Chapter 306 - The Headquarters Infiltrated

Facing Megumi's chilling statement, Ryunosuke felt his entire body break into a cold sweat.

"I wouldn't dare... I wouldn't dare mess with her."

He walked over to Ichika and Yagami, who were sprawled on the ground, and nudged them with his foot. They looked to be sleeping very peacefully, clearly not waking up anytime soon.

"E-eh, this is impressive. But by the way, is this mosaic blob in front of me actually a human or a ghost?" Fuka asked Ryunosuke.

Ryunosuke rolled his eyes almost to the heavens. "Of course she's human. Besides, she's my wife, so please show some respect."

Fuka hurriedly backed away, her face pale.

"Eh, so you don't even spare ghosts?!"

She clearly didn't believe him; after all, no human looked like a mosaic. Megumi drifted behind Fuka like a specter, expressionless and speaking in a low, whispery voice.

"Kiryuin-senpai, you are very impolite."

"Aaa! A ghost!" Fuka, so terrified that she immediately hugged Ryunosuke tightly like an octopus, refusing to let go even when pulled.

Megumi sighed. Never mind, she was used to it... For her, the fact that only Ryunosuke could truly notice and care for her was enough to make her completely satisfied.

Ayanokouji arrived last. That was natural, as Ryunosuke had reached out to both of them. In his hand, he was still holding the fish dish Ryunosuke had made, clearly having eaten while walking and not worried about his safety in the slightest.

Ryunosuke angrily slapped the bowl out of his friend's hand, sending it crashing to the ground.

"You really are my best friend!"

"I was almost killed by someone, and you had time to eat here?!"

Ayanokouji stared at the bowl lying on the ground with a slightly hollow gaze. He hadn't even finished eating yet...

Seeing that reaction, the vein on Ryunosuke's forehead pulsed, and his lips twitched in annoyance.

"If I die, you'll never be able to eat that for the rest of your life, do you understand?! Huh!"

He grabbed Ayanokouji by the collar and brought his face close with an expression of pure irritation.

Ayanokouji stated that Ryunosuke wouldn't be in any danger, because Megumi's movements were far faster than his own. Even if he arrived late, Ryunosuke wouldn't die. That was why he had walked over so leisurely.

Ryunosuke released his grip in resignation. "What is actually inside your head? You are truly not a normal human being."

He was too tired to blame him anymore. He planned to think about how to handle Ichika and Yagami, but when he glanced at the ground, both of them had disappeared. Ryunosuke checked the surroundings and realized they had already fled.

As it turned out, after being incapacitated by Megumi, Ichika and Yagami had quickly regained consciousness. Their physical quality was, after all, extraordinary. A normal person might have needed two or three hours to wake up, but they only needed a dozen minutes, maybe even less.

When they woke up and saw Ayanokouji arriving, they realized they couldn't win anymore. Coupled with the existence of Megumi, whose abilities made no sense, they were truly terrified.

Yagami gritted his teeth, his eyes full of reluctance and anger.

"Damn it! Who knew Class C still had a monster like that?"

"What was that thing earlier? I've never seen anything like it!"

In their eyes, Megumi was just a mass of pitch-black mosaic. A normal person would surely mistake her for a ghost, and for Yagami and Ichika, their spines were chilling with fear.

Ichika even said with a tremor: "Yagami, we should just leave this school and go back to the White Room. I don't want to stay here anymore..."

Her eyes were glassy; it was clear she was afraid of ghosts. No matter how great her martial arts skills were, she was still a girl. Besides, even a man would be terrified if he saw something like that.

Yagami hesitated. Should he give up this mission? Surpassing Ayanokouji was important, but the "depth of the water" in this school was too extreme—to the point where there were even ghosts...

On the other side, Ryunosuke asked Megumi about the results of her task.

Megumi expressionlessly produced two crystals, which turned out to be those of Class 1-C and 1-D. Ryunosuke's mission had been to steal the first-year crystals. Since the Class 1-A and 1-B crystals were being carried by Ichika and Yagami, she hadn't managed to get those yet.

Right now, Class 1-C and 1-D were in an uproar. They realized their crystals were gone. Just lost, right in front of their eyes. Megumi had simply walked in, taken them, and left without a single person noticing her presence.

The leader of Class 1-D, Nanase, was confused to death. She had clearly hidden her crystal inside her room; how could it be gone?

On the other hand, the leader of Class 1-C, Sakurako, wasn't much different. She had intended to trip up Ayanokouji, but now her own crystal was missing. Even though she carried it everywhere, it was truly like seeing a ghost. How could it vanish?

Sakurako and Riku immediately pointed their accusations at Ayanokouji. The only person who could infiltrate without being detected and steal their crystals was the masterpiece of the White Room.

Ayanokouji thought to himself: (This is true slander. I didn't do anything; why must I bear a burden this heavy?)

Sakurako slammed her fist onto the table in anger.

"Damn Ayanokouji! You're cunning, you're shameless! Don't think this matter is over; I will definitely take it back!!!"

Meanwhile, Ryunosuke felt very satisfied. Now they had three crystals, which meant an additional 300 class points. Added to the points for guarding the castle, the total came to 400 class points. If things went smoothly, they could rise straight to Class A this time. Sae would surely be extremely pleased.

Currently, the point difference between Class 2-A and the three classes below it was no more than 200 points. Meanwhile, the points for classes B, C, and D were very close, with a difference of less than 50 points. This was done intentionally by Ryunosuke to divert attention.

After all, the nail that sticks out gets hammered first. As long as there was a first place above them, the second place wouldn't be watched too closely because all eyes were on the number one. Ryunosuke felt bad about having to make his lover, Honami, the target of the pressure up front.

In Class 2-A, Honami was busy chatting with her best friend, Himeno, when she suddenly sneezed.

"Achoo!"

"Eh? Am I catching a flu?" Honami scratched her head in confusion, looking pure yet slightly naive.

Himeno set down her teacup and commented flatly.

"Maybe Ryunosuke is talking about your bad points?"

"Haha, how could that be? He wouldn't do that," Honami replied while waving her hand, trusting her man completely.

The two were officially dating. Although Ryunosuke used the excuse that they were both class leaders, he asked Honami not to spread news of their relationship carelessly. In reality, it was just Ryunosuke's tactic because he was afraid that Honami wouldn't be able to accept the multitude of love rivals and would turn "dark" like in the original story.

Because Honami didn't know anything about the other girls, while Himeno did, she felt responsible for keeping watch so that Honami wouldn't take the wrong path. Himeno felt very tired. She truly had to work hard to maintain the harmony of her man's "harem."

Next time, she would have to ask for extra compensation from Ryunosuke...
