Chapter 3 - Scripture III - Final Preparations

2 Days After Leon Took Sinen To The Hospital...

It's been about 2 days since I took Sinen to the hospital. Last I was told, she is basically fine, besides a few bruises and some blood loss from the stab wound, she would recover in about a week.

Although I do remember what she told me before I left:

"Dalaxy, you're attending Selvasta, right? I'll come see you during the entrance exams, until then."

Remembering her words...

"Wait... I still have to practice– FOR THE EXAMS?" I panic, running out of my room and down to the library. As I sprint through the doors into the library, I run into the librarian, Infia.

"Infia, Infia, INFIA!"

As she notices me, she gets up from behind the desk as I run up, panting, as she starts talking in an irritated voice, "Welcome, Prince Leon, assuming you never came to the library for the books you asked for last... month? I'm assuming you need them, now?" Infia rolls her eyes, considering this isn't my first time doing this

I, now panting heavily, walk towards the counter before weakly saying, "Yeah, sorry about that, Infia, I forgot to come over here to grab those books, and now the exams are tomorrow, so now I have another request..."

Infia smirks slightly, as if she already knew what I was going to ask about, "What exactly... or should I say, why?" She pulls out a large book, at least 3000 pages thick, maybe... more? "If you want me to use my magic to transfer the information in the book, I told you, I wouldn't."

'Infia, with every fibre in my moral body, I'm begging you, I need this, I'm NOT going to pass if you don't do this, I'm going to fail, die, perish, I will be the LAUGHING stock of the royal family, and this whole city if you don't do this.' I think to myself, realising I'm not going to have the easy way out.

"Best I'll do for you in this time frame would be to... give you this book here." Infia pulls out this smaller book, maybe 50 pages. "Lucky for you, I assumed this would happen, and—" she throws the book at my face as a let out a small "ow." "I decided to make you a smaller book that focuses solely on the questions that the written exam should have. Read this tonight, and as long as you remember what's in it, you should be fine when it comes to the test.

Walking away, I wave the book to Infia as a goodbye as I head to my room. "Thanks, Infia, rest assured, I, Leon Knidhear, will pass my exam!" As the door closes, I hear Infia go back to sorting books, laughing a little.

Later That Night, Leon's Room

"Alright, let's read through this book, should take me more than... 2 hours?" I say to myself, as I open the book

"Most of these first pages should be fairly basic information, but just for a recap..."

"Kyvina is the magic that saturates everyone in the world— yeah, fairly normal... then there's the stuff about Kyvantrina, don't really care too much about that, it's just the whole lot of historical stuff like a few years ago. I'll skim through most of this later, hopefully."

I changed my mind about reading the book, even though I probably should read it, most of it I already seem to know, so I head to bed and get ready for the entrance exams.

The Next Day, Monday, August 9th, 297 ASA

As I wake up, I go into my closet to grab my uniform, nothing too fancy, a simple black suit and pants for now, with a badge showing my year. I finish doing my morning tasks before I head downstairs to meet my father, as he said he wanted to give me something before I started my first day.

As I arrive in the throne room, my father stands in front of me, in this "kingly" robe as he called it, with the biggest grin on his face. "What do you want, Old man?" I ask him, sarcastically.

"Well, as you know, it's your entrance exams for Selvasta Academy, and as your father, I'd like to give my dearest son a... gift we may call it." He pulls out something covered In A Black Silk, as he takes it off, this sleek blade, with a decorated sheath in black and silver. and a handle and a... broken guard?

"Isn't this—" He cuts me off, finishing the sentence I hoped was true.

"Yes, it truly is your mother's iconic sword— man, I thought that would sound better, but she never gave it a name." He gets up from the throne, holding the sword in one hand, as he comes towards me. "Now, boy, I'll tell you this one, this sword has killed many, and for that, I warn you of one detail: this sword can imbue itself with its owner's innate attributes, and with your unique attributes, I don't know how it'll be, but-" He gives me a sentimental look, almost, sad. As he hands me the sword, he says, "I do know your mother spent days making sure this sword would be perfect for her child."

Now, holding this sword, one of my mother's, I take a second to breathe before turning around, trying to hide my tears. "T-Thanks... father, I'll make sure to use it well."

He grabs me by the shoulder, slightly hard, but not that hard. "I know you will." His tone instantly goes back to normal as he turns around, albeit slightly bittersweet. "Go on now! Leon Knidhear! My Son!"

I head outside to where I see people watching as the new batch of students get ready to take their exams. I follow behind them, as we walk, I see all kinds of people, richer nobles, some people from poorer regions outside of the capital, humans, demons, and demi-humans. People from all around the world came here for the sole purpose of attending the school, hundreds of us, maybe even a thousand. As we arrive at the gates of the school, the Headmaster of the school, one of the 7 Kyvstella Generals...Tenaha Musphilm stood on a balcony, her spear raised high, as students started cheering, looking in awe, she makes an announcement.

"Welcome, Students... To Selvasta Academy!"
