The years had gone by and it was finally Maximus' 18th birthday. The king threw a grand ball. Robellia knew she couldn't meet him today as his schedule was tight. It was already night time when Robellia was seated outside by the pond as she enjoyed the mental breeze.
"The weather is lovely, today." Robellia smiled as she turned to max, who was coming towards her,"I thought weren't coming today." Maximus sat next to her, " And I thought you'd welcome me with a happy birthday Max." Robellia giggled as she hugged him,"Happy birthday Max. I got you a gift." Maximus hugged her back,"Really little bunny." Robellia broke the hug a showed him a parcel she had beside her. Maximus smiled as he accepted it,"May I open it now?"
Robellia nodded. Maximus opened the parcel and smiled,"May I ask what is this, little bunny?" Robellia took the bracelet and helped him put it on,"It's a lucky charm. A friend of mine helped me get it." "A friend?" Maximus looked surprised. Robellia nodded," She is very kind to me. Her name is Genevieve but I just call her Gene." Maximus smiled as he looked at his new favorite jewelry. "Well I like the gift but am kind of jealous am not your only friend." Robellia rolled her eyes "There you go again. You know you are my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without you. So no need for the jealousy." "Tell me more about this Genevieve girl."
Robellia gave him a questioning look. Maximus defendsd himself,"I just want to know her just to be sure. Who is going to take care of such a notorious little bunny when am not around?" Robellia frowned "What do you mean by that?" Maximus smiled," Am just saying, If I weren't around. Hypothetically." "Mhmmm. So, about Gene. She is awesome, she hit one of the maids because she kept belittling me. She was so cool. She isn't scared of anyone."
The two of the spoke for hours into the night by the time Robellia got to bed it was almost morning. "Where were you, Liya? Do you know how worried I was I couldn't sleep." Roselyn looked terribly worried. "Am fine mother. I just needed to be outdoors for a while." "Do you have any idea what time it is, young lady? This is not acceptable. I know you've been going out to meet someone these days but that ends today. Do you hear me, Liya?" Robellia wanted to say something but looked down and answered,"Yes, mother."
The following day was rather busy a lot of laundry was dropped by. Robellia hurriedly hung her share of laundry so she could go have lunch with Maximus by the pond. "Did you hear the gift his Highness gave to the crowned prince?" A few maids gossiped beside Robellia. "Am sure it was extravagant." Robellia sighed of course it would. What was she thinking when she gave him that freaking charm bracelet. "Oh! It was grand indeed. His Highness gave the order that Crowned prince Maximus was to join the war in Osodia as Lord General. He was given full authority over the entire army. Though it sounds amazing, it's quite dangerous for the young prince." Robellia stopped all she was doing. It couldn't be real, this wasn't happening. It must be a silly rumour amongst the maids nothing much. " Well he is a great swordsman and great at military tactics, maybe that's why the king decide to send him there. We should pray for the best. Hey, Robellia where are you going you haven't finished hanging your laundry."
Robellia ran towards the pond she couldn't wait and listen to such nonsense. She paced back and forth by the pond as she waited for maximus. When she spotted him she sighed of relief," Thank goodness." She hugged him. Maximus paused for a moment and hugged her back. " I was worried. Some maids were talking they said something about you going to the war and I just..... Sigh! It's not true Max. Is it?" She broke the hug to look at him. Maximus looked guilty," I wanted to tell you yesterday but I also wanted to make a few happy last memories." Robellia stepped back, tears at the corner of her eyes," that's not a funny joke, Max."
Maximus looked serious and the more he said nothing the more heartbroken Robellia felt by the second," You can't do this. You just can't. You can hurt. Worse you could die out there. Talk to the king Max. He'll listen to you. Please!" Tears drenched her face. " I can't do that little bunny." Maximus reached out to console her but she slapped his hand away," You can. It's just that you won't. I thought you were different I thought you weren't like everyone else in my life. They all left me. They abandoned me. They went to a better place, that's what they call it. And you.... It was wrong of me to trust you."
Maximus sighed as he tried to reach her again,"little bunny." Robellia moved away and sat on the ground hugging her knees as she cried,"Go! Just go." Maximus sat next to her and hugged her. He gently patted her back as she cried into his arms. "Am sorry. I didn't want to hurt you like this and am not abandoning you. I would never do that. I am the crowned prince, little bunny. I have responsibilities to my people. I have no choice." Robellia just went on crying. Maximus managed to calm her down eventually. He smiled as he looked down at her. She was fast asleep. He took his handkerchief from her pocket and placed a new one with her favorite snacks.
