Chapter 392 - Descend! Slifer the Sky Dragon!!!

Ryunosuke drew five new cards and flashed a disparaging smile, the kind worn only by legendary duelists.

"I summon King's Knight, and then I summon Queen's Knight in attack position!"

King's Knight, ATK 1600, Level 4.

Queen's Knight, ATK 1500, Level 4.

"Based on the effects of these two monsters, when the King and Queen are both on the field, I can special summon the five-star Jack's Knight from my deck."

Jack's Knight, ATK 1900, Level 5.

Ryunosuke offered a thin smile. "With this, I have gathered the tributes required to summon a God."

"Impossible!!!" Masuzu shrieked in shock, recoiling a step.

Ryunosuke held the Divine card in his hand high—the card that was none other than Slifer the Sky Dragon.

"That's right, this is exactly what you think it is!!!"

"I offer the King, the Queen, and the Knight—these three monsters—as tributes!"

"DIVINE SUMMON!!!"

"DESCEND!!!"

"SLIFER THE SKY DRAGON!!!!!"

The King, Queen, and Knight each unsheathed their swords, joining them together and pointing them toward the heavens until they transformed into three pillars of light that pierced through the clouds.

In the pitch-black sky, countless flashes of lightning converged, and the shadow of a colossal red dragon began to writhe slowly. The audience watching the match was left in awe by the virtual imagery; it was so realistic that the intricate details made the dragon appear truly alive as it soared through the heavens.

Accompanied by a strike of golden lightning, Slifer's head emerged from behind the clouds, revealing its massive visage as it slowly dived downward. Its target was clear: the dueling arena below.

Many spectators thought only of fleeing; they scattered while screaming for help. After all, seeing a dragon of that magnitude charging toward them was enough to terrify anyone. Even knowing it was merely a virtual projection, it was mentally difficult to process.

Only Ai, sitting in the spectator seats, remained calm. After all, this technology was created by her own company; it would be strange if she were afraid. Megumi also watched with a serene gaze. Even Chizuru felt nothing but wonder without a hint of panic, remaining seated. If her two "big sisters" weren't afraid, why should she be?

Slifer coiled above the arena. With its massive draconic body winding around the stage multiple times, it lowered its head and aimed it directly at Masuzu. Foul-smelling saliva dripped from its jaws; its gaping primary mouth and the smaller secondary mouth atop its head roared deafeningly at the girl! The roar generated a wind pressure equivalent to a Level 10 typhoon, as if it intended to swallow the opponent alive.

Facing such terrifying pressure, Masuzu was momentarily stunned, her gaze blank. Slifer's body was nearly a thousand meters long, with a head spanning 128 to 130 meters. Anyone would feel dread. Even if this was just a virtual image...

However, despite this being the first time Masuzu had faced the roar of a God, she actually showed an excited expression. Ryunosuke then began to explain the effect.

"The attack power of Slifer the Sky Dragon is determined by the number of cards in my hand multiplied by 1000."

"Since I have two cards in my hand, Slifer's ATK is 2000 points."

Slifer the Sky Dragon, ATK 2000, DEF 2000, Level 10.

Slifer kept its mouths wide open, intimidating Masuzu. Masuzu was initially a bit frightened, but she soon complained inwardly.

(That damn Akasaka Ryunosuke! I clearly shuffled his Slifer to the very bottom, yet he managed to reshuffle his deck so that the card rose to the top. What on earth is this?)

(Besides, how could he summon a God that quickly?)

(Bringing out the J-Q-K knight trio instantly is just mind-boggling. If he claims he's not cheating, I wouldn't believe it.)

In truth, Ryunosuke was not cheating at all; it was pure luck. Isn't a high degree of luck a requirement to be the King of Games? This was all par for the course for a master.

Despite her frustration, Masuzu had to face reality. She wasn't too worried because the opponent's attack was only 2000, while her XY-Dragon Cannon had 2200 ATK. She felt safe. However, Ryunosuke's next move made her hesitate.

"I set two cards face-down and end my turn."

Ryunosuke set all the cards in his hand, causing Slifer's ATK to drop to 0. Masuzu suspected Ryunosuke was baiting her, but she didn't dare to be reckless.

Masuzu's turn, "Draw!"

(He ruined my plans again with that reshuffle, and even the God that was supposed to be impossible to summon has appeared. I have to use another way.)

"I activate the spell card, Magical Mallet!"

"The effect of this card allows a player to return any number of cards from their hand to the deck to reshuffle and draw the same number of cards."

Masuzu also performed a shuffling action, but unlike Ryunosuke, she could manipulate the deck so that whatever card she desired would be at the very top. This was cheating—a truly unknightly way to play.

She drew the same number of cards, and every single one was a card she wanted. Even though her opponent was one of the Three Egyptian Gods, she was no longer daunted.

"I activate Pot of Greed, drawing two cards at no cost. Then I activate Graceful Charity, drawing three cards and discarding two to the graveyard. Finally, I activate Trade-In, discarding one Level 8 monster from my hand to draw two more cards."

(Note: The discarded card is a Level 8 dragon monster, which will be useful later.)

Masuzu finished her sequence of hand-replenishing moves. Even Ryunosuke was left agape seeing such a smooth combo.

"This..."

Ryunosuke didn't know what to say; this was too absurd. Was this incredible luck or what? How could she draw so many hand-boosting cards at once?

Masuzu didn't care about her opponent's shock; she had obtained everything she needed. Her God card was still sealed, and this was only the second turn; the seal would break on the following turn. She needed to think about how to deal with the opponent's Slifer.

Slifer's effect is to forcibly destroy all monsters with less than 2000 ATK summoned by the opponent (Lightning Blast). This meant she couldn't summon low-level monsters normally. Since they were currently using first-generation decks, there were no special summoning methods like Pendulum, Xyz, or Synchro.

To break the God's restriction, the only way was Fusion. Masuzu stared at the cards in her hand and flashed a meaningful smile. Through her previous card-drawing spree, she now held 8 cards. All three Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards were there, along with one Polymerization and one De-Fusion.

Summoning Blue-Eyes normally required two tributes, but through fusion, she didn't need them and could bypass Slifer's lightning effect. Moreover, the seal on her God would break next turn. At that time, she could use De-Fusion to split the Blue-Eyes and use them as tributes for Obelisk. With XY-Dragon Cannon already on the field and one more monster, she could trigger Obelisk's effect to wipe the opponent's entire field and deal 4000 damage—meaning a win in a single turn.

Masuzu immediately took action. But just to be safe, she set one face-down card as defense first, before activating the fusion.

"I activate Polymerization! I combine the three Blue-Eyes in my hand...!"
