Chapter 366 - Chapter 3: Tracking the Serial Killer

"I know the process of the original Fourth War. We'll discuss the specific details once we find a place to stay. For now, I'll talk about what we need to do immediately."

"In this Holy Grail War, a serial killer mistakenly got involved and summoned Caster. The two of them caused great chaos and killed many people. The Holy Grail War hasn't started yet, so we're going to hunt down that serial killer now and seize the Caster summoning slot. Any problems?"

Takatsuki already had an idea after knowing this was the Fourth War and the special nature of Durandal as a Servant.

Durandal was quite special; she was directly summoned by her main body, which was why she was wearing pajamas. Because of this, she couldn't spiritualize. Rather than a Servant, she was more like someone who had crossed worlds, just like Takatsuki.

And if Takatsuki died, Durandal would be sent back to her original world. Takatsuki knew this, but Durandal didn't.

Furthermore, the energy sustaining Durandal's existence here was provided by Takatsuki and the system, not the Holy Grail, which gave Takatsuki some subtle ideas.

That is...

Could he summon another Servant?

After all, Durandal wasn't a Servant under the Holy Grail system.

If he couldn't, then could Durandal?

After all... although not under the Holy Grail system, Takatsuki still had three Command Spells.

"If that person is truly the serial killer you speak of, I have no problem."

"Alright, let's get moving then. First, let's find a newsstand. I remember his news should be quite big."

Takatsuki led Durandal, who was wearing his jacket, out of the forest. Fuyuki City currently had quite a few such forests. He just didn't know which forest this was—the one near the Einzbern Castle, or Mount Enzou, or some other unknown place.

Although Takatsuki wasn't sure of the current Holy Grail War's timing, even if Ryuunosuke Uryuu had already summoned Caster, they could just make them exit early. It wouldn't be a loss to eliminate one guy ahead of time.

"Wait for me here; I'll get a newspaper."

Walking onto the street, judging by the sun's position, it was probably around three in the afternoon in this world.

Takatsuki looked at the newsstand by the roadside and said to Durandal.

Then Durandal saw Takatsuki disappear. Her keen senses quickly noticed a newspaper floating up inside the newsstand, then vanishing.

"Invisibility?"

Durandal made a judgment watching this scene. After Takatsuki returned, she immediately asked, "Were you invisible just now?"

"That's right, it's one of my abilities. Look at this newspaper; it just so happens to have a record. The serial killer of Fuyuki City seems to have just started, which means they haven't completed the ritual yet. If we go now, we might even be able to prevent a murder in advance."

Takatsuki quickly found the information he wanted in the newspaper, but Durandal's mind was elsewhere.

"You shouldn't steal things."

"?"

Takatsuki looked at the newspaper in his hand before realizing what Durandal was talking about.

"Sorry, sorry, I didn't have any money, suddenly came here, and I'm just borrowing it to look. I'll return it to him later."

But Durandal didn't accept this: "Although a newspaper isn't worth much, the act itself is wrong."

"Uh... then what do you want me to do?"

Takatsuki knew Durandal was very upright and rigid, but this was too exaggerated.

"Give money to that old man."

Durandal was referring to the old man inside the newsstand, who hadn't even noticed Takatsuki stealing a newspaper.

"But I don't have any money... Sigh, never mind. Since it's your request, I'll get something to compensate him, alright?"

Takatsuki was about to retort, but remembered that they had just started cooperating. It would be unwise to conflict over such a small matter. How much was a newspaper worth anyway?

"Wait a moment, I'll see if I have anything to give him."

What could he give? Naturally, nothing.

Such mundane items Takatsuki usually stuffed into his Gate of Babylon. His backpack contained S-rank items and some very important things, such as Sirin's memories.

So, there was only one thing he could do: draw it on the spot.

Takatsuki opened the system in his mind and immediately started drawing.

Drawing items always yielded some strange things, including food, weapons, potions, and some gold and jewelry.

When he first arrived in Nagazora, Takatsuki had lived off those gold and jewelry.

After the first ten-pull, Takatsuki obtained some gold ornaments, but his obsessive-compulsive disorder made him click seven more times in a row until he pulled a golden light before stopping.

Eighty pulls for one...

Looking at the name of the golden item that appeared, Takatsuki silently looked at Durandal.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing, I found it. Using this gold to pay that old man, is that okay?"

Takatsuki said nothing, merely taking out a golden leaf.

A B-rank item, a golden leaf, utterly useless except for exchanging for money. Takatsuki only took out one piece.

With Durandal's consent, Takatsuki once again became invisible, placed the golden leaf into the old man's money box, and slipped away.

Fortunately, Durandal was a simpleton and wouldn't consider the problem of a common man being innocent but his wealth making him guilty. Takatsuki was also too lazy to explain, thus eliminating this potential conflict invisibly.

"Next, we'll go find this guy. Follow me; I have a way to find him."

The method Takatsuki spoke of was simple: using the system's tracking function. Although the equipment and character card slots were disabled, other functions were still active.

The only drawback of the tracking function was...

It only provided a real-time changing direction, and it didn't care what was in that direction. For example, right now, in front of Takatsuki was a tall building.

He didn't know if the target was inside the building or further away.

"Durandal, can you fly? I can pinpoint the general direction of the target, so a straight line would be more convenient."

Of course, Durandal shook her head. Without a Valkyrie battlesuit, no one can fly except for a Herrscher.

"Then, I'll carry you? I can fly."

Durandal stared at Takatsuki for a moment, then tightened her clothes. Although she didn't have the curvaceous figure she would years later, she was already quite well-developed.

"No need. You can fly in the sky, and I'll run below. I can keep up."

"Are you sure? If I fly, I'll definitely need to be invisible, otherwise it wouldn't be good to be seen."

Hearing Takatsuki's words, Durandal's fingers stiffened for a moment, but she still stubbornly said, "Don't worry, I can feel the connection between us, what you call magic."

"Alright, if you insist, then let's go."
