Chapter 180 - Chapter 180: Descent

Chapter 180: Descent

At this moment, the battlefield on the coastline had completely descended into chaos. Tens of thousands of dragons clashed in the sky and on the ground, dragon breaths intertwining into a sea of fire that dyed the entire beach crimson.

But the Undead Legion's numbers were simply too vast. Every few minutes, teleportation gates would tear open in the sky, and thousands of skeletons would pour out, submerging the battlefield like a tide. Even worse, the fallen dragon corpses were visibly transforming into bone dragons. These former compatriots now brandished their claws, lunging at their erstwhile kin.

"Damn it!" A Tier 5 blue dragon roared, unleashing lightning that shattered a dozen skeletal berserkers before him. But the next second, more skeletons surged from a teleportation gate, surrounding him completely. "Help—" The blue dragon's scream abruptly ceased; his wings were simultaneously severed by dozens of bone blades, and his massive body crashed to the ground.

Similar scenes were unfolding across the battlefield. The Dragonkin's front line was slowly collapsing. A dozen Tier 6 Elders desperately tried to maintain order, each fighting against several myriad-captain-level undead. But these undead simply couldn't be killed. Torn bodies would reassemble, and bones burned to ashes would regenerate from the void.

"This can't go on!" Ignatz roared, his scorching dragon breath engulfing three myriad-captains before him. But after the flames dissipated, the three skeletons merely swayed before standing upright again.

Basaka surveyed the battlefield, instantly making a judgment. "All Tier 6s, abandon these fodder!" His voice resonated in the minds of all the Elders. "The Five-Color Elders, follow me! The other Elders, continue to assist our Tier 4 and 5 kin!"

No sooner had he spoken than Basaka fiercely flapped his wings, flying towards the rear of the battlefield. Ignatz, Daelas, Vinodo, and Raijin, the four Five-Color Elders, immediately followed. Their target was clear. It was the skeleton standing at the prow of the ship, who had yet to make a move. Skele-Pride. If they could eliminate this commander, perhaps the tide of battle could still turn.

Skele-Pride seemed to have anticipated this. He looked up at the five dragons charging towards him, drawing his greatsword from the void. "They've arrived."

The next moment, the five dragons attacked simultaneously! Basaka was the first to charge in, his inky-black dragon claws tearing through the air, aiming directly for Skele-Pride's skull. Skele-Pride sidestepped, his greatsword slashing diagonally.

Clang!

Dragon claw and bone sword collided, erupting in a deafening metallic clash. Basaka was forced back several meters, but then, Ignatz's dragon breath roared in! Crimson flames completely engulfed Skele-Pride.

Just then, Daelas attacked from the other side, her extreme cold breath intertwining with the flames, forming a desperate realm of ice and fire. Vinodo and Raijin were not idle either; one released a toxic mist, the other summoned lightning, four elements instantly completely locking down Skele-Pride.

"Did it work?" Ignatz gasped, staring at the center of the explosion.

But the next second, a black sword light tore through all the elements. Skele-Pride emerged from the dust, without a single scratch on him. "Good coordination." He looked up, soulfire flickering in his eye sockets. "But not enough."

Before his voice faded, Skele-Pride's figure vanished from his spot. When he reappeared, he was already behind Raijin.

"Watch out!" Basaka roared, desperately charging forward, using his own body to block the lethal blow. The blade cut through Basaka's dragon scales, leaving a bone-deep wound. But Basaka gritted his teeth, enduring, and counter-attacked with a claw aimed at Skele-Pride's skull.

Skele-Pride took half a step back, sweeping his greatsword horizontally. Basaka was forced to retreat again.

"Sky! Take the battle to the sky!" Ignatz roared, being the first to shoot skyward. The other four Elders immediately understood, simultaneously spreading their dragon wings and flying towards higher altitudes. The sky was the Dragonkin's domain. There, their mobility and coordinated abilities would be maximized.

Skele-Pride looked at the five dragons flying towards the sky, without any hesitation. With a stomp of his foot, he transformed into a black streak of light, following closely behind.

High in the sky, the battle recommenced. The five dragons formed a perfect encirclement, trapping Skele-Pride in the center. At times, four dragons would cooperate, with one acting as the main attacker, and at others, two dragons would attack while three others created diversions, their coordination flawless. Ignatz's dragon breath blasted from the front; Skele-Pride was about to dodge when Daelas's ice spikes already struck from the side. He was forced to take the blow, but just as his body stabilized, Vinodo's toxic mist engulfed him. Raijin seized the opportunity to unleash lightning, countless bolts exploding within the toxic mist. Basaka, seeing his chance, swooped down from above, his dragon claws fiercely raking Skele-Pride's shoulder.

Crack—

The sound of shattering bone echoed. Skele-Pride was knocked backward by the claw, tumbling several times in the air.

"Good!" Ignatz roared with excitement.

But he quickly noticed that Skele-Pride's shattered shoulder was healing at a visible rate. "Damn it..." Ignatz's excitement vanished instantly.

Skele-Pride regained his balance, flexing his newly healed shoulder. "The coordination is indeed good." His tone remained calm. "But you have one fatal weakness."

No sooner had he spoken than Skele-Pride's figure vanished again. The five Elders immediately became more vigilant, their dragon wings vibrating simultaneously, preparing for the next attack. But Skele-Pride's target had been clear from the beginning.

He appeared behind Daelas, his greatsword raised high.

"No!" Basaka reacted instantly, desperately charging towards Daelas. But it was too late. Daelas's turning motion was a half-beat too slow; her reaction speed was the slowest among the five Elders. This half-beat mistake was precisely seized by Skele-Pride.

The greatsword slashed down diagonally.

Pffsch—

Daelas's left wing was severed at the root, blood gushing forth. She let out a piercing scream, her massive body losing balance, plummeting towards the ground.

"Daelas!" The other four Elders roared simultaneously.

But Skele-Pride gave them no time to react. His figure flickered again, this time targeting Vinodo. Basaka desperately tried to intercept, but Skele-Pride's speed was too great.

A flash of sword light.

Vinodo's abdomen was ripped open with a massive wound, his internal organs almost spilling out. Next was Raijin, his hind leg severed. Then Ignatz, half of his dragon horns shaved off. Finally, Basaka, his chest pierced, blood staining the entire sky.

In just a moment, all five Tier 6 Elders were gravely wounded. They fell from the sky one after another, crashing to the ground with dull thuds.

"Cough... cough..." Basaka struggled to stand, but his body had completely stopped obeying. He looked up at the figure slowly descending from the sky.

Why? They had been evenly matched just moments ago. There had been a glimmer of hope. Basaka's vision began to blur.

The surrounding Dragonkin warriors saw this scene, their morale instantly plummeting to rock bottom. Even their five strongest Elders had fallen. What else could they do?

Skele-Pride landed on the ground, slowly walking towards the fallen Elders. He raised his greatsword, preparing to deliver the final blow.

Just then.

BOOM!!!

A colossal figure descended from the sky, crashing directly into Skele-Pride with a furious impact! Skele-Pride looked up, the soulfire in his pupils flickering slightly. The next second, he was sent flying, his body smashing through a giant ship on the shore. Wood splinters flew, and the colossal ship collapsed with a thunderous roar.

All the dragons on the battlefield froze. They looked up at the figure hovering in mid-air. Crimson scales gleamed dazzlingly in the sunlight. Massive dragon wings were fully spread, obscuring half the sky.

The red dragon let out a long, defiant roar, its cry echoing across the entire battlefield.

"It's... it's Ignius!" A young blue dragon trembled as he called out the name. "Lord Ignius has returned!"

"We haven't lost yet!"

The previously despairing Dragonkin warriors' eyes rekindled with the flames of hope.

Ignius hovered in mid-air, looking down at the colossal ship he had shattered. From the broken wood, Skele-Pride slowly stood up. He brushed the dust from his body, looked up, and met Ignius's gaze.

"It's you."

"Somewhat interesting."

Ignius did not reply. He simply spread his dragon wings, twisted his body, and the mana within him began to surge wildly, channeled by his Draconic Dance.

On the ground, Basaka struggled to look up, seeing the familiar figure in the sky. A weak smile pulled at his lips.

"You finally returned."

"Ignius..."
