Chapter 9 - SURVIVAL 3: LEVEL 1 STAGE 1 – NEINUKO

"Are you being vigilant, or do you also have a weakness?"

Under the full moon and cold night, questions that were hard for her to answer continued to haunt her mind.

"But I also don't know my classmate very well. All I know is that we're in the same class and we're not that close. We don't talk much and barely know him. But what's more upsetting when he didn't even know himself," she shared.

Could it be that my classmate didn't even know himself or his name, either? We tend to know others who are not closely related to us, but not the ones we are the closest to.

"Hello. Um... can I join you?" the modest girl with a twin brother asked them. She brought some fruit and handed it to them one by one. She wears a white blouse, a green ribbon with stripes, a green skirt with stripes, and black shoes for her school uniform.

"Of course! The more the merrier!" the bubbly girl replied happily while biting the guava that the modest girl handed. Her joyful vibe gives off an unpleasant mood that they have right now.

"Pardon me. It looks like most of them have formed into groups already." And then she smiled at them. She's petite and cute.

"No problem. You can never be wrong choosing us to be your group!"

They were enveloped in fear and worry about what was happening to the boys, so the talkative and bubbly girl invited the two of them into the conversation. The three of them just kept on talking and laughing as if they were forgetting that it was not the time to rejoice, but somehow, this vibe made her feel at ease. She's glad to make friends with them. But she noticed something confusing.

"Ah, how did you know that he is your brother, the one you're always with when you can't even remember your name?" she asked the modest girl. It got her curious.

"Well, the truth is, I don't know if he's really my twin brother or not. We just noticed in each other that we're very similar. And we both feel like we have a twin sibling, so we just consider ourselves as brother and sister."

They don't remember anything significant as well. She was also relieved because she was not alone in this crazy situation. As the conversation continued, everyone was surprised when another boy who was out of breath ran towards them.

"Oh, what happened to your patrol?" her bubbly friend queried.

"G-Get out of here. The monster is chasing us!"

"What? So, it was real?" her bubbly friend was in disbelief, and so was she.

"Let's get out of here. Run!" the boy pushed them to run away.

"Wait, where are the others?" She's concerned..

"The leaders are planning something. They'll take care of it. We must ensure all of you are safe!"

"Come on!" her two new friends called her, so she immediately ran as well. They just ran and followed the guy.

It was dark with only the moon as their source of light. It was secluded and full of trees. After the race, they rested first. It looks like the monster couldn't catch up with them. She doesn't know what it looks like, but it's probably scary from the looks of the boy who dragged them to run.

"Are you serious? We're staying here all night?! I mean, there are bugs, and I'm starving!" complained the pretty girl with long light brown hair.

"Yeah, how about the others?" a girl with shoulder-length hair and bangs asked.

Her stomach was growling too. She only ate fruit a while ago, so that wasn't enough.

"Let's deal with this first. We have no choice. If you don't want the monster to swallow you, then shut up," the boy with spiky fern green hair answered in an ill manner. "Besides, this is the order of the leader; we have no choice."

"Then they're nothing but nuisance leaders." The pretty girl rolled her eyes. "I'm starving to death."

"Here!" her friend threw an unripe mango at her. "Let's eat."

The three of them ate the mangoes that had fallen under a mango tree. The other girls were also forced to eat fruit. She's seen some mango trees, coconut trees, guava trees, banana trees, and many more that she was no longer familiar with. They might be living in a tropical place, but they still lack the resources to have the food that they want. She's still glad that at least they have this. The three of them just talked again, and so did the others. The lone boy slept soundly. The investigation of the monster must be rough.

"Hahaha, yeah! It looks fun," The modest girl laughs modestly while the talkative one cracks some jokes.

They just kept talking while she remained silent because of the weight of her eyelids.

"What are we going to call each other if we don't know our names yet?"

"Hmm, you have a point. What if…"

She fell asleep completely. She did nothing much, but she fell asleep. She may not be physically worn out, but her mental state was draining her.

Where am I? Is this a school?

The happy faces of the people. There were students, teachers, and parents everywhere. She saw her classmates. They were laughing while she was confused. Someone pulled her hand. They went to a place filled with trees, plants, and flowers. He hugged her and said words that she didn't know what they meant.

"Wake up! The monster is chasing us!" Someone was shaking her shoulder.

"Huh?" She opened her eyes even though she didn't want to. She's still dreaming about something that she needs to finish.

"Let's go!" She stood up, and got pulled by the two.

"Hurry up!"

"Rawrrr!"

"What's going on?" she questioned the two as they ran, and they were still dragging her.

They were looking behind them, so she turned around.

"Ahhh!" she shrieked out in fear.
