Chapter 5 - First Home

After finishing the bricks in a few clicks, Xin started to work on the wood again.

This time it was much slower, mainly because design and calculation took up the most time.

Because Xin needs to use the mortise and tenon structure passed down from his ancestors.

Xin also knows this technique.

But he only learned a little bit from my neighbor's carpenter uncle in my hometown, and he is not very proficient in it.

More skills were learned by himself later by reading books.

It only stays on paper and has not been practiced.

After all, Xin had some foundation and strong hands-on ability.

Leave room for modification, practice it, and you will soon find the trick.

Lay the foundation, erect the pillars, lay the foundation bricks, build the frame, leave the doors and windows, the stove and the smoke vent, and put up the wall panels.

Xin made double-layer wall panels with some hay filled in the middle to achieve better insulation and waterproofing effects.

Then there's the crossbar.

In the original work, Hiraku was so embarrassed by this step that he could only build a low house

But this is not difficult for Xin.

He had prepared a scaffolding and used hooks to successfully build the beam, then there are the tiles on the roof.

This Xin directly used wood to plan it into strips, long tiles with a semi-circular arc like half bamboo.

Lay one row at the bottom with the opening facing up, lay another row at the joint with the opening facing down, lay out the middle top on both sides, then cover it with the larger one and fix it.

In this way, a large house of 100 square meters with a height of 2.3~4 meters and 10 meters by 10 meters is basically completed.

Finally, there is the stove, the kang, and the floor.

The stove is easy to use.

Xin made a double-layered double-port stove that was common in rural areas in the past. There are two stoves. The upper layer bums fire, and the fire ash will fall to the lower layer through the gap in the middle layer.

In this design, because the upper and lower floors are ventilated, the fire will burn vigorously, and you don't need to spend too much effort to control the fire when using it.

As for the fire pit, Xin built a very large fire pit, which stretched out two meters and three meters from the root of the wall, was seven meters wide and seventy centimeters high.

It's a bit like Datong house, where people can sleep in a row.

Of course, this isn't just for sleeping, Xin was thinking about getting a low table in the winter and doing all his daily activities on it, so he would have to stretch out a lot

These two planes are like the two-point-three-by-seven kang surface, the countertop of the stove, and the middle partition.

Xin knocked them out directly with clay, without spending much thought or effort.

Between the bricks, they are filled with soil and then hammered down.

It ensures that the seal leaves no gaps and is very strong.

As for the floor, Xin first laid a layer of mud, and then hammered it firmly to get a floor that was as strong as mud and water.

Just a few more strokes with the file and it will be as smooth as porcelain floor tiles in an instant!

Just add a few touches to the walls and columns, and the interior decoration is complete.

"Nailed it!"
