Chapter 22 - The Elixir Hall

"Cultivation isn't about diligence alone! Without talent, no matter how hard you work for an entire lifetime, it's useless! I really don't understand why the founding ancestor took Master in as his last disciple," Xu feng complained.

"Xiaofeng, don't think that just because I'm cultivating, I can't hear you talking behind my back. Discussing elders within Lingguang Sect is a serious crime," Bai He said calmly.

Xu feng was startled.

Bai He could actually hear what he was saying.

When someone was fully focused and cultivating techniques, how could they possibly still hear others talking?

"Master, don't call me that name. And I've figured out why you haven't improved, you're not cultivating at all. You're just resting with your eyes closed," Xu feng said.

Bai He suddenly opened his eyes and grabbed Xu feng by the neck as he leaned closer. "Xiaofeng, you can say that I haven't improved, but you cannot slander my effort."

Xu feng did not dare resist and let Bai He restrain him. "Master, don't call me Xiaofeng anymore. It sounds awful."

"You'll get used to it if you hear it often enough! Do you admit your mistake now?"

"I admit it, I admit it!"

Bai He released his grip and Xu feng rubbed the spot where Bai He had grabbed him.

He looked weak and fragile, yet his strength was surprisingly great.

"This one also feels that his improvement is indeed a bit too slow. So tonight, I plan to make a trip to the Elixir Hall and take a few spirit pills back. Do you want to come with me?"

"I want to go, Master," Xu feng said without hesitation.

Bai He turned his gaze toward Ye Shiyuan. "Ye Shiyuan, do you want to come along?"

"Little Elder Bai, I won't be going. Tonight I still have matters to attend to and need to leave Baize Peak. I'll be back early tomorrow morning," Ye Shiyuan replied.

Bai He frowned slightly.

What business could Ye Shiyuan possibly have that required him to leave Baize Peak?

"Is it absolutely necessary?" Bai He asked.

"Yes, Little Elder Bai."

"Then go. Be careful on your own," Bai He said.

"Thank you, Little Elder Bai."

Bai He's expression grew somewhat heavy and he ignored Xu feng's incessant chattering.

However, for Xu Feng, upon hearing that he could go to Lingguang Sect's Elixir Hall, he was so happy that he could barely contain himself.

...

After finishing the evening meal, Bai He took his token and led Xu feng to the entrance of the Elixir Hall.

The disciples guarding the entrance naturally let the two of them in.

This place was very large and in the center stood a gigantic alchemy furnace, within which raging flames burned.

This fire was one that never extinguished and the pills being refined inside were known only to specialized alchemy masters.

The Elixir Hall was divided into three floors.

The lowest floor held ordinary pills.
