Chapter 24 - ECHOES OF A LOST QUEEN

Across the sea, back in Osodia. The atmosphere in the meeting room was intense. Everyone was yelling at one another as they argued, "Enough!" A woman seated at the head of the table yelled. And just like that, the room stilled down. All are looking at the young lady. Her green eyes were glaring down on them. "What is the meaning of this? You are grown men and women, for goodness sake. Look at the lot of you. fighting each other instead of fighting together. Is this how you plan to be heard?" She yelled.

"Pam, calm down," the man who was seated next to her said. He had been silent through most of the meeting and had finally spoken. His looks were dashing, a perfect example of Prince Charming. Pamela sighed as she ruffled her long curly red hair. She took in a deep breath and let out the pent-up rage. "This isn't the time to be arguing on matters that are beyond our capabilities. We aren't sure if Robellia is alive or not. There are more pressing matters at hand. Mr Callson, we need an official audience with the Empire of Barathria. The meeting is adjourned. "

Pamela stood up, and so did everyone else. Pamela looked at William and sighed. William smiled at her, "I've got an idea to brighten your mood." Pamela followed William out of the meeting room. "It gets more tiring every fucking day. Can't they get along for once? I really wish Liya were here. She could charm an entire room with her presence." Pamela complained as she walked alongside William. William smiled, "Though it's been years, her face remains vividly clear at the back of my mind."

Pamela grinned, seeing an opportunity to tease him, "Oh my, how could I forget I'm talking to her number one fan, and don't deny it, Will. I saw the way you looked at her. You had the hugest crush on her, didn't you?" William looked at Pamela and sighed, then looked ahead. "Next time am leaving that meeting room alone." Pamela chuckled playfully, "Oh! Come on, Will. I'd probably commit murder and arson at the same time, if I went in there alone."

William smiled as he led her to the garden outside. "Nothing is as good as some fresh air. Pamela exclaimed, "This isn't the best part." William took her hand and pulled her into a willow tree, its leaves covering them like a curtain. Pamela's face lit up as she saw the cute little picnic mat and snacks laid out in front of her. "Ahh! Is this for me?" she asked in utter excitement.

"I don't think so." William playfully remarked. Pamela gave his arm a well-deserved punch and walked over to have a seat. William chuckled as he followed suit. Pamela looked around her with a smile, "You are the best, Will." William smiled, "Any luck with finding Liya?" Pamela shook her head, "The closest lead I have of her is Crown Prince Max." "But we can't be sure the girl he spoke of is Liya." William retorted, "I trust my guts, and I have a feeling it is her. The way he spoke of her. I am telling you, it's our liya. But he seemed to have fallen for her, so that's a good thing. Maybe we could use this to our advantage. All she has to do is summon me with that necklace."

William sighed, "I miss her. I wonder how much she had to go through." Pamela scooched over to Will and hugged him, "I miss her too. We all went through our own personal hells. I just hope hers was better. I still see her in my dreams. She looks beautiful as a grown woman. I think you'd fall for her all over again. I don't know how she did it. How she managed to transcend time like that."

"Are you sure it was her?" William asked, "I'm sure it was her that night. She saved my life. I can still remember her voice. Now run. Run to the carriage and don't you dare stop. ran, Pammy. She said and ran. I need to find her, I need to get her home. I looked into her eyes, and I saw the longing she had. She misses us as much as we miss her." Pamela could still hear the screams of the men Robellia had burnt down that night.

As she ran towards the carriage that night, she heard the screams of men. When she turned around, she could see the men who were after Robellia light up in flames. And for the first time, she saw them. She saw the ancestors. They were all around Robellia, chanting with her. She remembered Robellia's command and went on running. She boarded a carriage out of the few that were there. She could still hear the commotion outside the carriage. She peered by the carriage entrance and saw Roselyn carrying little Robellia as they boarded another carriage. She was ready to hop out of the carriage and go after them when her carriage began to move, and so did Robellia's carriage.

When the carriage stopped, she couldn't even recognize where she was. She got up and followed the rest of the women and their children. A nice old lady who used to be a neighbour back at the village saw her and began to take care of her. She got to know she was currently in the city of Autahan, known for having the largest witch camp in Osodia.

She spent most of her years there. She grew into one of the greatest witches in the camp and later led the elders to form the revolutionary movement. She spied on the Baratrian army, and with the rest of the witches, they helped the Barathrian army to victory. And now, with the former tyrannical king gone, they had a better chance of getting the long-awaited freedom they desired. But she knew she needed Robellia to fulfill that dream. She was their prophesied Queen. The one that would lead them to freedom. The witch with the power of the ancestors.
