Chapter 144 - Science God 145: Accelerator's Little Experiment

"Hey! Who're you? Kihara Gensei? Where's that Kihara Amata guy?"

Accelerator strolled down the street, in a foul mood. Instead of heading back, she was looking for some punks to vent on.

"He's dead!"

"What? Dead? Hahaha, that loudmouth was all talk, huh…"

"Accelerator, your observer has been reassigned to the Ninth Chapter Ember Institute."

"Oh~ Snatching people from the mighty Kihara Family? Sounds like this Ninth Chapter Ember has some serious backing! What, a new main institute set up by the Board? Does this mean the Kiharas aren't worth much anymore? Old man… don't end up like Amata, dying so easily. That'd be boring."

"No need for your concern, brat! By the way, the Absolute Ability Evolution Plan is on hold."

"What? I show up in person, do it once, and you pause it? I don't agree!"

Accelerator's objection wasn't about wanting to kill more Misaka Sisters or believing the plan could make her an Absolute Esper—Level 6.

Mainly, she figured that guy who saved Misaka 10001 would come for the others. Then, she'd get her revenge and crush him—break his parts herself!

Secondly, being summoned and dismissed so casually was humiliating.

"It's the higher-ups' call. Your opinion doesn't matter. That's it!"

Beep, beep, beep~

"Hah~"

Accelerator sneered. Kihara Amata's death didn't faze her.

From what she knew, Amata was a thorough scoundrel. Dead? Good riddance. Not worth a reaction.

Even her sneer felt like a waste.

Her phone pinged with a new address—the next observation post, or rather, the institute's location.

But she didn't care about that now. She was heading to the Absolute Ability experiment's base to stir up trouble. After such a loss of face, she needed to settle the score!

A twisted grin spread across her face. No need to rush—she walked slowly, no abilities used.

"Hey! You, girl! It's late—why aren't you home? What school are you from?"

A soft, cute voice called from a nearby intersection. Accelerator turned to see a pink-haired loli and four girls not much older.

Glancing around, she realized it was just them and her. Pointing at herself, she looked confused.

"That's right, you! It's this late, and you're not home? Breaking curfew? What school are you from? Your teacher will escort you back."

The pink-haired loli spoke up.

It was Tsukuyomi Komoe and the Scavenger squad.

After briefly studying the four's abilities and structures, Samuel had handed them to Komoe for proper education.

Komoe welcomed such problem students with open arms.

As for getting the teacher-hating Scavenger squad to obey without attacking her?

Simple: overwhelming authority and economic pressure!

No matter how tough Scavenger was, they still needed to live. Samuel used a bit of influence to bring them under his wing, cutting their funds. To get money, they had to earn it through Komoe's monthly evaluations.

No choice—life demanded they reform.

"You? A teacher?"

Accelerator's face twisted skeptically.

"Hey! That's rude! Don't look at your teacher like she's brain-damaged! See, I have credentials!"

Komoe flashed the ID hanging around her neck.

"Academy City's got tech to make people younger now?"

Accelerator's expression grew stranger, suddenly finding the city even darker.

Her gaze toward Komoe turned to pity.

"Hey! Stop looking at me like I'm some innocent lab rat! Ugh… You need serious discipline. I'll make you play with a Gremlin's egg! Grab her, Seike!"

Komoe couldn't let a student wander the streets at night. Her home was crowded, but this was a teacher's duty.

As Seike Taroumaru charged toward her, Accelerator recalled Samuel's move…

"It's called… Zawadaru!"

Highly compressed gas burst from behind Accelerator, propelling her toward Seike. Before Seike could react, Accelerator's hand pressed against her face.

Unceremoniously, one thought could turn Seike into a ragdoll of flesh.

Instead, she tested a calculated possibility. Vector Manipulation applied to every atom in Seike's body, halting them all—effectively pausing time.

Seike's pocket watch stopped ticking, her body frozen in place.

This wasn't advanced for an esper who could manipulate atoms, but it demanded immense computational power to avoid errors.

"Seike! Damn you…"

Saku Tatsumi's clothes dissolved into paper, reforming into rabbit-like armor.

"Wait—"

She charged headlong before the others could organize.

And so…

"Odd telekinetic ability."

The giant figure froze too.

"Hm… Had my fun. Later, trash!"

Accelerator smirked, compressed vectors behind her forming wing-like jets.

She shot into the sky like a rocket.

The moment her hands left them—

"Huh? Where's the enemy?"

"Seike, weird, where'd she go?"

With no ability to resist, their brain cells had paused too, leaving no memory.

"Are you all okay? You scared your teacher! I'm sorry… I won't let you take risks like that again…"

"It's fine, Komoe-sensei, you didn't know! That girl… next time, we'll teach her a lesson!"
