Chapter 2 - journey to Kyoto

This chapter will take place the day before Iseeis date with yuma

6 years later, Roof of the Hyoudou household. 20XX

Azazel: So, how are you kid?

Indra: hm, fine I guess. You don't really seek me out unannounced, is there something wrong, Azazel?

The two had met shortly after his encounter with the stray devil. The fallen angel took keen interest in the boy and his unique abilities. While the usage of Chakra wasn't foreign to the fallens knowledge the mere fact a human could harness it was certainly a shocking discovery, the cherry on top? From what he gathered the boy possessed chakra in abundance, as though he was chakra himself.

But to say that was all that intrigued him would be a lie, not only could he use chakra but magic as well!, and while his magic reserves weren't as vast as his chakra he was no slouch in terms of magical potential, if he had to estimate he'd place the boys magical reserves at a high class devil, add the fact that he could seemingly master techniques with a glance he was beyond elated to personally show the boy the ropes.

Azazel: aw, come on kid, can't meet with my favorite red eyed protégé?

Indra: sigh Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't I the only one with "red eyes"?

Azazel: chuckles Well, you got a point there kid, seriously though, how've you been holding up? School and all going well?

Indra: So you could say..I've had sparce encounters with the devils there, though the knight and queen of the gremory heiress have had far more interactions with me than the rest. The queen, she's Baraqiel's daughter, right? You should tell him shes seemingly doing well for herself under gremorys care.

Azazel: Ah, right..troublesome situation that is. I'll make sure to tell him. Anyways, time for the question of the day! smirks how many lovely ladies have fallen head over heels for ya? Have any late night escapades without telling dear Uncle Azazel?

Indra: Get off my roof old man..

Azazel: Oh come on! A young man like you? In a school filled with women? You can't tell me you haven't been up to even a little mischief.

Indra: sigh I have no interest in the women there, dispite how they seemingly flock to me. We have other things to focus on my dear "Uncle"

Azazel: Ah the women there? So, am I right to assume you and the white dragon empress might one day become a thing? Coughs on a more serious note, I have something that may interest you.

Indra: And that is?

Azazel: You're well informed on the supernatural world by now, mainly the three biblical factions, although we're in Japan we're the Shinto do still hold power. We are going to Kyoto to solve some problems there. You'll be meeting with Yasaka, the nine tails. It's her territory, so I leave the rest to her, I simply decided to lend a hand, hopefully this brings us close to an alliance.

Indra: sigh It's not our issue yet you're getting involved?

Azazel: I want..peace Indra, true peace. For all these factions, all these people to put differences aside and work together, this? It's a step in the right direction, do it for me kid, alright?

Truth be told while he originally longed for the adventure and fun to come, he grown accustomed to this life, normalcy. Yet he knew it wouldn't last forever, still some part of him enjoyed the thrill in an unexplainable away, as though parts of his soul weren't this own.

He wondered if this was due to being reborn as Indra, yet he believed his soul, his mind was entirely his. He decided to have his existential crisis later and help the man he dispite all saw as family.

The two grew extremely close over the years, to the point Indra introduced him to his family as a mentor of sorts, the story they told was simple. Azazel took interest in him as a academic prodigy and planned to offer him a "position" at his company upon his graduation. Of course money was also involved. Yet overtime the Hyoudous came to see the man as family as well.

Indra: Alright, I'll get to it, you owe me though.

Azazel: Ah, don't worry! Dinners on old Uncle Azazel when you get back! Ruffles his hair maybe even take ya to a bar!

Indra: smiles you're an idiot, yets get this over with then.

The trip to Kyoto was uneventful to say the least, finding a way to explain why'd he be absent to his parents was probably the hardest thing he'd have to deal with this entire trip.

As time passed the arrived in Kyoto and made their way to Yasaka.

Yasaka: Greetings, Azazel I'm thankful you arrived on such short notice. glances I assume this is whom you told me so much about?

Azazel: chuckles Correct, this here is Indra, he'll be here to help with the situation going on, I figured it would be best to let you handle the explanation. Anyways, stay safe kid and try not to cause too much damage, well, Yasaka, duty calls but I assure you that you're in great hands.

With that, the governor general disembarks, leaving the two alone.

Yasaka: Well then, Azazel speaks of you in such high regards, to think a human could use chakra in such a way which you do..I am impressed, as are many others, you've certainly made a name yourself, though I never would've expected you to be so young.

Indra: bows Thank you, Lady Yasaka, it is a pleasure to meet you.

Yasaka: now now, no need to do all that dear, though it is appreciated, at least Azazel didn't rub off on you too much, the mans eyes never even met my face.

Indra: sigh The old crow won't learn his lesson it seems. I apologize on his behalf, if you don't mind, why exactly am I here?

Yasaka: Oh, yes, forgive me. Onto business it seems, lately there have been disturbing reports, too many to count as mere coincidence, and too many left dead in its wake to ignore for any longer. In truth this has been going on for many years but it was never this recurring, incidents every so often now happen regularly.

We believe something old has returned, once assumed to be legend. We have good reason to believe Yamata no Orochi has returned. The eight headed serpent once said to be slain by the God susasnoo, it seems otherwise. Either he survived or has cheated death. The latter..brings me worry, if he cheated death at the hands of a God then this does not bode well.

Indra: (Orochi..like Orochimaru in naruto? Didn't he also turn into an eight headed monster) I see, what leads do you have? And what exactly has been done?

Yasaka: At first it seemed like senseless slaughter, but upon further inspection it seems like he's captured multiple yokai and in a old hideout we found it seems like he's expermenting with senjustu and on yokai alike, what little notes remained spoke on recreating the abilities of a plethora of yokai.

More prominent ones spoke on the yuki onna, nekomata, kitsune like myself and even monkey yokai like sun wukong

Furthermore, we have found a handful of survivors, what disturbed me his how they spoke of a figure, a snake like God to them. Their ramblings went on as though hypnotized, it was near cult like how they venerated him. One went on about a new age for all yokai, where they reign supreme under their God, with senjustu being taken to new heights. I'll give you what files we did collect so you may go over them on your own.

Indra: So, he's somehow returned from the grave, built himself a cult and wishes to make himself a God? He'll just have to be put in the grave once again, I can handle your snake infestation just point me in the right direction.

Yasaka: Our latest lead is a cave. It's east of the city, a few miles past the valley you'll come across a mountain, the entrance to the cave isn't hard to miss. I do warn you, tread lightly, Azazel put great faith in you so I'll do the same, yet I don't wish for one to die so young.

Indra: I'll be fine, you needn't worry.

Yasaka: Regardless, I rather not leave you unprepared, I do have something for you, I will be to your benefit I hope. Are you familiar with katanas?

Indra: Decently, yes, although I typically don't carry one as I mostly rely on chakra.

Yasaka: smiles then my gift may be of use to you.

Yasaka pulls opens a box and within it is a katana, it's scabbard and handle white as snow

Yasaka: This katana may look simple, but it's far more durable and it'll allow you to channel your chakra through it in any means.

Indra: Thank you Yasaka bows I will be sure to use it well. I shouldn't take long, couple days at most. If anything gets out of hand I'll report back to you.

Indra departs to journeys toward the cave in search of Yamata no Orochi, sword in hand and mind focused on the task ahead.

2 hours later

Indra: hm, when she said a few miles it might have been an understatement. I should arrive shortly though

As the words left his mouth a chilling breeze rolled over him and his breath could be seen, the wilds howled as snow quicker blanketed the field which he stood in.

Within the quickly falling snow and violent winds a beautiful woman appeared, pitch black hair and pale skin with her hands folded.

Indra: (damn, I hate the cold..I'm pissed off already) and you are?

The woman before him stares into his eyes with a blank expression, slowly stepping forward and closing the distance, Indra quickly unsheathes his blade and takes a fighting stance. As she approached she introduces herself as Miyuki

Miyuki: Forgive me, but I can't allow you to continue on. You will not face lord orochi human.

Indra: And you intend to face me, alone? No disrespect but other than make an early winter I don't think you'll do much against me alone.

Miyuki: It is funny you'd say that human, through I am not alone. Lord Orochi has given me great strength and it is more than enough for you.

Within an instant multiple golems made of ice arise from the snow, near a hundred, all towering over Indra.

Indra: shit..me and my big mouth.

Indra jumps multiple feet back, and the golems charge towards him, the ground slightly shaking

Fire style: Fire ball justu!

The fire envelops the first few waves as the rest simply charge through when the fire ceases

Taking out his sword he rushes in, channeling chakra into his sword he coats wind around the blade slicing apart the golems one by one

As he slices a golem in half he's grabbed by one from behind and tossed into the air

Indra: (Alright, time to get rid of the rest) Fire style: Phoenix flower Justu!

As the blasts of fire strike the remaining targets he lands down and points his katana towards Miyuki

Indra: can you give up now? Or are you going to send more statues to fight me?

Miyuki: I have a question..you're human but use chakra in a manner I haven't seen. Lord Orochi would be pleased if you joined us, you're different from other humans, would you be so kind as to come into our family?

Indra: Yeah, no thanks. I have no interest in being some lab experiment or being indoctrinated into some snake mans weird cult.

Miyuki: tsk. There is no cult Lord Orochi is merely doing what he must! You wouldn't understand until you witnessed it first hand human.

Indra: hn, and what exactly makes you so willing to defend him.

Miyuki: Lord orochi saved me, my parents were murdered by devils and he took me in! Raised and trained me as though I was his own. He loves the yokai he'd never experiment on his own people.

Indra: sigh I'm looking for him because that's exactly what he's doing, killing whoever he pleases and expermenting on yokai for his own personal power. You're a yuki onna are you not? In his files he spoke of your people, from how it sounds he's using you too.

A deep scowl appears on her face, rage evident as she rushes forward, two fans of seemingly ice in hand.

Miyuki: you lie!

Indra: (Always the hard way it seems)

Miyuki closes in and slashes with her fans aiming straight for the neck and indra moves out the way.

She quickly adjusts herself rapidly slashing towards him in an attempt to cut him down but he filps out the way.

In her anger she weaves her fans and a violent gust of wind barrel towards him.

Earth style: Mud Wall!

As it makes contact parts of the wall are slashed apart, Indra quickly dashes to the right and weaves more handsigns

Water style: Water dragon Justu!

Waves of water appears and collide as they shape into a dragon, as it rises it comes crashing down into Miyuki sending her meters across the valley as she slams into a boulder. Indra lands infront of her, sword aimed at her neck.

Indra: I hope you see any attempt at fighting me is utterly pointless.

Miyuki: scowls I have nothing to say to you human!

Indra: Good, because maybe then you'd listen. This Orochi whom you follow isn't whatever he claims to be. He's been expermenting and abducting yokai for years. What his end goal is, I'm unsure but I'm here to put a stop to it.

The young lady doesn't say a word but her expression is one of pure hatred towards him.

Indra: I see you don't believe me, very well. Pulls out the files these documents contain information found at what is believe to be an old hideout of this. If you two are so close then tell me if you recognize this writing, he covered what I believed was the yuki onna extensively.

As she reads through the documents her eyes widen in horror, a mix of betrayal and anger as a single tear drops from her face.

Miyuki: this..it's his hand writing, there's no mistaking it. I- I can't believe this. Everything was a lie, he used us..he used me. The people he mentioned, among those were my parents and elder sister. He used them for his twisted experiments!

Indra: ...my condolences, but what shall you do now?

Miyuki: You claimed you intend to stop him, I want the same. I'll join you.

Indra: hm, if that's so we should be on our way. What exactly will be expected upon entering his little cave?

Miyuki: there's far more yokai inside, all loyal to him and ready to attack at a moment's notice, Although I was among the strongest...seeing as how easily you fended me off it shouldn't be an issue, additionally, not all the yokai are present, many are scattered around his bases. As for Orochi himself..

We'd have to get through them before ever reaching orochi. By then I suspect he'd be long gone.

Indra: if that's the case, then I figure you should handle the yokai while I deal with orochi.

Miyuki: It won't be as easy as you make it out to be, you're strong, no denying that but he is Yamata no Orochi, he fought the God susasnoo and lived.

Indra: you let me worry about that, just deal with the yokai present in the cave, the rest is up to me.
