Chapter 53 - A Script That Wasn't Written

The last rays of sunlight filtered through the living room curtains, bathing everything in a golden tone that made the place feel more intimate.

On the TV, an urban romance series was reaching its climax. The protagonist, soaked in the rain, was declaring his eternal love to the woman in front of an airport, with violin music in the background that would have made a rock cry.

Even so, Jin wanted to change the channel with every fiber of his being.

If there was one thing he despised, it was watching romance series on TV. The plots were one cliche after another.

Garbage.

However...

He shifted his gaze from the TV to the person sitting next to him.

Nina had her legs tucked up on the sofa, bare feet peeking out from under a cushion she hugged against her chest. Her glasses reflected the light from the TV, and her blonde strands framed a profile that the light turned into something no romance series actress could ever match.

And with her scent filling his nose with a sweetness that suddenly made the series not seem so bad.

Yet he didn't realize he'd been staring at her for a while until Nina's eyes moved.

She didn't turn her head, but her pupils slid over, peeking at him from the corner of her eye, and when she discovered he was watching her, the blue of her irises trembled.

She turned her gaze back to the TV.

But Jin had caught her.

And she knew he'd caught her.

The blush started creeping up her neck.

"..."

As the seconds passed, on the TV, the violins kept weeping and the protagonist stood there soaked declaring things no one would ever actually say.

Nina peeked at him again from the corner of her eye... and found him still looking at her!

This time she turned her head.

"Wh-Why are you looking at me like that...?" She clutched the cushion against her chest. "Like you're going to... eat me..."

Her eyes watched him with a shy gleam that made her lashes tremble, and her lower lip, which she'd bitten without realizing, was slightly swollen.

"What? How could I possibly dare to eat my little sister?" Jin said with an innocent smile.

But those words only deepened the pink on Nina's cheeks.

"Th-Then stop looking at me like that...!" Grabbing his face, she turned it toward the TV. "Watch the show!"

"But the show isn't as pretty to look at as you."

"JUST WATCH THE SHOW!!"

Nina's voice cracked into a squeak that would have been funny if she weren't on the verge of spontaneous combustion. Quickly letting go of his face, she buried hers into the cushion, wanting to disappear.

'This is way too embarrassing...! How can he say stuff like that so casually?!'

Her heart was pounding against her ribs so hard she was sure he could hear it.

Smiling at her reaction, Jin obediently turned his gaze toward the TV.

The series continued.

Next to him, after a few seconds of calm, Nina slowly lowered the cushion and looked at him.

Jin was watching the TV attentively.

'Is he really... watching the series?'

She felt relieved, sighing for the first time in what felt like ten minutes, but the relief didn't last. Because behind the relief came something she didn't expect, something that squeezed her chest with an annoying force.

'I told him not to look... and he actually stopped looking?'

She bit the inside of her cheek.

'Just like that...? He didn't even push a little more?'

'Wait...'

She'd been the one who told him to watch the TV. And now she felt bad because he listened...?

'What's wrong with me...?'

Her eyes traced Jin's face...

'Idiot... you were supposed to insist...'

At that moment, something warm wrapped around her hand.

She looked down.

Jin's fingers had slid over to hers. His hand had crossed the space between them and taken her hand with a softness she barely felt, as if it had always been there.

!!!

Nina felt her heart in the wrong place. In her throat, maybe. Or in the hand Jin had just taken.

She wanted to pull her hand away, every part of her body was screaming at her to pull it back...

But she didn't.

Instead, her fingers moved on their own and slipped between Jin's, intertwining one by one until their two hands formed a warm knot.

Jin's palm was so much bigger compared to hers, it was firm, warm, and when his fingers gently closed around hers, a tingling ran through her entire body.

Neither of them said anything.

Neither of them looked at the other.

And now with a happy smile, Nina went on watching the TV.

On screen, the series plot continued.

The protagonist embraced the woman and kissed her passionately, causing the background music to swell as the camera circled them, capturing the kiss in a lingering shot.

After a long, passionate French kiss, the woman, panting and with her face flushed, pushed him by the chest.

"Jin-kun! We can't do this, this isn't right!"

'His name is Jin too?!'

The protagonist, after hearing the rejection, let a pained expression cross his features before hardening with determination. He took a step toward her and grabbed her arms firmly.

"Mai-chan, why?!"

"Because..." She squeezed her eyes shut. "Because... Because my older sister likes you too! I can't compete with her for you, baka!"

Nina's grip tightened even more, pressing her nails into Jin, letting him feel how her pulse was racing.

On screen, the protagonist got over the shock in two seconds and hugged the heroine as she tried to flee, wrapping his arms around her and trapping her against his chest.

"Mai-chan, don't go!"

"Wh-Why won't you let me go...?" Her voice broke, but her body betrayed her: instead of pushing him away, she curled up against his chest. "Don't you like my sister...?"

"Because I like you, and I also like Yui, and I want all three of us to be happy together!"

He hugged her tightly, the camera did a close up of his determined gaze and her stunned expression, and the ending theme started playing.

The credits rolled.

"..."

Silence fell over the living room and the only sounds were the ending theme melody and the breathing of the two of them, which had somehow synced up.

Feeling her sweaty palm and the subtle tremor running through her fingers, Jin's gaze stayed fixed on the credits, but it was obvious he wasn't reading a single name.

Sliding toward her subtly, he closed the distance between them until their legs touched, and with a naturalness that left no room for doubt, his left arm slid behind Nina and wrapped around her waist, resting his hand on the curve of her hip.

"Mm...?"

Only then did Nina snap out of her trance.

She looked down at that hand resting on her waist, fingers curved over her shirt, feeling its warmth...

She didn't push it away.

"Jin-kun...?"

"What did you think of that scene, little sis?"

Asking casually, Jin's fingers began moving carefully over her waist, brushing the edge of her ribs above and the elastic of her shorts below.

"Th-The scene from... from just now, um, I..." Nina's eyes darted all over the place, bouncing between the TV, the hand on her waist, and any spot in the room that wasn't Jin's face. "Well... it was fine, I guess... the acting was... it was decent..."

"Oh yeah? So what happened exactly? Seems like you weren't paying much attention."

"Of course I was paying attention!"

"Then what did the protagonist say at the end?"

"He said that... that he... he..."

"Looks like you forgot." Tilting his head, Jin smiled at her innocently. "How about we reenact it to refresh your memory? I'm an excellent actor, so try not to be too impressed."

'I-I just watched it! How could I forget?'

Nina was screaming inside, but when her eyes met Jin's, with that dark depth looking at her from so close, what came out of her mouth was something completely different from what she was thinking.

"How... how do you ac––"

Jin didn't let her finish.

His hand traveled from her waist to the back of Nina's neck in a single motion, burying his fingers in her hair, and pulled her in.

He sealed her lips.

And it wasn't a romance series kiss, not delicate, not cinematic.

His mouth claimed Nina's with an aggressiveness that made her part her lips out of pure reflex, and the instant they separated, his tongue invaded.

"Mmh~~♥️~!"

Despite her moan, he didn't stop. His tongue plunged deep, sweeping the inside of her mouth with an infuriating hunger that left no corner unexplored.

Nina had gone rigid for one second, she'd just taken too much voltage all at once, and the next she melted against him.

Every muscle that had tensed released at once, her back curved forward and her chest pressed flat against Jin's while her hands, which had flown to his shirt collar on instinct, went from pushing to grabbing, closing into fists on the fabric and pulling him in craving more.

Her lips were softer than Jin had imagined, and they tasted of strawberry: sweet, artificial, with a hint that dissolved under his tongue and mixed with the real taste of her mouth.

But what turned him on wasn't the flavor, it was the clumsiness. The way her tongue tried to match his rhythm without knowing how, with a shyness that revealed she had never, ever, in her entire life, been kissed like this.

She'd probably never been kissed at all.

And precisely that, how nervous, how clumsy, how new she was to all of this, lit something on fire that wasn't going to be easy to put out.

Tilting her head back with the hand gripping her nape, Jin tried to go deeper, while his other hand slowly climbed up Nina's back, ascending vertebra by vertebra beneath her shirt.

But she didn't resist. Her fingers gripped his shirt tighter, her shoulders trembled, and the sounds escaping her throat, drowned between their mouths, were moans she couldn't control.

"Mmh~♥️... mmmph~... ngh~♥️..."

The saliva overflowed. A glistening thread trickled from the corner of Nina's lips, running down her chin until it dripped onto her collarbone, and the wet sound of their tongues intertwining filled the living room with a clarity the series' violins could never have matched.

She could feel Nina's heartbeat through the breasts pressed flat against him: frantic beats, so fast they seemed like one continuous hum.

The hand on her back kept climbing, caressing her warm skin, feeling it prickle under his fingers, until it reached the edge of her bra.

His fingers grazed the clasp, and another shudder shook her body from end to end.

"Ngh~♥️...!"

And right at that moment...

"Dinner's almost ready~!"

From the kitchen, Yuna's voice cut through everything like a sword and Nina reacted as if she'd been struck by lightning.

Slipping out of Jin's arms, she landed on the other end of the sofa with her legs tucked up and her hands frantically tugging down her shirt, which had ridden up, revealing her abdomen and the edge of a white bra with little bows that she would have died before letting anyone see.

"Jin-kun, I-I, you..."

She couldn't speak.

Her fingers twisted against each other nonstop, and her eyes couldn't find anywhere to land.

Her lips were swollen and red, glistening with saliva that wasn't just hers, and a subtle mark where Jin had bitten her throbbed with a heat that reminded her of what had just happened.

Her expression was too much...

Those swollen lips, those wet eyes, those burning cheeks and those twisting hands... it was an image that was setting him on fire from the inside!

He couldn't resist.

Leaning forward, he caught her chin, and kissed her again.

This time, though, it was something brief, barely a brush that pressed his lips against hers for two seconds.

But those seconds were enough for Nina to stop breathing entirely and a tiny moan to escape through her nose.

Even though they kissed, Jin wasn't satisfied, and reluctantly he stood up.

Nina's gaze followed him with an expression that mixed joy, hope, and a nervousness that made her tremble.

Jin leaned down. His mouth brushed her ear, and his warm breath raised every hair on the back of her neck.

"Nina, I like you."

They were simple words, but with a weight that sank Nina's heart into her stomach and sent it back to her chest in a single beat.

And without waiting for an answer, he straightened up and walked toward the kitchen.

"Yuna, I'm here to help!"

"Huh?! You don't have to, Jin-chan! I can handle it on my own~!"
