Tsugikuni Michikatsu was quite detestable.

By my calling him Tsugikuni and never using his given name, you could tell I disliked him.

Ask the reason—in my eyes, he resembled a second Muzan.

Similarly, he also greatly disliked me.

Because I was dull, stupid, had terrible comprehension, yet could still receive Yoriichi's dedicated teaching.

That day, Yoriichi went out for several days as usual, searching everywhere for demon traces.

When he returned, he came to visit Uta and Koe, mentioning that during this mission, he'd reunited with his brother after years apart.

When Yoriichi spoke of this, his expression was very self-reproaching. Because he'd arrived too late, his brother's subordinates had already been killed by a demon.

If he'd rushed over earlier, he could have saved more people.

Uta patted his shoulder, comforting him. "That's not your fault. Cheer up. So, is your brother alright?"

Yoriichi said, "Mm, my brother suffered some minor injuries. Nothing serious. I escorted him home. I know he's living well now."

According to Yoriichi, their father had passed away. The family business was inherited by his brother.

And his twin brother, born the same day, had also married and had children. Two adorable kids.

Uta listened happily, asking Yoriichi again, "Since we know such joyful news, shouldn't we also pay a visit?"

Yoriichi said somewhat hesitantly, "Now I'm a demon hunter. If I casually get close to my brother, perhaps I'll bring him trouble."

Uta also felt troubled hearing this. "That's true..."

They discussed for a while, finally deciding to have someone deliver a gift, but not personally visit to disturb them.

But not long after, Tsugikuni Michikatsu appeared alone at the Demon Slayer Corps.

He claimed he wanted to join the Corps, fighting those demons together.

As the eldest son of a samurai family, Tsugikuni Michikatsu's martial skills were quite good. His joining could push the Demon Slayer Corps' combat power up another huge chunk.

After considering for a while, Ubuyashiki accepted him.

After studying Breathing Styles for a period, he quickly advanced to Hashira rank.

Yoriichi felt very guilty about his brother joining the Demon Slayer Corps.

When visiting Uta, he mentioned his brother should have specifically joined the Corps to avenge his dead subordinates.

But Uta didn't immediately console him. Holding the rice-serving spoon, she froze for quite a while. Her delicate eyebrows furrowed, asking with considerable worry, "He left home. What about that sister-in-law and the children?"

Yoriichi was somewhat puzzled. He'd grown up almost entirely dependent on Uta, hadn't contacted outside society. Probably couldn't understand Uta's worry either.

I, freeloading on the side, picked up some food with chopsticks. After eating, kindly explained for him, "Without a reliable adult male to inherit the family business, relying only on women and young children, very hard to protect the family business."

I hadn't met Tsugikuni Michikatsu yet, but my impression of him was already very bad.

What avenging subordinates.

If he truly cared about loyal subordinates, shouldn't he stay home properly?

Without him as their lord to rely on, those old, weak, women, and children who'd lost their pillar—even if they received compensation, how could they possibly keep it?

And the wife and children he abandoned—with no proper status or justification—how were they supposed to guard his family business?

Did the Demon Slayer Corps really lack this one person?

Laughable.

Yoriichi listened thoughtfully. His usually calm face showed troubled and worried expressions.

"I'll talk with my brother," Yoriichi said.

What exactly they discussed, no one knew.

Anyway, Yoriichi couldn't persuade his brother to return.

This stubborn man insisted on staying in the Demon Slayer Corps. At most, before Yoriichi, he promised to occasionally return home to check.

Yoriichi had no other methods. Understandable too. The feet were on Tsugikuni Michikatsu. He just refused to go back.

Even if you knocked him unconscious and sent him home, when he woke, he could still run over himself.

Since he couldn't be persuaded back, hearing Yoriichi's wife and daughter lived at my place, he insisted on coming to see.

Meeting Tsugikuni Michikatsu was in my home's courtyard.

Seeing Yoriichi leading a stranger in, I was a bit suspicious.

Because I'd met all the current Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps. And Yoriichi wouldn't casually bring people to my place.

Then I saw that person's face clearly. Some resemblance to Yoriichi. I understood.

This was that troublesome brother of his!

Heard they were twins, but I felt Tsugikuni Michikatsu and Yoriichi weren't very similar. Even at certain times, looked worlds apart.

At first, I didn't notice where this difference lay. Later, suddenly realized—their biggest difference should be their eyes and demeanor.

Though Tsugikuni Michikatsu also didn't like talking like Yoriichi, his expression lacked Yoriichi's peaceful, calm feeling.

Instead, like a seemingly calm sea surface—the surging waves below unknown to all.

His gaze watching his younger brother also couldn't be called gentle. Instead carried a very strange anxiety.

Anxious about what?

Uta hadn't expected Yoriichi to bring Tsugikuni Michikatsu along. It happened to be evening. She dressed very plainly and casually, hadn't groomed herself.

Standing before Tsugikuni Michikatsu, Uta was somewhat awkward, but still politely greeted, "Greetings, elder brother."

Her calling Tsugikuni Michikatsu this, following Yoriichi, had no problem... but I noticed Tsugikuni Michikatsu imperceptibly frowned, coldly nodding once as response.

Yoriichi carried sleeping Koe out from the room. His face also showed a smile, joyfully sharing his treasure with his brother. "This is mine and Uta's child. A bit younger than your children."

But Tsugikuni Michikatsu was impatient with such trivial matters. After reluctantly exchanging a few words with Yoriichi, he said, "Yoriichi, don't waste time. Tonight is precisely when demons run rampant. You and I absolutely cannot slack off."

Yoriichi hesitated.

He rushed about outside executing missions every day. Being able to squeeze out one day each month to return and visit Uta and Koe was already quite good.

Now Tsugikuni Michikatsu actually wanted to call him away.

This man really knew how to pin big labels. I involuntarily widened my eyes, watching Yoriichi briefly consider, then hand Koe to Uta.

"Then I..."

"You're going on a mission. I'll go with you."

The two brothers looked together toward me walking out.

Tsugikuni Michikatsu warily sized me up. Yoriichi introduced for him, "Brother, this is that person the Master mentioned."

That's right. In the Demon Slayer Corps, I was on equal footing with Ubuyashiki. Even Hashira had to be respectful seeing me.

I slightly raised my chin, imitating those pompous old masters I'd seen in the city—Uta saw and secretly laughed—wishing I could walk over with a "recognizing no relatives" gait.

I haughtily ordered Yoriichi, "You rest at my home tonight. Return to headquarters tomorrow."

Yoriichi looked at me somewhat puzzled, as if not understanding why I showed such a strange expression.

But being able to stay and accompany Uta and Koe, he was obviously very happy.

Only Tsugikuni Michikatsu looked at me displeased. Even trying hard to conceal it, still conveyed a strong sense of disgust.

Laughable. Could I let him bully my people at my home?

Not wanting his own wife and children was one thing. Don't turn his brother into trash too, okay?

I paid no mind, continuing to order him, "Let's go. Where are we patrolling tonight?"
