Darting through the sea of flowers was a small, hedgehog-like Pokémon.

Its white body was wrapped in lush, fresh green grass, delicate pink flowers blooming on either side. Bright green eyes shimmered with vitality and warmth, brimming with life itself.

[Ding! Detected Mythical Pokémon 'Shaymin'. Limited-Time Quest Triggered: 'Shaymin and the Flower Fields'!]

[(Limited-Time) Shaymin and the Flower Fields]

Description:

In the flower sea of early autumn, the Gracidea flowers are about to bloom. Shaymin have begun arriving at the Flower Garden Fields to start a new year's migration. However, parts of the flower fields have been damaged. The cause appears to be related to the steel factory in the north.

Objective:

Help Shaymin restore the damaged flower fields and drive out the invaders within 3 days.

Rewards:

Shaymin's Gratitude, Master Points (various amounts)

…..

"A steel factory…?"

Peter narrowed his eyes and looked north.

Through the haze, tall smokestacks and scattered factory buildings loomed. The northern section of the flower fields clearly showed signs of contamination—flowers there looked dull, wilted, some even withered beyond saving.

Just then, a female voice rang out.

"Shaymin! Where did you go?!"

Peter turned to see a girl in a black Lolita-style dress running over. She scooped Shaymin into her arms, holding it tightly.

"Why did you suddenly run off? There's still a day or two before the flowers bloom—don't rush…"

"It probably sensed something wrong with the flower fields," Peter said calmly, pointing north.

"Huh?"

The girl froze, only now noticing Peter. "S-sorry…"

She gave a small bow and left with Shaymin in her arms.

Peter didn't think much of it—she probably just wasn't good with strangers.

He tossed a Poké Ball into the air.

"Dolliv, keep using Sunny Day, Grassy Terrain, and Sweet Scent! When you get tired, recover with Synthesis!"

"Dolli-no!"

Dolliv had already sensed the condition of the flower fields. It was more than willing to lend its strength.

Trainer and Pokémon advanced northward together.

Along the way, more and more wild Pokémon gathered.

There were Kricketune sowing seeds with rhythmic movements, Combee spreading pollen through the air, Bibarel carefully watering the flowers, and a large number of Grass-type Pokémon following Dolliv's lead—Budew, Roselia, Cherrim, Tangela, and many more—casting Grass-type moves in unison.

Peter soon noticed something unsettling.

Almost every wild Pokémon bore visible injuries.

His brows furrowed.

This was far more serious than it appeared.

"Mi~! Mi~! Mi~!"

As the group grew, three wild Shaymin joined them.

The oldest among them leapt high into the air first. Brilliant light erupted around its body as dense Grass-type energy rippled outward. Flowers across the field bloomed instantly in response.

Seed Flare — Shaymin's signature Grass-type special move.

Base Power: 120.

It absorbs harmful gases in the surrounding area, purifies them, and releases the energy outward, with a high chance to sharply lower the opponent's Special Defense.

So this… was the secret behind the blooming flowers.

With the elder Shaymin leading, the other two followed suit, casting Seed Flare as well. In moments, flowers across the field burst into bloom, the scenery growing even more breathtaking.

Soon, Peter and the Pokémon reached the edge of the flower fields.

And there—

Several Pokémon were devouring the flowers without restraint.

Golbat, Beautifly, Dustox, Croagunk, Stunky, and Glameow.

Exactly six species.

Exactly three squads.

Eighteen Pokémon in total.

The wild Pokémon in the field bristled with hostility upon seeing them—but none dared advance.

"So these are the culprits destroying the flower fields…" Peter muttered, eyes narrowing.

"Mi~!"

(Young one… can you help us drive these invaders away?)

The three Shaymin floated beside Peter.

They were clearly exhausted—restoring the flower fields had drained much of their strength.

Peter checked their levels.

The highest was only Level 31.

No wonder they couldn't stand against these attackers.

Just as Peter was about to act—

Another Shaymin suddenly burst out from the opposite side of the field.

"Shay—mi——!!"

A dazzling burst of light illuminated the entire area.

BOOM—!!

The explosion detonated right in the center of the invading Pokémon. Several were blown away instantly.

"Tap—tap—tap—"

Rapid footsteps followed.

From the direction of the steel factory, three Team Galactic grunts rushed over—followed by a nearly bald, white-haired old man in a lab coat.

"Brat, I advise you not to meddle in matters that don't concern you," the old man sneered, tossing out two Poké Balls.

"Croaa…"

"Skun…"

A blue and a purple Pokémon appeared.

[Toxicroak lv45 (Elite · Intermediate)]

[Skuntank lv47 (Elite · Advanced)]

Peter's expression instantly turned serious.

Because he recognized that man.

Charon—one of Galactic Team's four commanders, and a highly respected scientist within the organization.

He was the one responsible for researching and manufacturing the Red Chain, and for locating Spear Pillar atop Mount Coronet—preparing to summon the Spatial and Temporal Dragons.

In the games, the Red Chain was formed using the power of the Lake Guardians.

In the anime, however, it was created from fallen meteor fragments and controlled by the Lake Trio.

From the looks of it, Charon was likely using this steel factory to research the Red Chain's production process.

As Peter considered his options—

An orange blur streaked across the battlefield.

"Arcanine, use Extreme Speed!"

"ROAAAR!"

With flaxen fur whipping through the air, Arcanine seemed to vanish—reappearing instantly as it slammed into the two Elite Pokémon, forcefully breaking through their formation. It scooped the surrounded Shaymin onto its back and retreated just as fast.

In less than a breath, it was already out of range.

A speed worthy of its name.

[Arcanine lv43 (Elite · Low)]

Peter was stunned.

That level—and yet such terrifying speed.

Its Trainer was clearly no ordinary person.

He looked up.

The Lolita-dressed girl he'd met earlier was now lifting Shaymin down from Arcanine's back.

"Damn it!" Charon snarled. "What kind of riffraff keeps interfering?! All of you—attack!

Toxicroak, Poison Jab!

Skuntank, Gunk Shot!!"

Poison Jab — Poison-type physical move, Power 80, chance to poison.

Gunk Shot — Poison-type physical finisher, Power 120, chance to poison.

With a wave of his hand, the two Elite Pokémon lunged at Arcanine. The three grunts followed suit, commanding their eighteen Pokémon to attack.

"Everyone—please, stall them!" Peter shouted to the wild Pokémon.

He threw out his Poké Balls in rapid succession.

"Lopunny, Agility into Quick Attack, support Arcanine!

Dolliv, Leech Seed followed by Strength Sap—restrict them!

Indeedee, maximum-range Psychic Terrain, then Calm Mind on the spot!"

At the same time, the wild Pokémon surged forward.

Vine Whips, Razor Leafs, Seed Bombs—countless attacks clashed with the Team Galactic grunts' Pokémon, the battlefield erupting into chaos.

At the center of it all—

Arcanine dodged Poison Jab with its speed, but its front leg was grazed by Gunk Shot. Its movements immediately slowed, purple poison spreading.

Just as Toxicroak's glowing violet palm was about to strike—

"Lopi!"

At the critical moment, Lopunny kicked Toxicroak away in a single motion, landing beside Arcanine.

The two Pokémon stood shoulder to shoulder.

The battle for the flower fields…

had truly begun.
