Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 Preparing for Confrontation

Mike gave a detailed account of what happened, highlighting two main points: first, the other party intentionally bullied him, a newcomer; second, the other party made the first move, and he was merely retaliating.

In short, Mike had planned beforehand to minimize his own responsibility.

The surrounding team members all knew Sam's character, and they largely accepted Mike's self-defense.

Georgie, who was standing nearby, had witnessed the entire incident.

Although he felt Mike's counterattack was a bit excessive, he ultimately stepped forward and offered to be Mike's witness.

At this time, the cheerleaders also heard about what happened on the field.

After they learned that Mike had sent that big oaf Sam to the hospital, their gazes towards him changed.

Being so handsome and also able to fight meant a full sense of security.

Regina saw the little bitches around her looking at Mike as if they wanted to devour him, and an inexplicable irritation welled up in her heart.

This 'prey' Mike was clearly about to slip from her grasp.

Over there, Coach George nodded slightly, seeing Mike's clever answer, and said, "Alright, you'd better think about how to deal with the principal. This matter is probably not over yet..."

After subtly giving Mike a few more pointers and seeing that it was almost time, Coach George told everyone not to discuss the matter further and officially announced the end of today's training.

Mike dealt with a few team members who came to cozy up to him, then pulled Georgie and said, "Come on, accompany me to the infirmary."

Seeing Mike's calm expression, Georgie couldn't fathom his thoughts and exclaimed, "Sam has already been sent to the hospital by you, and you're still not going to let him off? You're a monster!"

"What are you talking about? Do I look like that kind of villain?" Mike helplessly patted Georgie's shoulder and explained, "I'm going to get an injury assessment so I can explain it to the school leaders later."

After speaking, Mike lifted his team uniform, revealing large bruises on his ribs and waist.

"Hiss~" Seeing such severe bruises, Georgie glanced again at Mike, who seemed perfectly fine, and admired, "You... you're really tough!"

Mike said indifferently, "This is nothing; Sam is more seriously injured than I am."

With the 'Demon Body' characteristic, Mike's minor injuries were truly nothing. If he ate well when he got back, he might even recover on his own.

Accompanied by Georgie, when Mike arrived at the infirmary, he didn't see Sam, and even the infirmary teacher was preparing to leave for the day.

Seeing the football uniforms Mike and Georgie were wearing, the infirmary teacher asked, "What can I do for you two? Your injured teammate was already sent to the town hospital."

The infirmary teacher, seeing the clothes Mike and Georgie were wearing, clearly misunderstood, thinking they were Sam's friends.

"We're not here to visit the injured; we're here for an injury assessment," Mike explained.

After speaking, he again lifted his team uniform.

The infirmary teacher still vividly remembered Sam's injuries from earlier, and now seeing another football player injured, he sighed, "Football is too dangerous!"

Then, the infirmary teacher simply examined Mike and said with a smile, "Student, this looks serious, but it's actually just superficial injuries. You'll be fine after a few days of rest."

Compared to the previous football player who was injured in a 'critical' area, Mike's bruises indeed could only be considered minor injuries.

Upon hearing this, Mike extended his arm and said, "Teacher, my arm might be fractured, I need you to take a good look at it."

Seeing Mike's previous behavior, which didn't look like a fractured arm, the infirmary teacher frowned and took out a small hammer.

Next, no matter where the teacher tapped on his arm, Mike insisted it hurt.

After several repetitions, the infirmary teacher's frown smoothed out, and he looked at Mike with a strange gaze.

"Do you have a conflict with the previously injured football player?" the infirmary teacher asked.

Seeing that the infirmary teacher had guessed the answer, Mike had no intention of hiding it. He generously said, "That senior, Sam, wanted to teach me, a newcomer to the team, a lesson. Because of differing philosophies, we did have some minor friction."

The infirmary teacher was a little surprised by Mike's honesty.

However, relatively speaking, the handsome Mike indeed made a better impression.

At this time, Georgie also fanned the flames, talking about Sam's usual misdeeds.

Meanwhile, Mike also took the opportunity to ask about Sam's injuries.

According to the infirmary teacher, Sam's injuries were not very serious either; he would be fine after getting his knocked-out teeth replaced after a while.

"Teacher, does my arm need a cast?" Mike asked suggestively after learning about Sam's injuries.

The infirmary teacher, of course, saw through his intention. He shook his head: "I'll write you an injury report shortly. As for the injury on your arm, a sling should be enough."

Mike expressed his gratitude for the infirmary teacher's understanding.

Finally, Mike, with an exaggerated bandage hanging from his neck and an injury report in his hand, left the school infirmary satisfied.

Upon returning home, Connie, seeing Mike's exaggerated appearance, excitedly asked for the reason.

Mike did not hide anything this time and told her about what happened with Sam during the day.

Connie, as Mike's temporary guardian, immediately declared that she would go find Sam to demand justice.

To appease the agitated Connie, Mike had no choice but to tell her the 'truth' and his plans.

Finally, he even removed the bandage and moved his arm a few times to show that he was truly fine.

"You little rascal~" Knowing that Mike hadn't suffered, Connie playfully scolded him and said that even at school, she would stand up for Mike.

That night, Mike and Connie did not go to Sheldon's house for dinner again.

In the dining room, to show his apology, Mike personally cooked several special stir-fries.

The meal ended with Connie's praises.

Before going to bed, Mike also received a call from Dennis.

He had already returned to St. Paul and called to let Mike know he was safe. He also asked if Mike was adjusting to the new environment.

Mike naturally said that everything was fine there and that Connie and Sheldon's family were very good to him.

After reassuring Dennis, Mike finally wished Aunt Kelly (Dennis's wife) well over the phone before hanging up.

For the next two days, Mike played his role to the fullest, using his 'injury' as an excuse to skip team practices.

And the conflict between Mike and Sam on the football field was not suppressed, despite Coach George's warning.

In fact, because of Sam's past misdeeds at school, those students who had been bullied by him had come to regard Mike as a hero after learning that Sam had been sent to the hospital.

Even the bandage hanging from Mike's neck was seen as his medal.

Many female students who were unaware of the full situation also gathered around him again under the guise of caring for Mike.

"Mike, the class has already formed a support group for you. If the school or Sam causes you trouble, we will find a way to help you..." During self-study, Lina, a beautiful girl from the same class, came to Mike's side and whispered.

Previously, these female classmates had not bothered Mike for a while due to their fear of Regina's influence.

Now, because of the assault incident, Mike had clearly become a popular figure at school.

As Mike's popularity at school increased, his female admirers were no longer so afraid of Regina.

At the same time, in the principal's office, Principal Tom had also called all of Mike's subject teachers together to ask them about Mike's performance in class.
