In the late ours of evening,rain poured down heavily padding the roofs of the buildings as every house asleep covered with a blanket,all except one.
In the Alexander house,the lady of the house was beating her (5) five year old daughter for a crime no one knows who committed.

The cane landed on her back as she was held down by her two brothers who looked at her in pitty.

Zara cried in pain,her blue eyes filled with tears that poured endlessly.
"This will teach you a lesson not to steal from me again u useless thing"Mrs Alexander said.
Zara was released but she stayed on the floor in tears.
"Get up!"the woman snapped kicking her by the side and Zara cried out loudly landing her a stroke on the bumm.
The woman walked away going to her room leaving Zara on the kitchen floor in tears and pain.
"Zara", the boys muttered and helped her up but she had already passed out due to the pain.
They splashed water on her face and she coughed.
"Big brother"she muttered and they helped her sit up.
"Sorry little sis"the other said.
"What are you people doing?
They turned and looked at their other little sister,older than Zara standing at the door and they froze.
"I'm telling Mom"she said and rushed towards her parents room.
"U should go or you'll be punished because of me"Zara said tears rolling down her eyes but before any of them could say a word,they heard,
"What is going on here?!"
They turned to look at their mother who was holding a two canes joined together.
"Mom,we were-"
"Quiet!"she snapped. "Zach, Jack,get over here right this instant!"she said and the boys left Zara's side and went to their mother's side, glancing at Zara apologetically but they were powerless.
Mrs Alexander stared at Zara and the next minute she began dragging Zara out of the house and threw her into the rain, locked the door and kept the key.
"No one will open the door for her"she said and went back to sleep.
"Zara"Zach called out and rushed towards the window with Jack and they sighted her shivering lying under the rain.
The girl, Annie,stared at her with a smile,she has never liked Zara despite them being blood sisters because of her complexion.
Zara walked under the rain in tears,her body aching, throat dry,head pounding,she had no idea where she was going to but she knew she wasn't going back to that house anytime soon.
She walked and walked until she could walk no more and collapsed in the mud.

Zara slowly opened her eyes and came face to face with a German Shepherd,a big one.
"Aaaahhh!!"she screamed and tried to run only to fall off the bed.
"What's going on here?", the door opened and a lady in her late thirties walked in.
"Oh, you're up,how are you feeling dear?"she asked.
"I'm f-fine"Zara muttered,eyes still wide staring at the dog.
"Don't be afraid, he's harmless"the woman said going to Zara's side and crouched down to pick her up and placed her back on the bed while the dog left.
"Mum, is breakfast ready yet?"a girl came in who looked about Zara's age.
"Almost dear"the woman replied and patted Zara's head,"I'll be back" . With that she left the room.
Zara stared at the door,her wounds still hurting,she was wearing a big T-shirt and socks,her curly hair was a mess and it looked like a bird's nest.
She got down from the bed with some difficulty because it was high and went out of the room with slow footsteps.
She closed the door gently and made way down the stairs and looked around the living room.
It was neither classy or awful but moderate, everything was,the dinning area was at the side with wooden chairs around the big round table, the kitchen was also there. The living room had a couch and two recliners with flowery patterns,a small ceiling fan,a wooden table in the middle and a standing plasma TV.
She was still looking around when a young boy at the age of 16 walked in.
"Hey there"he said patting her head and walked up the stairs.
She continued walking till she got to the backyard where she saw a barn and a farm.
"Wow"she muttered and approached the fence looking at the animals.
"Shouldn't u be resting?"
A voice came,it was the same boy who walked in.
"I'm fine"she replied looking at him then focused her gaze on the animals.
"Wanna help me feed them?"
"No thanks, I'll watch"she replied
The boy smiled and picked her up placing her on his shoulder and began feeding the animals.
When they were done,they both went inside to wait for the others who had gone out and by evening, everyone were back home.
"Mom, who's this girl?"the woman's youngest daughter asked during dinner with Zara sitting with them.
"This is Zara and she'll be staying with us from now onwards"the woman replied.
"We found her on the road lying cold when we were coming home yesterday"the man said.
"Nice to meet you Zara, I'm Derick, you're new big brother"the boy from earlier said
"Welcome to your new home Zara, will you stay with us?"...
